Spontaneous weekend getaways are my favorite. Sam and I used Valentine’s Day as an excuse to go down to Chicago and enjoy the 60 degree February weather that we had here! Today I want to share my weekend in outfits. Enjoy my journey from riverwalk to the beach, from Logan Square to Lincoln Park with a little West Loop and Village thrown in between, and don’t hesitate to link up with us 🙂
The velvet trend is one of my favorites this fall! I recently got this Crushed Velvet Swing Dress at Forever 21 for only $12.90 (I actually got it in both colors), and have been loving it! It’s so soft and easy, plus you can style it in so many different ways! It makes a nice addition to my vintage velvet dress collection.
Are you wearing velvet this season? How do you style it?

Zara has once again proved itself to be my happy place with this T-shirt. I love french fries, and this 70’s inspired font and color of the T.
Winter break has come and gone, and school starts again on Tuesday! It will be my last full semester at the University of Minnesota. I can’t believe I am only a short hop skip and a summer class away from graduation and starting my job in product development!
Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a happy 4th! I am really excited to share these photos that my friend Blake shot last week at the Rose Gardens by Lake Harriet. If you’ve never been there, and you live in Minneapolis – it’s a must see/go place this summer.
The skirt is from Shabby Apple, and it’s the kind of tulle skirt I’ve always wanted to have. I had a really hard time deciding between the lengths, but went for the maxi. It is so unique and special and makes me feel, well, like a princess.
I paired it with a few of my favorite pieces, like the graphic Tee from Minneapolis Institute of Art, and two of my button downs. The skirt calls for heels and fancy necklaces, as well as red lipstick and a lot of smiles.
A few of my friends, my husband and I are starting Whole30 tomorrow! So stay tuned for updates, and some delicious recipes! Meanwhile, twirl!
Moto 360 is a smart watch, Android operated, and probably the cheapest one on the market, starting at $250. It’s incredibly stylish, useful and perfect for people who are always on the go.
Moto 360 can only be paired up with an Android operated phone, so I got a second phone to carry around with me, and if you remember from a couple years ago when I had the Nokia Lumia in addition to my iPhone, I didn’t really like it that much. But this time I got a Moto X in wood, and it was actually a great phone to have. I didn’t feel like I needed a case for it, and I could just plug my AUX cable in the car and listen to my favorite stations on Pandora. I have a charging case on my iPhone, kind of a Mophie knock-off, which is too thick and I have to take it off in order to plug it back in.
Back to the Moto 360 though! It let me read my emails, if I had my contacts on the Moto X phone, it would let me read those too. It showed me traffic on the way home. It counted my steps, tracked my activity, and motivated me to actually walk more! It responded to my voice! There really was no reason for me not to like it. Not to mention my husband’s and friends’ reaction when they saw it.
Of course there were a few things that bothered me. The battery barely lasted me all day, I would often come home with less than 10% battery left. The watch itself was too big, and if I positioned my wrist in a certain way, it would push the side button showing me all screen background options possible. The new upgrade that I installed last week made the watch way more user friendly, than before. And finally the wide variety of apps available can be overwhelming
To be 100% honest though, I don’t think I will be getting the watch and switching to android any time soon. I know it may be narrow minded of me, but I love my Apple products, so I am going to stick to what I know, and get the next best thing when September comes around.
Last Monday I went to the very first Minnesota Blogger Bash. It was one of those rare times that I got to go to St Paul. Having lived in Minneapolis the whole time I’ve been in Minnesota, I rarely go to visit the other twin. The best part about going to St Paul and the meet up was car pooling with Tamara of Champagne and Macaroons, and Jess of Mimi and Chichi.
And of course I needed a new outfit for the event. Luckily I had Monday off and stopped by Opitz on Excelsior Blvd. If you’ve never been there, and you are reading this post, you need to go there now! It’s an amazing Outlet here in the Cities (there is another location in Minnetonka, which I don’t like as much to be honest). But they have all possible and impossible designer clothing there for a fraction of the cost. I scored this Milly dress for $30, and splurged on a Zac Posen dress that was $70.
Blogger Bash was amazing, I always enjoy hanging out with new and old blogger friends. And I really appreciate everyone who stops by to say hi! You make my day!
Did you come to the party? What did you think?
PS. A couple spoilers for the upcoming posts – My new favorite lipstick, 4th of July post featuring Sam (!!!), and why I never want to be a full time blogger 😉
We all have goals when it comes to personal style. Yesterday 2015 style resolutions even got brought up during #stylechat on Twitter! Today I though I’d share some of mine:
1. Wear more solids. I haven’t really been into patterns, and now every time I shop or thrift I seem to be gravitating towards solids (unless it’s a swimsuit!), I have cleaned out my closet a few times over the past month, and even though I have quiet a few patterns left, I am going to be wearing them with a lot of solids.
2. Wear more vintage. I go through “vintage craze” stages, and if before it was accessories, now it’s definitely clothes (denim, shirts and sweaters in particular). I have a couple velvet dresses that I can’t wait to show you.
3. Wear more handmade. I am trying to make more time to knit, crochet, sew and DIY some pieces for myself, as well as for my Etsy store, hopefully 2015 will be a good year for that, and I will stay organized and on top of stuff!
4. Wear what I already have. Thrifting lets me switch up my wardrobe every week. I could shop at a thrift store every week if I wanted to, but this year I am going to make an effort to wear what I already have, and shop less.
5. Have fun! I want to inspire with my outfits, but I also want to have fun! So if you see me wearing my husband’s graphic T-shirts, don’t be alarmed! I’m just having fun!
