Models Own Make up at Ulta

Models-Own-at-Ulta

Playing with make up is probably one of my favorite things to do. Unfortunately I don’t get to do it as much as I wish I could. So I decided to turn it around this weekend and finally got to the package from ModelsOwn, which is a UK based brand now available at Ulta.

Price wise ModelsOwn is on par with NYX and other drug store brands. The products come in bright and colorful packaging which makes it even more exciting.

Here is what I got to play with today:

Luxestick Velvet Lipstick in Deep Berry ($8.99) – a great deep color I will definitely be saving for nights out and fall. It’s easy to apply, and lasts a good amount of time, but I definitely recommend using a lip pencil with it!

I-Definer Kohl Pencil Eyeliner in Black Onyx ($7.99) – love this pencil, it’s precise, intense and waterproof. Plus it goes on very smooth, especially when you draw hearts on your hands 😛

Sculpt & Glow Highlighter Powder in Peach Pearl ($11.99) – a summer must have for all of us who’ve been deprived of natural glow by mother nature. Use it on your cheekbones, nose and cupid’s bow for best results. I always put my highlighter on before powder just in case I overdo it, then the powder helps conceal the excess highlighter. What about you? Are you a before or after powder highlighter girl? Confused by the question? Me too! Let’s move on.

Barely There Eyeshadow Palette ($17.99) – a great starter palette if you are just tapping your toe in the world of makeup. It combines dusky pinks, soft nudes and creamy browns for creating a truly natural look. It does come with a few shimmery colors so you can easily take your look from day to night. The palette comes with a dual end brush and being the brush snob that I am, I actually don’t mind this applicator. So kudos to you ModelsOwn! However, I highly recommend using a primer as this product tends to get dusty.

And there you have it! I have successfully played around with some make up and hopefully wrote a decent review for you to enjoy! I believe there is a special promo going on around this line at Ulta at the moment. But I do want to let you know that this product was sent to me for review and this is my honest opinion. Have a gorgeous day everyone!

Feathers Unruffled {A Home Decor Post}

I don’t normally post about home decor, unless it’s DIY, but this time I just wanted to share how something random, bought on a whim,, transformed my living room and made that one small part of it (aka my console table) complete.

I got these feathers a week ago at the Minnesota State Fair. They were only a $1 each at the International Bazaar (which does by the way have a Russian booth!) and I couldn’t simply pass by.

So after spending all afternoon wandering around the Fair Grounds with these feathers sticking out, I was amazed they actually made it home that night.

To be honest, I wasn’t going to put them in a vase. I did have a different spot for them in mind, but they never made it there!

Instead they were dropped off on the console table that I freecycled a couple years ago, next to these two frames, one being a cross stitch by my dear friend Tamara, reminding me where, when and who I married 😉 And the other is a picture version of the latter.

Once I sat down and actually looked over where the feathers were, I knew that it’s where they belonged.

So then the vase hunting began. From Target to TJ Maxx, to Marshall’s to finally – BINGO – a thrift store (this time it was Salvation Army) during a Labor Day sale, this beauty ended up costing me only $3.50 plus tax!

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner thought I…

Now to find the lamps…

Xx,

Z

PS. Check out these salt and pepper shakers Sam’s friend Blake brought me from England:

One of them is a London Guard and the other is The British Gentleman! Can you guess which one is which? LOL

It’s Okay to Look: Van Mildert

I often find myself looking at clothes that are carried in stores outside of the US. I do believe that European fashion is somewhat different, and even though globalization’s got the best of this industry, there are still some differences and it’s totally okay to look!

Today I am going to look at Van Mildert, a chain of stores in the North of England (similar to our Nordstrom) with fashion, innovative product and lifestyle. I think UK was an obvious choice here regarding Kate Middleton and her perfect style! Catering for both men and women, these stores offer fashion across many platforms to the style and image conscious. Since 1996 they’ve been encapsulating all that is new and exciting within the fashion industry and showcase this product under one roof alongside some of the strongest and most relevant collections in the world. All stores offer a wide variety of collections to suit the broad clientele and are spilt across sections catering for young fashion, branded fashion, concept design, and premium sportswear.

But enough talking let’s do some looking 😉 That’s what we are here for after all! I was looking for fall 2013 and the first thing that I’ve noticed and really liked was the fact that every item is clearly labeled whether it’s the new collection or not! Thumbs up for that!

You can tell I am putting an outfit together here, can you not? 😉

I also think this Vivienne Westwood short coat would be perfect for fall:
