Sinks need Skirts too!

Yes, sinks need skirts too! It’s not that I hated not having any cabinets under my bathroom sink, I just didn’t like it. Then I came across this amazing tutorial in one of my thrifted books:

I then remembered that I had some left over cotton fabric from this pillowcases DIY, and I decided to put it to good use! I did have to sew a few pieces together, only because the original fabric piece wasn’t wide enough:

Thanks to the most amazing invention in the world – sticky velcro – I was able to finish this project in no time!

I hope you like it! Now I can hide all the cleaning supplies there!

Have a great weekend everyone!

T-shirt Refashion: Part 1

Here is a T-shirt, that I freecycled last week:

Please note that I have nothing to do with the church, I do view it as one of the main Minneapolis landmarks, and it’s definitely nice living in the neighborhood around it! I do support their ministry through Steeple People though, it is one of my favorite thrift stores in the area after all!

Now this shirt has a lot going on: stains, holes, etc. So I took my scissors and some supplies:

… and ended up with this :)

Now let me explain why I am making this a 2 parter, it’s already past midnight, I’ve been working on this for the past two hours, so I am kind of tired, and also missing some ingredients to finish this refashion. Please stay tuned for Part 2, it’s coming up tomorrow :)

DIY Pillowcases

We all can use an extra pillowcase or two. That’s why I decided to dedicate my Sunday afternoon to this sewing project.

I had this fitted sheet, that I took the elastic out of. Part of the elastic went towards fixing a thrifted skirt, another part is waiting for it’s hour. My original intention was to throw the fabric away, but I am not as wasteful as you think, hence the pillowcases!

You are going to want to cut out two rectangles – 43″ by 32″ (assuming you are making 2 pillowcases ;) )

Fold them in half:

Then I took one of the pillowcases that I had and outlined it using a pencil:

Next all you need to do is sew along the side and the bottom, leaving one of the shorter sides open:

And finally fold about 1/2″ of the opening in, and in once again:

And here we have it – brand new pillowcases!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Z
