Being Zhenya

I have been thinking about writing this post all day yesterday. What am I going to say, how I am going to phrase it, and then decided to just let the words come out as I start typing.

I feel like blogging has become a major business and a money making industry. I feel and I know that Being Zhenya has become a collection of sponsored posts. I know I didn’t lose my voice, I just stopped expressing myself. I let the pictures substitute the words, and the posts became short paragraphs usually ending with an exclamation point. Real life isn’t always like that is it?

So I decided to make this blog more of a journal. The last giveaway I did I asked for some feedback, and I did it for a reason. I wanted to know what interests you the most. And you wanted to see more lifestyle posts, hear more tips and advice on style and accessories. I appreciate this feedback more than anything.

What does it mean for you? Sam will probably get mentioned in my posts a little more, as well as some of my friends. I will also talk about college, because that’s where I am at right now. The style posts will still come, as well as the beauty ones. I will also write more, and go on about my life. I want to make it personal again and I want to be able to talk to you.

On Wednesday one of my readers, Monica, came up to me at the U. She recognized me from my blog. And it was the highlight of my day! She was the sweetest person to talk to. And one of the first questions she asked me was if I still thrifted. Of course, I told her. I just don’t post about it as much. But I am bringing the hauls back πŸ™‚ We will also be relaunching Thrift Style Thursday in a slightly different format in January 2015, so if you want to join in the fun, let me know and we’ll get you started with us!

I have a lot of fun ideas for 2015, and I can’t wait to start this new journey with you all!

  1. Zhen! I am much more excited to hear your voice SHINE! Feel empowered that people want to hear YOU, friend!

  2. Great reading this! It can be a tough decision for bloggers to weigh out your voice and the need to monetize your blog. But for me, I don’t think sponsored posts are wrong at all, as long as you believe in the product/s you are showcasing and that it is something you enjoy doing.

If you have a sec, I’d like you to check out the latest on my blog:

    • I definitely agree with you, and it’s great to have a chance to post some sponsored content and get paid for it or some free items. But it shouldn’t be forced on the readers πŸ™‚

  3. Zhenya, I LOVE this post! I can be difficult to stay true to yourself sometimes with all the offers and posts, but I completely support you and other bloggers in that… but I love thrifting, so you know I want to see more of that! πŸ™‚

  4. To be honest I am looking forward to this so much more than sponsored posts. Nothing against those but they can be a bit disingenuous. Letting your voice shine is what your readers want to hear and see. xo

  5. This really is beautifully put, Zhenya! I cannot wait to see the new adventures you share on your blog and I will be a loyal reader no matter what πŸ™‚

  6. I am excited to read about your thrifting hauls!

  7. <3

  8. This is a beautiful, honest post – I LOVE it.

So excited for the new old changes….I really enjoy your journal type blogging….I have missed them. I also like reading about your fashion ideas….I wish I was petite like you but I can get some ideas about trends to try to look presentable. I appreciate all your time you put towards your blog. I work.fulltime and go to school full time so I understand the limitations to time. Take care and thanks agsin

  12. Well said! I would love to see more day to day life and get to know you more! And I’m so excited about the direction that we’re taking Thrift Style Thursday!

  13. Yay!!! While being internet famous would be fun/cool, I like to read “real” blogs more than I do the ones mentioned in magazines.
