Spring Cometh OOTD

Happy Spring everyone! It’s finally here in Minneapolis and I couldn’t wait to show you my latest outfit, which includes a refashioned vintage dress and my latest DIY tote bag, that actually got featured on CraftGossip!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and let me know if any of you are in Chicago and would want to meet up! I have all day Saturday to hang out:)

Vintage Romper Refashion

Yay! DIY Friday is back. Or refashion Friday. Or Friday posts in general! I’ve been actually pretty good at posting on a regular basis this week! I’ll try to keep ’em posts coming. Especially now that my blog has a Facebook page! I tend to feel like this more and more often:

But on with the refashion! I got this vintage romper off of Freecycle.org over the summer, and have been wanting to make it into something more wearable ever since!

I mean how hideous is this piece? But I loved the fabric, the pattern, you know how I am!

So I cut of the shoulder pads, cut off the legs, and then made a high-low hem line. I kind of had to, because of the fact that there used to be pants and a crotch seam:

Next step was hemming it, then cutting the sleeves to make them shorter, and hemming them as well!

I also had to go over some of the seams, because they were going apart:

Stay tuned for the Outfit post featuring this piece! But here is what it looks like on the hanger:

I am washing it right now, according to the label instructions:

Don’t you also love how the makers of this dress were undecided about the size?! Is it a Medium or a Large? Well, it fits me! That’s all I care about!

Have a fab weekend everyone!

Thrifted Vintage Dress Refashion

Chop chop, here I come running with scissors towards this little number:

It’s my thrifted vintage Carol Anderson dress! The hem line is all screwed up though! It was pinned and even taped! At least I got some safety pins out of this project 🙂

I also wasn’t extremely happy with the sleeves – too boxy for my taste:

So I made these little rectangle straps from the chopped piece:

Then sewed them onto the dress:

Here is a close up too:

Then I simply re-hemmed the dress. Easy Peasy and a perfect bright outfit for a hot summer day like this!

Thumbs up for the iron in the back ground, right?

I spent the day shopping, thrifting, walking by Calhoun and driving around Lakewood cemetery with my friend Masha! Oh all the fun and junk food we had 🙂

I will definitely do a haul post (seems like I am falling into the habit of doing a haul post every week 😉 ) and a post dedicated to the historical Lakewood in Minneapolis! It is a pretty cool place if you ask me! Hope you all had a cool day, and I literally mean COOL 🙂
