This weeks Thrift Finds

Today was probably one of the best day’s off I’ve had in months! It started of with breakfast at Helen’s, then some thrift shopping. Then Napoleon’s with Masha, then thrifting, then mall, and another mall and Famous Daves… Well let me back up a little here ๐Ÿ™‚

My most favorite store in Uptown Minneapolis – Steeple People is a must see for all thrifters. I have donated to the store a few times myself and today I finally found one of the pairs of shoes that I dropped off! I really hope someone buys them, since they are made out of water proof suede ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is what I got:

1. This top…

… because I loved the back so much!

2. This top…

… again for the back ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. This Dress, I just thought it was so very Paul Gauguin:

But it’s really this brand:

According to Sammy Davis’ article “How to date clothing“, the wording “of California” on a garment’s tag indicates that it’s vintage. Now this dress only says “California”, it’s still vintage, just dates back to the 80s, plusย from doing some research on line I also found out that this dress comes with a matching fabric belt, which unfortunately didn’t come with mine. But I have other plans for this baby! The only thing I am going to tell you right now is that the hem is definitely going to be shortened. And plus it was kind of screwed up, which also got me $3 off of this item!

So here is a tip – ask for a discount if the item looks damaged or stained. I’ve done it today and I’ve done it before at the Salvation Army!

Then I met up with one of my girlfriends and had this strawberry Napoleon goodness:

Now the latte is totally my girlfriend’s! I had an iced mocha and a mimosa – which felt so good at 3 pm!

Then we hit Clothes Mentor, which is another chain of thrift stores here in the US. They had a 50% off sale, so everything that had a little yello Sale sticker was half-price – best news ever for a thrifter like me!

4. I got this awesome Linen wrap dress:

It came with a spare button too, plus it was designed in France! Best thing ever.

5. And finally my last find – brand new Necessary Objects jacket, also half price, spare button also included:

Another tip about Clothes Mentor – start a card there, every time you buy something there, you’ll get a punch, if you bring a reusable bag – you get another punch! Once you collect 20 punches, you’ll get 20% off of your purchase!

So that’s it for the day, let me know which piece you liked the most, and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog to see how I style these pieces!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

xo,

Z

  2. minnesotatransplant says:

Love the floral print dress! When I saw the tag, I knew why. Carol Anderson sells her line by direct sales now (home parties) under the name CAbi (Carol Anderson by invitation). I adore those clothes and by a lot of pieces at full price (they’re that good — trend-proof, long-lasting and they come in LONG!). If you ever see a tag with CAbi when you’re thrifting, try it on. LOVE that stuff.

  3. Angela says:

That floral printed dress is darling!

  4. That all looks like a good day shopping. My fav is the strawberry Napoleon. Ha. I do like that wrap dress I’ve seen a few lately. I am thinking of having a go at adapting a blouse pattern to make one. Cheers

  5. Dear Zhenya,

Interesting finds. Steeple People is one of my favorite thrift stores, also. Besides repurposing, do you sell your thrift store finds? If so, where?

    • Hi Sherry,
well I have never sold any of my thrift finds, though I do sometimes think of doing that ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll definitely let you know if I set up an on-line store!
