Thrift Style Thursday Schoola

Thrift Style Thursday Schoola

Can you believe it’s June 30th’s already? I am so happy that Thrift Style Thursday link up has been going strong for almost a month! I love checking out everyone’s posts, so keep them coming. I wanted to share my recent collaboration with Schoola today. Schoola is a secondhand online shop that offers clothing for women, men and children. It benefits schools in the US and the Malala Fund internationally. In fact, 40% of all the proceeds go to benefit children’s education. They have a wide variety of brands, sizes and prices! Plus you can donate to Schoola for free by requesting a bag, to learn more, click here.

Since Schoola was kind to provide me with a few pieces, I can’t wait to be sharing them with you over the next few weeks!

I wore this Land’s End shirt dress a couple days ago when we went to Mickey’s Diner in downtown Saint Paul. Sam wanted to have dinner there before his trip to Germany. So if you know where Mickey’s is, you’ve probably seen this store front nearby. My obsession with everything New York City will never stop, besides there was a No Nonsense sign in the window, so I had to take a photo there!

And now for the link up!

Between sponsored posts, photoshoots and accounting classes, I try and find some downtime. I have always loved this bridge connecting Sculpture Garden and Loring Park. And while Sculpture Garden lays there, demolished, sculptures removed, trees cut down, waiting for its reopening next June, Loring Park is still there. A little green oasis in the middle of the Hennepin/Lyndale construction mess. I find this comparison to be a strange yet applicable allegory to my life. I’m moving from Minneapolis where I’ve lived for the past 5 years. The move is exciting, stressful. I tend to worry, question my decisions, look for signs. But then I remember that I need to take ownership, stick to my guts, and keep going. It’s time to move on, and I will be doing just that!

I’ve been dying to wear this olive skirt for a while now. Sometimes I wonder if it’s too short for me, but today it was just right! The elephant print top has been my go to during hot and humid summer days, it has an open back, and is so breezy, I’m so close to being a covergirl 😉

And now for the link up – share your looks, whether they are thrifted or not, and make sure to help spread the word about this link-up through social media if you have a chance! Thank you, can’t wait to see your looks!

#ThriftStyleThursday A Jean Jacket // June 16 + Link Up

Friendship is a wonderful thing. There are so many great humans that I’ve been able to meet through social media. Katelyn is one of them. She is a friend from Milwaukee I met through Instagram. Katelyn writes a blog called The Duck and The Owl with her roommate Sarah, as well as finds time to be an editor and creative assistant at The Crybaby Club. All that on top of being a rock star English teacher!

We got to spend an amazing afternoon in Minneapolis yesterday! Walked all over downtown, Loring Park, hung out with my family and friends. We ended the day with a happy hour on one of the rooftops.

Thrift Style Thursday linkups are a way to make new friends too. I’ve never really met any of you in person, but every week I get to know you better. Social media works in mysterious ways. I was reading the New York Times over the weekend, the wedding announcement section, and about half of the couples met online (that included but wasn’t limited to Tinder, Ok Cupid, etc.). If someone can meet a significant other online, it only makes sense we can use it to find new friends. Lately, I’ve been meeting more and more local bloggers through Instagram, going out for coffee or drinks, sharing my blogging experience, etc. It’s so easy to network these days, don’t miss your chance!

I wore this thrifted Trouve knitted dress, paired with my favorite thrifted lucky jacket, and my vintage Coach cross body bag. I think a good denim jacket is a must have in everyone’s closet, and a neutral color dress is a perfect layering piece for any season!

Make sure to join the linkup, share your looks and posts, and help us spread the word if you have a minute!

Happy Thursday, I am so excited to bring #ThriftStyleThursday back this week! As you may remember we put it on pause back a year or so ago because a lot of us didn’t have time, and I was busy with school. Ironically enough, the outfit I am sharing is from last day of class this past semester. I had so much fun hanging out with Megan, McCall and Molly before the class started, and Chan was there to document it all, as always.

I hope you are as psyched about #ThriftStyleThursday coming back, and if you’ve posted any vintage inspired or thrifted outfit recently, come link up with us, today and every Thursday.

Peace!

