Thrift Haul

Shopping at Goodwill {Thrift Haul}

As some of you may know, I went thrifting – AGAIN, and ended up with a good amount of items in my shopping cart! I just couldn’t resist the brands, the fits, at the fabrics, and the prints. And of course the shoes!

And as some of you know, sometimes I make YouTube videos (I have a pretty popular Russian channel), but this video is in English. So sit back, relax, enjoy my hipster look and see what I scored at Goodwill this time!

Have a great weekend everyone! And make sure to comment and let me know which one of my finds you liked the best!

Savers Thrift Haul

One of my favorite Savers in the Twin Cities area is located in Woodbury, and last Saturday I finally got to go there! And of course I scored :) How could I not! I will be honest with you though, some of the finds might surprise you, but it’s all about confidence and whether or not you can pull it off ;) I also feel like some of you who have just started following me, might enjoy not just a picture, but a video post! Here is my Thrift Haul, which includes an answer to a question every thriftier has asked themselves at least once: What’s inside those jewelry jars? You know the ones they price at $10-$15 and fill with chachkies? I always thought they were broken pieces of jewelry and was going to repurpose them, but it turns out that all of the pieces are absolutely fine!

Everything but the watch and the necklace around it came from the Savers Jewelry Jar! Watch is Marc by Marc Jacobs, and the necklace that I am wearing as a bracelet is vintage, it used to belong to my grandma, I brought it from Russia!

In my next post we’ll talk more about the Mustard color wool jacket! I have a very easy solution to the oversized jacket problem!

Have a great weekend!

I don’t know about you, but I am going sailing!

Mustard, please!

I have done it, I have found the perfect mustard pants! And since I didn’t know what to wear them with today I went for my Ralph Lauren denim shirt. It’s my go-to shirt for almost every occasion, a comfort cloth of sorts! I used to have another “comfort cloth” piece of clothing before that, a gray American Rag cardigan I got at Macy’s a long long time ago! I think it’s still there somewhere in the depths of my closet in Russia!

Do you have any items in your closet that are like this? Let me know, would love to hear what everyone else is obsessing with!

I am wearing:

Shoes – Target // Pants – NoBo (don’t judge now, nothing wrong with a WalMart brand!) – thrifted

Denim Shirt – Ralph Lauren // Sunnies – Lucky The Weekender // Necklace – GoFavor.com //

Watch – Marc by Marc Jacobs

Also, check out my latest thrift haul (I will admit, I was too lazy to take pics of everything, so I took a video instead)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Thrift Haul Where Shoulder Pads come to DIE!

Let’s call it my Christmas Thrift Haul! My finds are as unpredictable, as Minnesota weather! Megan from Mr C. & Me and I have been planning this thrift trip for a while, but last weeks SNOWPOCALYPSE delayed it. This weekend it rained… Yes, Global Warming is getting the best of our winters (I can always go back to Russia for that, but I hear it’s not going that well there either :) )

I also dragged Dominika with us, and the clothes that she got is absolutely amazing! Especially (SPOILER ALERT!) vintage Christian Dior pants! But more on that later!

Our first stop was Arc Value Village in Richfield, where we found the Dior pants, as well as some Ed Hardy shoes. But being the geniuses that we are, we didn’t get the pants.

Then we hit up Goodwill in Bloomington, and Dominika found this amazing fuchsia shirt, and well, that’s when we went back to Arc to get those pants! Thank goodness they were still there!

Our next and final stop was Savers in Bloomington, and that’s where I ended up spending most of my “thrift allowance” money (Okay I just made that up! I don’t have a thrift allowance, but I try and follow the “$20 limit per store” rule that I stole from Sammy Davis. Maybe I should give myself a monthly thrifting allowance? What do you think?)

And here is what I got:

Fabric first!

2012-12-16 21.26.15

The top one is a really bright pink, and unfortunately my iPhone camera doesn’t do this fabric justice. The only thing I was really bummed about was the price. I paid $8.99 plus tax for 7.5 yards. Now the original tag was still attached to the fabric, and it read $7.50! What’s up with that Goodwill??? The middle and the bottom fabrics are meant for a dress I am planning on sewing sometime in the future! Hopefully soon!

I also got this awesome vintage pattern, and the great thing about it is – ONE SIZE FITS ALL! So come to me with your fabrics and we can make you a dress like this. I am planning on altering the sleeves, though!

And finally the dresses! All vintage, all from Savers, $3.99 each! I love each and every single one of them!

Of course two out of the three dresses came with shoulder pads, but I took them out faster than a blink of an eye! Now only to figure out what to do with them! They are so pretty, I can’t just throw them away!

So? What do you think? Did I do well? Not so well! It all came to under $30! Don’t forget to check Megan’s blog and see what she got!

Have a great week!

Thrifting for Treasure: It’s been too long!

It’s been over 2 weeks since I posted my last Thrifting for Treasure. I didn’t want to do one last week, because I only bought two things, but this week’s haul, along with things that I’ve gotten off of freecycle and the items I thrifted a week before, should, all together, make a great post. Plus I was really inspired by Daniel Troppy and his almost daily YouTube haul videos.

The two items I bought last week were a salmon colored Talbots skirt and a cotton Gap black dress. When it comes to skirts, I have noticed myself leaning more and more towards anything high waisted and pocketed. And I know that I have blogged about it a lot over the past few weeks, so I am not going to bore you, but put the pictures up instead!

This week’s thrifting experience was a lot a lot more productive. I went to the Salvation Army in the North Loop district and here is what I got:

A vintage Coach purse, this one was meant for my mother-in-law, but I am not sure if she wants it, or if I am ready to give it up yet, but it’s absolutely stunning! If you are going for a Coach purse – go for the leather ones, don’t buy the fabric bags, even though they cost over $300, they still look cheap!

Next I got a Calvin Klein Dress. I immediately fell in love with this dress, the different layers of fabric add fullness and volume to the skirt. Plus I love how stripes go in different directions.

Remember my post on Trench Coats? Inspired by my husband? Well I just happened to find two trenches at the Salvation Army, and one of them is reversible – so that’s like 3 trenches instead of two ;) Remember my post on Trench Coats? Inspired by my husband? The first one is a Jones New York Coat:

Guess which side I will be rocking more often?

The next coat is actually a rain coat by Ralph Lauren. It’s a bright orange color, which will definitely make me stand out in the Minneapolis crowd!

The last two things were a little hard to explain, but since I got those sewing patterns off of Freecycle, I’ve been dying to get my hands on some new fabric. And well – turns out they sell fabric at the thrift store. What a pleasant discovery! If you are not sure if your thrift store sells fabric – check the linens/blankets section – that’s where I found these two amazing fabrics:

Now I am definitely asking for a sewing machine for Christmas.

I hope you all enjoyed these finds, if you’ve gone thrifting this week, make sure to leave a comment with a link to your blog below, I would love to check your finds out.

Have a great weekend,

xo
