Winter Reading

Among countless fashion magazines and style blogs that I read on a daily basis, there is always room for books.

I am guilty of reading more than one book at a time though, and yes, it’s a bad habit and maybe a sign of ADD, it’s similar to watching several different shows, and every new chapter, is like, well, a new episode!

The two books I am currently working my way through are:

– Brain on Fire by Susannah Cahalan

– Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman

The books that are on my to-read list are:

– Bridget Jones Mad About the Boy by Helen Fielding

– Likeable Social Media

I prefer not to make long lists, and set attainable goals 😉 I also love reading books on my Nook, but of course nothing beats checking them out of the library. Call me old fashioned, but …

Happy Tuesday!

I have also been recently nominated for a Liebster Award by Kimi of Twenty Something Simple,
and even though most of you know how I feel about blogger awards (Painful and Unncessary –
in words of Samantha Jones of SATC), I loved her questions, so here are my answers:
What is your favorite part about blogging?
I love being able to share my style and life with everyone, it’s a way of expressing myself. I
absolutely love the idea of meeting new people and building relationships and connections with
my readers!
How do you keep your blog thoughts organized?
I do several weekly/monthly posts that are regular (i.e Thrift Style Thursday or 2014
Blogger Challenge), everything else, like my outfit posts, are done over the weekend, or during
my days off, and then are scheduled throughout the week. I also keep an editorial calendar.
What is one word that describes your style?
What is your favorite animal?
Bunnies, squirrels, hamsters, you get the idea 😉
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An ESL teacher
If you could only visit one country outside of your own, which one would you choose?
What’s your favorite month of the year?
What’s your favorite way to eat potatoes?
French Fries
What’s your favorite TV show?
The one quoted in this post already – SATC
Do you have any siblings?
Two half-brothers, they are fraternal twins and are currently in second grade! Talk about
age difference!
What is your favorite pattern to wear?
Floral, and bold prints!

  1. I think I’m reading 5 books at the moment! (I’m also watching 3 different series at the moment). I don’t see it as a bad habit, I usually finish all the books.

  2. I loved Orange is the New Black- the book was much better than the show in my opinion.

  3. Also guilty of reading more than one book at a time, except I’m reading 5 – yikes! They’re just all so different, and all great in their own ways that I don’t get confused switching back and forth. Both of your currently reading books are on my list too! So many books, so little time…

  4. Elaine says:

I too love the library. I recommend the series that starts with “The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency”… Alexander McCall Smith. They’re about a woman who starts a detective agency in Botswana. They’re charming.

Did you become an ESL teacher?

  5. I haven’t read any of these books- will have to check them out. I used to read so much, but lately I don’t have the time.

  6. Love these books I need to read more!

With A City Dream

  7. I’m reading Brain on Fire right now, too! It is really intense, but I’m enjoying it 🙂 Excited to get to the recovery section 😉

  8. I just lent my copy of Brain on Fire to my mom to read-! Very interesting- I work in a part of the hospital that has seen the condition just a couple of times. Anyway, I also have Bridget Jones on my list…but I’m on the waitlist at the library!

    • Same here, I am on the wait list as well! I wonder if I can just download it and read it on my Nook! I am number 28 🙁

  9. I bought Brain on Fire for my sister for Christmas! Of course, it was partially a gift for myself as well 🙂

  10. Brain on Fire is in my TBR list! I cannot wait to read it. Let me know how you like it.

  11. I always read two or three books at a time, you’re not alone! It depends on my mood and what I can fit in my purse/bag on any given day 🙂 Also, never stop using libraries! They’re a dying breed, sadly enough.

  12. I didn’t know you had half-brothers! Me too! I have 3 of them – 9, 12, and 15 years old. I need to get better about reading. The last book I read was Upton Sinclair’s the Jungle, and I finished it in October. Hah!

    • Yup, I was almost 19 when my mom had them, they are the cutest 🙂 I guess there is a point in doing all these awards – you learned something new about me, and I learned something about you!
