Vintage Green

vintage-dress how-to-style-vintage alexander-wang-style vintage-look vintage-green

My friends from Vintage Swank/American Fashion Fox were kind enough to send me a few of their pieces to style. And this green striped shirt dress is the first one I am going to share with you today. I wore it Alexander Wang style with my high waisted jeans, and cut out boots. It’s definitely one of the best vintage pieces I own.

A little about these online stores though – all items they sell are highly curated by the buyers for the best of the best.

American Fashion Fox is for thrifted brand named items. They carry most of the brands that you will find at your local malls all of which can be found at thrift store prices. They only list what they would wear, so the items are all nice and trendy finds.

Vintage Swank, is for women who want to thrift but are looking for those rare finds that follow todays most recent trends. What only thrifters know is that many vintage items can be bought at low prices and are still very fashion forward in todays trends. As we both know fashion trends tend to cycle through the ages. So our items here are both vintage and new collections but all match todays woman. All items on this site start at $0.99.

I don’t know about you, but I am off to bid on some of those $0.99 dresses!

See what other pieces they sent me and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog! Let’s spread vintage love together!

How to #WinTheDay {5 Easy Steps}

How do you start your day? What do you do to make it a good one? Is it more than just getting up on the right side of the bed? Today I am going to share a few tips on how I make my mornings smooth and easy, and my days a success!

Waking up early is the key for me. Even if you don’t have to be anywhere early, it’s still a good habit. Okay maybe on the weekends I’ll sleep in till 9 am, but on other days 5.45 am it is!

Planning my outfit is also helpful, and whether I lay it out the night before, or put it together in the morning, I always try to have a general idea of what I am going to wear!

Highlight it, don’t hide it! Got killer cheekbones, put some highlighter on! Want to open up your eye and appear more wide awake? Highlight it!

Know your hair! Will you wear it straight, or curly, or in a bun? How do you style your hair? Often it’s something I forget about, and then end up not having enough time to do. Yes, my hair is relatively short compared to what it used to be, but it still takes me about 10-15 minutes to style it!

Stick to your skincare routine. Clearasil has recently come out with a new skincare line, and I got an opportunity to test it out and share my thoughts with you. The opportunity was brought to me by Clearasil and Refinery 29, and I hope you will find it helpful.

I have always had acne, from black heads to cystic, to everything in between, it seems like I was always dealing with something new on my face. Oh and acne scars, can’t forget about those. Did I also mention I am in my 20’s, and I am not even in my early 20’s? I used to use Clearasil back in the day, and I was excited to go back to it, especially to the new Cranberry/Raspberry super fruit formula! Because flawless skin is what gives me confidence throughout the day.

And what’s even better is you get to try Clearasil product for free with this amazing mail in rebate offer! So hurry, don’t let your skin imperfections stop you from becoming successful.

In Chains {Thrift Style Thursday}

I am tired. It’s been a long day. Wednesdays are always hard for me, because Tuesdays are my days off. So Wednesday becomes a second Monday of sorts. But I thrifted this amazing Ralph Lauren Dress with the chain print on Tuesday for only $8.99, and the shoes were brand new ($5.99) when I spotted them on the shoe rack at our St Louis Park Goodwill. And I saw that as a sign. That this weeks Thrift Style Thursday post has taken care of itself, and that I live by an amazing Goodwill! I was talking to another blogger about red shoes a couple weeks ago, and we talked about whether we should save or splurge when it comes to footwear. I think that I am at the point in my life, where I will be saving!

The wrap dress is perfect, it’s a thick fabric that holds it shape, the cut also helps create the illusion that I have something going on up on top, which trust me, I barely do (if you know what I mean 😉 ) I love the flow and the feel of it. When I pulled it off the rack I thought to myself – I am never going to make this work, but then I fell in love with it. And the amazing part is – the entire outfit cost me less than $15!

Have you found anything awesome at your local thrift stores lately? Do tell!

This weeks blogger challenge topic is High end vs. High street. And you guys know, I don’t buy knock offs, or replicas, but if I find anything resembling a design or an outfit, that I saw on the runway, I will definitely try and recreate that with my own items. When I lived in Russia knock-offs were really popular, and you could see 10-15 women walking down the street with LV bags, all of them fake of course. Now I am not going to sit here and defend the designer and the copyright, but it just makes me uneasy! A lot of stores these days make copies and replicas, look at Forever 21, or Aldo. There are plenty of choices. I choose thrifting, because saving up money for a Hermes or Celine bag, should never be your goal in life.

2. Monochrome
3. Maxi
4. Fur
5. Puffy Coat

Radiant Orchid {Thrift Style Thursday}

The number one perk of this color is that wearing it, no one will take you for a wall flower. Not that it’s my problem anyways. I like to stand out. Though last week, during my stay in New York, I was more or less blending in. I will share more about that later. Here is my thought. Whatever makes you happy, whatever makes you smile, wear that! I love this thrifted top, it was brand new when I bought it last year (isn’t that amazing how I can say last year even though it was only a few days ago?) and even though it’s more purple than radiant orchid, who sets the rules anyways?

And since the pictures for this post were taken last year, it would only make sense to share this photo

Happy New Year! 2014 is going to be awesome! And don’t forget to check out other Thrift Style Thursday Posts!

New Year in Thrift Style

$8.99 isn’t too shabby for a New Years party outfit! Especially when it’s a vintage black and gold jumpsuit! Jumpsuits are an amazing solution to an outfit dilemma that you may have. And just like dresses, I consider them a must in everyone’s wardrobe.

And even though it’s almost 2014, this outfit throws me back into 80’s, probably before I was even a thought!

What are you planning on wearing for New Year? Make sure to check other girls’ outfits for inspiration!

I’ve been sick for the past few days, and to be honest, it was a good few days to spend at home, but I am so glad for it to be over! Besides there is only 5 more days of work, and my trip to New York is only 10 days away!

What is it about a purse that a woman loves? Loves so much that she can never have enough of them? I am one of those women. Call me fashionista, call me hoarder, but when Philip Lim’s collection for Target launched, I was there in line, and went home with 3 purses. Yes, that’s me. My collection keeps growing, in spite of the small closet space. It keeps growing in spite of the fact that I know I don’t need any more bags. It keeps growing…

But there is nothing, I repeat nothing, that compares to the thrill and the joy of a designer, quality, leather thrifted purse. And that’s my brown coach bag right here for you. And that’s why my collection keeps growing! Thrift stores are full of amazing stylish chic purses that will complete your every outfit! Check them out!

My dress is Old Navy, boots are Mexx, bag is Coach, and a hand-knit thrifted sweater, leather gloves from Marshalls.

I am so happy you’ve joined me and the girls for yet another Thrift Style Thursday! It means a lot to us! We are also excited to welcome Justine of ! We are so excited to have you on board! Remember if you want to join Thrift Style Thursday all you need to do is shoot me a FB message or Tweet me! I am a social media junkie, I will respond within 5 minutes!

When picking out today’s theme, we went through a lot of options, but settled on hats! And I knew exactly the one I wanted to show off! If you follow my *ahem* writing career, you’ve probably read my posts for the Goodwill Blog . I featured this hat in the very first one! And because it is so fabulous, I will share it today, it only makes sense, because it snowed a whole lot here in Minneapolis!

I found this vintage hat at the Hopkins Goodwill and just couldn’t pass it! I had to have it, even though it is a tad bit too big! Well, I can always grow more hair, I thought, paid for the hat and went home! But isn’t it a beauty? It’s even worth having just for a collection sake!
