I love coffee in all shapes and forms, but in the summertime cold brew is my favorite. I remember first learning about it through a Facebook post that one of my artsy friends did. He made it sound like an incredibly complicated process like at home beer brewing. So, for a couple of years I simply ordered my cold brew at local coffee shops and carried on. Thanks to my collaboration with Cameron’s Coffee I learned that I can make my very own delicious cold brew at home. There is a very handy blog post on their website with detailed instructions that are simple and easy to follow.

You can make cold brew using a French press, any glass container, or a mason jar. I chose to go with a mason jar just because I have a lot of those in my kitchen and they do look cool in the photos. There is also a cold brew system that you can purchase like this one.

For my coldbrew I used 8 oz of Roastmaster’s Blend, 8 oz of water and 1 tsp of spices. Now spices are optional, but I wanted to play around with some flavors. This specific spice mix includes ginger, cinnamon, star anise and nutmeg. I combined all the above in a mason jar and left in my fridge overnight. It’s best to let your coffee to sit for at least 12 hours. Then I ran it through a coffee filter, added some ice and milk and stayed caffeinated for the rest of the day.

If you like your coffee strong, then you can go ahead and drink the cold brew as is, or mix it with water, 50/50 is usually a pretty good ration. Since I add ice and milk, I tend not to, but that’s again up to you.

I hope you enjoyed this post and it encourages you to try making your own cold brew at home! Please make sure to share with me if you do.

I highly recommend following Cameron’s Coffee on social media as well! They are always posting helpful tips and share their coffee knowledge.

Last week I got the most beautiful and fragrant delivery from Brown & Greene Floral right on time for my Birthday. This beautiful bouquet combined my favorite roses and peonies with sweet-smelling mint in a beautiful vase that I will definitely be taking to our new apartment with us.

Brown & Greene Floral Market is the most adorable little corner store in Southwest Minneapolis on the corner of 44th Street and Beard Ave South. They produce such gorgeous florals, you will fall in love. I had so much fun integrating my bouquet into the interior of the house. From simply setting it on my night stand to using it as a centerpiece for dinner, to making it the center of the living room, these flowers immediately became a family favorite. I’ve never enjoyed a bouquet of flowers as much as I’ve enjoyed this one before.

This July they are celebrating their 15th anniversary with a number of events {European flea market, floral design class, a vase drive and a huge soiree at the end of the month}.

Summer has always been my favorite season. Maybe it has to do with my upcoming Birthday, maybe with the warm weather, maybe with the summer travels. I’ve always enjoyed and looked forward to the June-July-August stretch. This year, among other things, I get to spend my summer with a new fragrance – Vera Wang Embrace Marigold and Gardenia.

Vera Wang Embrace Marigold and Gardenia perfume is a way to feel confident and beautiful in your own skin. This newest member of the Embrace Collection empowers me to feel beautiful everyday. Its soft peach color, reminiscent of the first vision of sunlight, enhances my day leaving me feeling fresh and embracing my womanhood.

Fragrance has always been a big part of my life. From playing with my mom’s perfumes in pretty bottles when I was little, to noticing and complimenting others on their choice of perfume, I’ve always been drawn to new scents. I try and find a different fragrance for every time of the year, and this summer Vera Wang Marigold and Gardenia fragrance makes me feel confident, beautiful and desirable in my own skin.

In preparations to celebrate my Birthday I wanted to remind you how important it is to remember to celebrate ourselves every day! There are so many special moments that happen to us that need to be cherished and embraced, but sometimes get ignored and forgotten. I have been using Vera Wang Embrace fragrance to help me remember these moments, maybe it’s a combination of olfactory, maybe my mind is just playing games with me, but I believe in the power of this dreamy fruity and floral fragrance.

Now it wouldn’t be fair if I went on and on about this fragrance and not given you a chance to try it! I-C is hosting a contest for the Vera Wang Embrace fragrance collection pack and you can enter for a chance to win one of ten fragrance kits (A $75 value!). This includes all 4 of the following fragrances: Green Tea & Pear Blossom, Rose & Vanilla, Periwinkle & Iris, and Marigold & Gardenia. The contest closes July 12, 2016, you can enter by choosing a social media sharing option form the social media tool below:

Temperature is rising, swimsuits are out, I can’t wait to spend more time at the beach and the pool, now that we are all done moving from St Louis Park, to Lowry Hill. I am so excited to spend this summer in Uptown Minneapolis. Sam and I spent the first 2 years of our marriage in an apartment in Loring Park, and going to the lake was one of our favorite things to do.

We always try to be active when we go to the lake or pool, whether it’s swimming, or kayaking, or paddle boarding. But sometimes you just need to relax and float around. So this year I decided to make my water activities more relaxing, and the SwimWays Spring Float Recliner is more than perfect for it.

I personally have a hard time laying on a recliner by the pool, I need to be in the pool. And this is what this floating recliner does. This luxury fabric-covered inflatable float is designed for relaxing downtime at the pool. It’s ultra comfortable, features a sit-up style, backrest, headrest, ottoman, and the always necessary – beverage holder! Plus the patented Inner Spring Technology allows it to be easily inflated, closed and carried. It’s so fast and easy to pack/unpack, inflate/deflate and carry around, I would definitely recommend it! It’s so comfy, and matches my swimsuit, which is an added bonus.

