Vivienne Tam Skirt

Photo create with Mirrored for iPhone & iPad

The thrift find of my New York trip was definitely this Vivienne Tam skirt, which came brand new, with tags, but wouldn’t have been mine, if it wasn’t for Samantha (of Lipstick Affirmations), who is the perfect thrifting buddy and I am so lucky to call her my friend (You know how you meet other bloggers on line, and then finally meet them in person and you just click? Like you’ve been friends forever? That’s exactly how it felt!) And to top it all off, it only cost me $10, definitely the cheapest, but trendiest thing in the whole ensemble.

I have to be honest with you, this winter has been really hard on me, there is so much snow, the wind chills that made it feel like -50F, how long it lasts here… I got over the “winter wonderland” myth in under 2 weeks! I am ready to see some green, some grass, some sunshine that will melt it all away!

And since I keep hearing from a lot of you that I look cold in my pictures, I put on a jacket 😉

Stillwater is probably one of my favorite places in Minnesota. It is nothing more than just a main street with antique shops and local boutiques. But it is so much more! Yesterday was Sam’s Birthday and we met his best friend in Stillwater for lunch at the Dock Cafe. And of course walked along the waterfront. It so happens that every last Sunday of October is a Trick-or-Treat day, so you see the cutest and weirdest costumes all over town. Great inspiration for those who still don’t know what they want to be for Halloween 😉 It reminded me of trick-or-treating in Manhattan, going around the local businesses, the dry cleaners, the bank… And, need I say this, the weather was gorgeous!

Happy Monday and have a great week!

Dear Susan,

We loved you, and we were sad to see you go… Why did you leave us behind?

On the other hand, we have made it to the Internet,

So Thank you!

the Boots

Susan was an old co-worker of mine. I probably haven’t seen her since April, but a few weeks ago, her boots popped up in the staff lounge. Determined to see her again, I took the boots home. And as you can probably understand, I never saw her. Maybe I will, maybe I wont. But these boots provided a perfect pop of color for today’s outfit.

Sweater – thrifted, Dress – thrifted, bag – Philip Lim for Target, Boots – Susan’s 😉 Born, Leggings – ProSkin, Scarf – Handmade (and will be available in my Etsy store)

How has your weekend been?

Layers of Leather // Thrift Style Thursday

I have been in love with leather. I should probably blame #StyleChat for that! And even though the leather I own is mostly faux, my obsession with it is pretty real. When Martyna of Spoolish and I decided to talk layers this Thrift Style Thursday, I knew that my $1 faux leather skirt had to make an appearance on my blog! There is a place in Minneapolis called Opitz, and then there is a place right next door called The Annex. Opitz sells designer and high end brands at a discount, The Annex sells everything else! When I found this skirt, the zipper was almost ripped out, but the skirt looked 100% fixable, and that’s exactly what I did! It is a tad bit too short for me, and while I was going to add lace to it, I decided that it would be fun to just layer it on top of the Philip Lim skirt I recently bought at Target!

I am wearing:

OASAP polka dot shirt // Refashioned faux leather skirt from The Annex // Philip Lim for Target skirt // Faux leather leggings from OASAP // Salamander boots // Golden toe booties // Philip Lim for Target tote

Layering is definitely something I am looking forward to, now that the temperatures are finally going down!

And don’t forget to enter my Giveaway, because the bag in this picture is up for grabs!

I have been loving the whole denim on denim situation, so when Martyna of Spoolish, and I decided to style a denim vest for this weeks Thrift Style Thursday, I knew exactly what i wanted to do! The vest I am wearing is Ralph Lauren, and I dug it out at my favorite Sal Val store in the warehouse district, you know which one, you’ve been there 😉 The vest is a size too big for me, and every time I put it on, I think it makes me look boxy, but then I see the pictures and start to realize how different we look to ourselves, than when others see us, even if that other is a camera lens!

I am also happy to announce that you will be able to link up to our Thrift Style Thursday posts from now on, isn’t that exciting?

My Philip Lim

Yes, I got up at 7 am on a Sunday to go to Target and shop the Philip Lim collection! I am not going to extensively write about the experience, I am sure you’ve all been there done that (or not), but it was very civilized, no one was running or trampling over other shoppers’ bodies. This definitely wasn’t the Black Friday Wal-Mart edition.

I was the third in line, one of the store employees came out and talked to us, made sure we were all going to behave and assigned one of the shoppers son as a bouncer 🙂

He also kept calling him Lin, so we had to correct him 🙂

I got all I wanted and maybe even more, those of you who follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen it all, and you also know that I will be giving away one of the items that I bought. So if you missed out on the whole thing, don’t worry. Plus I don’t think this collection will sell out like Missoni did a couple years ago. Sure some items will, but there will be plenty left!

Also, consider opening a Target card, if you are like me (a crazy shopper and all), you do have good chances of saving some money! Another way to go is through ShopKick app, I redeemed a $5 gift card right at the register. It wasn’t much, but everything helped. I think I ended up saving a little over $10!

Stay tuned for the Giveaway!

And have a great Sunday,