It’s Plaid to me #ThriftStyleThursday

2015-04-27 17.38.39

I have missed so  many Thrift Style Thursdays that I have lost count. But I really wanted to blog today, especially after my Macro final, that I don’t even care if the shirt is plaid! I have recently gone to the new goodwill outlet in St Paul, and this shirt is from there, along with many other shirts and sweaters. I also went thrifting today and got a pretty fancy paisley Ralph Lauren dress, so move over Lily Pulitzer, I never liked you anyways.

So even though the shirt cost probably less than $1.00, I managed to wear it with a pair of $200 Joe’s Jeans. Talk about thrifty blogger over here! My T-shirt is from Zara, and says “Darling, I have it on vinyl”, which I don’t. I also don’t have anything to play vinyls on. This is a summer goal – acquire vinyls, a new shelf for the living room, redecorate the living room, don’t go broke, and have fun.

I have so many fun things to attend to this weekend, I can’t wait. Yes they are fashion shows. But I have one more final, and that is kind of driving me insane. Ironically enough it is a psychology final.

Someone bring me Chipotle and come play with my dog, while I go study.

Also, my favorite girl, so check them out!

Blue – the most human color + #ThriftStyleThursday

Blue is one of my favorite colors, always have been, especially the beautiful lapis, like the sweater that you see in the photos. I almost wore blue shoes today too, but went with my gut and these Frye boots instead. You know how some people wear flip flops year round? I wear my Frye boots! I only have two pairs so far, but I am sure I will be expanding my collection soon.

Yesterday I shared my love for the Avett Brothers, today I can’t help but mention one other favorite artist of mine – Regina Spektor. Her song Blue Lips is where I stole the title for todays post from. But my new favorite song of hers is I cut Off My Hair! You have to listen to the lyrics, they are hilarious. I used to live in Manhattan, and she sings about it, so it brings back the memories, the good times and makes me want to go back!

Some of my other favorite things that start with B are bears, beets and Battlestar Galactica (I am 100% serious!)

This post for #AtoZChallenge ties in so nicely with our #ThriftStyleThursday theme. Today’s post is supposed to be inspired by nature. And once again, the sky has always been one of my main sources of inspiration. It’s not the limit, but it’s a great way to forget about your everyday life and kind of dissolve in it. That’s why I really cherish my mornings now when I let out Mason, and I sit on the back deck, drink my coffee or tea, and start the new day!

Emerald Green

I always wish I was back in New York or Chicago for St Patrick’s Day, I just think those cities have way more going on than Minneapolis. I mean we have the Mississippi we could dye green!

But here is one of my favorite vintage emerald dresses that I wore with this thrifted sweater! I hope you like this look for today’s #ThriftStyleThursday, and don’t forget to check out other girls posts 😉

An Unexpected Match

My new favorite look – sweatshirts over everything. Maybe because of the weather, maybe because I’m comfortable, maybe because there are a lot of fun sweatshirts out there.

One of my coworkers has recently brought in a whole bunch of clothes for us to go through and I found this AE cropped hoodie.

Here is the thing – I am 28 and I don’t wear AE, or A&F, or Hollister, or whatever is there that makes me look like a high school student. But this sweatshirt is everything. It’s soft and warm and OMG has a hood! And I am not using it for working out! What?

Yes! This is the story. The best match ever!

Check out other girls posts and make sure to stop by next week for a thrift haul thrift style thursday post!

I often see outfits on Pinterest or Instagram and think to myself – I really like this look, I wonder if I could pull it off!

And this is the case with this pinspired outfit. I paired my vintage wool skirt with a hand knit thrifted sweater, my Frye boots and this Duluth Trading company bag! This is my school bag and I absolutely love it, because it fits my laptop, all my notebooks and the ridiculous amount of lipsticks that I carry around with me.

Hope this post inspires you! I am spending the day in bed with my textbooks!

Cozy Sweaters – #ThriftStyleThursday

2015-01-15 08.04.51 2015-01-15 08.06.46

Welcome to another week of #ThriftStyleThursday! I am so excited we are back on track with our weekly posts! It just makes me so happy!

This week’s host is Beth of Life with Bethie The Boo, and she came up with a cozy sweater theme. This winter I feel like I am the sweater queen! I obtained a lot of new different sweaters, and I am wearing them with everything! I especially love layering them over dresses.

The oversized sweater look is definitely my favorite!

Do you wear a lot of sweaters? What styles do you prefer?

Make sure to head over to other gals’ blogs and check them out! This week we are so excited to have Mounia of Chic-ky join us!
