Warby Parker School Bus and Sam’s First Pair of Sunnies

2013-08-10 12.45.28

Warby Parker is in town till Spetember 1! So Sam and I took full advantage of it! And yes, it happens to be that my husband has never owned a pair of sunglasses.

I also made sure to bring my Samsung Galaxy camera with me this time (I left it at home during the launch party and was really bummed out!) The camera was an absolute hit and everyone loved the fact that I could Instagram and Tweet from it! What can I say? I love my Samsung Galaxy camera!

Disclousure: I am participating in a Verizon Wireless blogger program, and received the device and 6 months of service for free, in exchange for my honest opinion. For more information, please click on the Verizon Voices Icon!

So after all this fun we finally decided to get Sam a pair of Β Exley sunnies!

Can’t wait to get them in the mail! And thank you Warby Parker for such a generous gift! The bus is parked in Uptown Minneapolis on Lagoon and Girard! Go visit them before September 1 comes around!

Getting Ready for Friday Thrifting

Thursday night.

We just came back from sailing.

I think my face is a little bit sunburnt.

Well it’s probably dehydration as well.

But tomorrow I only work till 2.45 pm.

And my favorite thrift store of all times has a BOGO sale on women’s shoes and clothing.

So I am going!

Straight from work!

But before I go, I need some ideas.

Something specific to look for.

So here it goes!

I really hope to score some sweaters tomorrow πŸ™‚ And put outfits together for you!

This weeks Thrift Finds

Today was probably one of the best day’s off I’ve had in months! It started of with breakfast at Helen’s, then some thrift shopping. Then Napoleon’s with Masha, then thrifting, then mall, and another mall and Famous Daves… Well let me back up a little here πŸ™‚

My most favorite store in Uptown Minneapolis – Steeple People is a must see for all thrifters. I have donated to the store a few times myself and today I finally found one of the pairs of shoes that I dropped off! I really hope someone buys them, since they are made out of water proof suede πŸ™‚

Here is what I got:

1. This top…

… because I loved the back so much!

2. This top…

… again for the back πŸ˜‰

3. This Dress, I just thought it was so very Paul Gauguin:

But it’s really this brand:

According to Sammy Davis’ article “How to date clothing“, the wording “of California” on a garment’s tag indicates that it’s vintage. Now this dress only says “California”, it’s still vintage, just dates back to the 80s, plusΒ from doing some research on line I also found out that this dress comes with a matching fabric belt, which unfortunately didn’t come with mine. But I have other plans for this baby! The only thing I am going to tell you right now is that the hem is definitely going to be shortened. And plus it was kind of screwed up, which also got me $3 off of this item!

So here is a tip – ask for a discount if the item looks damaged or stained. I’ve done it today and I’ve done it before at the Salvation Army!

Then I met up with one of my girlfriends and had this strawberry Napoleon goodness:

Now the latte is totally my girlfriend’s! I had an iced mocha and a mimosa – which felt so good at 3 pm!

Then we hit Clothes Mentor, which is another chain of thrift stores here in the US. They had a 50% off sale, so everything that had a little yello Sale sticker was half-price – best news ever for a thrifter like me!

4. I got this awesome Linen wrap dress:

It came with a spare button too, plus it was designed in France! Best thing ever.

5. And finally my last find – brand new Necessary Objects jacket, also half price, spare button also included:

Another tip about Clothes Mentor – start a card there, every time you buy something there, you’ll get a punch, if you bring a reusable bag – you get another punch! Once you collect 20 punches, you’ll get 20% off of your purchase!

So that’s it for the day, let me know which piece you liked the most, and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog to see how I style these pieces!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

1 Day 2 Outfits and Boo

Yesterday was my day off! And days off are amazing, I am sure you all know that! Plus I was on a mission – to buy Boo the cute little dog for Ingrid – the girl I baby sit! If you don’t know who Boo is – here is a picture!

I was able to order both the plush toy and the book about Boo from our Uptown Urban Outfitters, and have them ship it to my house for free πŸ™‚ Oh the beauty of ordering from the store instead of online (that would’ve cost me $10!)

Anyways, once Boo makes it to my house, I’ll make sure to take some pictures of him for you before I pass him on to the cutest little girl in the area!

Now, I don’t want to be vain, or God forbid pull a Samantha Brick on you, but I went through 2 outfits yesterday. Here is the first one:

I am rocking my thrifted COACH cross body and BCBG Max Azria Jacket, my dress came from a sale at Macy’s, and the boots were a gift from my hubby, before we were even married. And then you know, the watch is the usual – Marc Jacobs, yes, I am obsessed πŸ˜‰

After I placed my order at UO, I went to check out the Ragstock, and ran into my friend Tom, whom I haven’t seen for about 5 years! Here is some interesting info for you – there are 2 Ragstocks in uptown, both are in the same building, but I was so excited about everything I bought there, I had to immediately go home and change!

Hence, Outfit of the day #2:

As you can tell I am recovering pretty well after my surgery πŸ™‚ Thank you all for warm wishes and loving messages! I appreciate all of them so so much!

Hope you had a good day yesterday!
