Hats are amazing summer accessories, and can not only add on to your outfit, but make the outfit!
Do you know what my hat trick is? No, I am not going to pull a white rabbit out of this hat. My hat trick is pulling this outfit together for under $5! That’s right! IT’S UNDER FIVE BUCKS!
Here is how: hat – lost and found – free, shoes – hand me downs from a co-worker – free, high waisted jeans – Buffalo Exchange – $1 Earth Day sale, top – Talbots – Salvation Army – $3.50.
Even I am impressed with myself! And you can too, it’s easy! Thrifting is addicting, thrilling and saves you a lot of money! How do you think I am able to afford college?
Happy Thursday! And make sure to connect with other Thrift Style Thursday Gals!

The Polar Vortex has come and gone, leaving us pretty frozen here in Minneapolis. But the sense of survival and gratitude to the governor for closing the schools on Monday, thus granting me a 4 day weekend is enormous. I am starting to forget what it’s like to work!
I was brave enough to overcome the cold, and with my tripod in hand, ventured a maximum of 10 feet away from the front door to take some photos for today’s post. And even though my leather pieces aren’t as obvious (boots, belt and purse), the whole outfit is thrifted or free, with exception of the Ralph Lauren purse, and Lucky Brand sun glasses.
The grey chiffon JCrew dress was thrifted in New York during my last trip; my velvet jacket is Express; the belt was stolen from Sam; my headband belongs to my girlfriend Tawnya; the necklace is vintage; boots are Corso Como -thrifted; fur coat – vintage, gifted.
I hope you check out other girls looks, and see how they style and wear leather pieces! A Thrift Style Thursday Calendar will also be available soon on Twitter, feel free to join in the movement! We’d love to have you!

We loved you, and we were sad to see you go… Why did you leave us behind?
On the other hand, we have made it to the Internet,
So Thank you!
Susan was an old co-worker of mine. I probably haven’t seen her since April, but a few weeks ago, her boots popped up in the staff lounge. Determined to see her again, I took the boots home. And as you can probably understand, I never saw her. Maybe I will, maybe I wont. But these boots provided a perfect pop of color for today’s outfit.
Sweater – thrifted, Dress – thrifted, bag – Philip Lim for Target, Boots – Susan’s Born, Leggings – ProSkin, Scarf – Handmade (and will be available in my Etsy store)
How has your weekend been?
A 100% thrifted outfit! That’s not rare for me at all! Just trying to make it budget friendly! Thank goodness it’s pay day My Sperry’s are probably the number one thing I want to show off! I scored them at a local consignment shop and was so so proud of my find, even though they cost $30, they were a great investment, and let’s be honest – Sperry’s are every fashion blogger’s must-have. Now the sweater! When I saw it at the Goodwill I immediately thought of my husband. We’ve been lucky to go sailing every summer, so this is a great reminder for me during colder months that summer (and HOPE!) is out there! The brown jacket (and we had this whole brown conversation before!) is also from Goodwill and is actually something I bought for my very first Goodwill Guest Post. I loved it so much, I kept it. Probably because it’s also from Steve and Barry’s and that store ceased to exist back in 2008… Sad face… And the jeans, well they are from Salvation Army, which I haven’t been to in so so long! That’s what NOT living in downtown Minneapolis does now! And going to my favorite location in the warehouse district is just not the same, it’s so crowded these days.
And there you have it! My Thrift Style Friday I guess! I will be in Stillwater this weekend, and hubs has promised to make it a date one! I love our date weekends! Even though his Birthday is coming up, he never forgets to treat me
Have a great weekend everyone and don’t miss Minnesota Blogger Conference recap tomorrow!

I am going to admit that every time some asks me what my favorite color is, I say “I don’t know” or “I don’t have one”, “I like them all” Yeah, I am probably one of those people you hate. “Make up your mind already, Zhenya!”
Well, whether the lack of a favorite color is a sign of my indifference or indecisiveness, or being an open minded person, when it comes to fall, brown comes out!
I swear I live in brown for at least 2 whole weeks when October comes around, and every time I go shopping I purposefully buy anything but…
And there you have it, my little brown rant Hence, the outfit…

I have been really into pattern pants lately. I don’t know what’s going on here, but I bought two pairs over the past 3 weeks.
Last Monday I scored these polka dot beauties from Goodwill! Nothing can beat $5 pants, right?
Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything to match them, so instead I styled them using items from my own closet, including a vintage piece that belonged to my Grandma.
Polka dot pants – Merona – thrifted from Goodwill, White Vintage Lace top – Grandma’s, Striped Jacket – Necessary Objects, consigned, Shoes – unknown, Watch – Marc by Marc Jacobs, Bracelets – H&M
How would you have styled these pants? Do tell!
PS. These amazing pictures wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for my Samsung Galaxy camera!