I wanted to also share a couple advice when it comes to picking a swimsuit.

  1. Right size. A swimsuit bottom that’s too big will cause a diaper butt when it gets wet. A bottom that’s too tight will pinch on the body in places where you don’t want it to.
  2. Right fit. Some look good in halters, others look good in bandeaus, others look good in one pieces. Try on a lot of different styles (not colors), and
  3. Right attitude. Swimsuit shopping can be stressful and emotional. Find a way that works for you. Don’t mind ordering a wide variety of sizes and styles online and then trying it all at home? – Then go for it! Like to try things on at a store? – There are so many great locations out there!
  4. Right color. First of all, you can’t go wrong with black. Second, you can’t go wrong if you have a favorite color. Love patterns? Then pick patterns. Have a lot of suits already? Take photos before you go shopping, so you don’t end up with a similar suit to what you already have (we tend to gravitate towards items that are similar to the ones already existing in our wardrobe, watch out for that!)
  5. Focus on the good. Nobody knows your body better than you! Have killer legs? Don’t cover them up with a swim skirt. In fact, swim skirts are evil, and make the legs look shorter. Even a swim skirt with a slit is evil. They are all evil. Got nice shoulders, show them off! Highlight your advantages, it will make you feel better!
  6. Go for the quality. A $30 swimsuit from Target or H&M is definitely appealing, but if it falls apart after a couple trips to the pool, and one wash, you are going to have to spend another $30, and so on! A few brands I would recommend are Seafolly, Vix, Gottex and their other line called Profile, that offers a lot of size options, Maaji, Isola, and Lenny Niemeyer.
  7. Take care of your suit. Hand wash and lay flat to dry only, no washing machine, even if it has a gentle cycle. Use a special soap that helps wash out chlorine. If you don’t have a special swimsuit soap, use baby shampoo, or a gentle cleaner. Another tip: don’t let chlorine dry in your suit. It’s better to keep it damp on the way home from the pool, and wash it then, chlorine causes discoloration and yellowing of the fabric.

SwimWays Spring Float Recliner is available at Walmart, you can also follow them on  Facebook and Twitter.

I hope you find this post and my tips helpful. Feel free to message me with any questions!

Last year I participated in an awesome A to Z challenge, and as far as I remember, I never completed it. I want to try it again this year, and my theme is going to be 30 days of outfits. I am going to share a new outfit a day, there won’t be any particular theme, but the outfits are going to somehow start with the letters of the alphabet and go in that order for the whole month of April! I am also going to post outfit photos on Instagram for those 30 days with a special hashtag #30daysofoutfits. I am pretty sure I have enough pairs of shoes to last me through the 30 days, but if I don’t, shoes are the only items that will be repeated. I am hoping to revive some of the forgotten pieces from my closet, and bring up my style game!

Monday Wants though, skirts! And lace! And can’t forget about bright summer shoes (the snowy Minnesota weather outside my window is mocking me silently!)

Weekly Wear {May 17}

Another week has come and gone, and this was a tough one. Sam’s grandma passed away, and even though we all know and feel that she is in a much much better place, and what’s more important, with the one she loved her whole life, Bob, it’s still hard oh the family.

I had a very hard time at work. The last two days have been from hell. I don’t know if it’s something in the water, but I am starting to lose my patience, and the best parts of my days are spent in bed or on the couch. I haven’t really worked out in days! And that’s not typically me.

I also went back to juicing. Mainly to go through all the vegetables in the fridge, so now almost all my recipes include carrots or celery. But once I am through with them, I’ll go back to Costco for more exciting combos.

Summer is looking more exciting than I expected. We are starting it off by getting new siding for our house (it still has the original 1950’s wooden tile) during Memorial Day weekend. Then we are road tripping to Milwaukee for a fun and exciting Midwest Bloggers event called Blogger Bazaar! And another road trip to my friend’s wedding in Colorado in July, we’ll be staying and hiking there for about a week afterwards. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a Chicago trip in August! And grateful for Sam who is on board with me when it comes to all these trips.

And tomorrow we get to go somewhere new and exciting for our family! So keep and eye on my Instagram. If you follow me on Twitter, you know what it is! But since it’s not my news to tell, I am going to stop, wish you all a great Saturday and invite you to link up your outfit posts!

Something Inspirational

I noticed a lot of bloggers were talking about Spring, and needless to say today is when “We spring forward”! My favorite place in the world to watch the coming of spring is New York City (The Reservoir, The Conservatory Gardens)

I also kind of felt like the past several posts have been pretty depressing. And not wanting to be a complete Debbie Downer, I decided to share something that is inspirational to me. And in spite of the fact that I do love spring, I love summer more. And the first thing that comes to mind when I think summer is…

Zooey Deschanel!

You can also read a great article about some fun summer activities if you follow the link below. Because summer is coming after all!

http://www.self.com/magazine/2009/08/zooey-deschanel

And don’t forget that it’s all about love after all! <3 <3 <3 (Took me forever to figure those out!)

I once met a woman during some afternoon wine, who looked a lot like Zooey. I didn’t hesitate to tell her that, and she considered that to be the highest compliment. Turned out Zooey is the number one “girl-crush” out there! Yes, girls have crushes too!

I’ve been to her concert at Terminal 5, and she was more than amazing! Unfortunately my camera died, so there are no videos, but here is one of my fav songs by her!
