My favorite part about the upcoming holidays? Giving Gifts of course! I love seeing people’s faces light up with excitement and joy! And while I may not be the best at wrapping gifts, I think I am pretty good at picking out gifts!
Over the past couple of years I’ve really enjoyed giving gifts to my co-workers, they are the people I spend most of my time with during the week after all!
prAna is one of the brands I am partnering with this holiday season to give you ideas about what kind of gifts you can get for your family, friends, and even yourself! prAna’s mission of making things better by giving…quality, durable and stylish clothing that’s thoughtfully designed is very close to my heart and I own a lot of their work out and casual clothing. I actually look forward to their catalog coming in the mail!
The outfit that I am wearing not only looks but feels good and can be transformative. I will be honest I was skeptical about the Kara Jean at first, because they are a low rise, but the fabric is so comfortable, stretchy and different, I actually wore these all weekend last week! I can wear them to work, but also out hiking and exploring, I am a big fan of day trips if you didn’t know!
The Rockaway Jacket not only keeps me warm and comfortable but also reminds me of the time I spent living in New York (there is a neighborhood in Queens with a very similar name). I call it my Far Rockaway Jacket 😉
Another cool thing about prAna is that during this holiday season they are really focused on giving back. prAna is committed to giving back to the people who produce the clothing, as well as their employees and the community. How are you giving back this holiday season?
If you love my outfit and want to check out more prAna styles visit their website at prAna.com, and if you choose to place an order, feel free to use code CMBZ17 to get 15% off your order!

Spontaneous weekend getaways are my favorite. Sam and I used Valentine’s Day as an excuse to go down to Chicago and enjoy the 60 degree February weather that we had here! Today I want to share my weekend in outfits. Enjoy my journey from riverwalk to the beach, from Logan Square to Lincoln Park with a little West Loop and Village thrown in between, and don’t hesitate to link up with us 🙂

Crushed Velvet

The velvet trend is one of my favorites this fall! I recently got this Crushed Velvet Swing Dress at Forever 21 for only $12.90 (I actually got it in both colors), and have been loving it! It’s so soft and easy, plus you can style it in so many different ways! It makes a nice addition to my vintage velvet dress collection.

Are you wearing velvet this season? How do you style it?

It was such a gorgeous weekend here in Milwaukee, not even the presidential debate could ruin it. I’ve been listening to Regina Spektor’s new album “Remember Us To Life” on my way to and from work lately and her song “The Light” has really been speaking to me. I wanted to share it with you today, and remind you that sometimes we just need to keep trying, keep going and be that light that shines on us. Of course there are days when I am more of a Grand Hotel personage, but remembering that light helps me get through the day 🙂

I’ve been obsessed with Kohl’s “Own your everyday runway” fall campaign, and I have to admit I own quiet a few pieces from that whole line up, including this Elle mock neck sleeveless turtleneck. It’s the softest coziest fall item in my closet at the moment, and did I mention I have it in 2 colors.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s been linking up with us every Monday for Monday Mode Link Up! It means the world to us! Your posts inspire me and help me stay on top of blogging.

Like I mentioned last week, Rachel, Jewel and I will now be picking our favorite posts from last week. These are the two looks that stood out to us the most:

Monday Mode Link Up

Monday Mode Link Up

Every time Monday comes around, I feel kind of cheated. The weekend flew by and instead of being a fun after party, the first day of the week always hits me like a bucket of cold water. I am slowly getting myself into a habit of enjoying this day of the week, being happy and looking forward to a new week!

I spent this weekend in Minneapolis, got to go to my favorite food places, a fashion show, but most importantly, I got to see my friends. I was hoping to have some photos of the outfit I wore by today, but unfortunately I don’t.

September is flying by so quickly, and while some may complain, I am so excited for October! Getting ready for friends and family to visit, Sam’s Birthday, and Halloween! Plus all the pumpkin patches and apple orchards to visit! I need to find some good ones in the Milwaukee area!

I hope you all had a fun filled weekend, make sure to add your latest blog posts to the link up! I can’t wait to check them out!

#ThriftStyleThursday A Jean Jacket // June 16 + Link Up

thrift style thursday denim jacket

Friendship is a wonderful thing. There are so many great humans that I’ve been able to meet through social media. Katelyn is one of them. She is a friend from Milwaukee I met through Instagram. Katelyn writes a blog called The Duck and The Owl with her roommate Sarah, as well as finds time to be an editor and creative assistant at The Crybaby Club. All that on top of being a rock star English teacher!

We got to spend an amazing afternoon in Minneapolis yesterday! Walked all over downtown, Loring Park, hung out with my family and friends. We ended the day with a happy hour on one of the rooftops.

Thrift Style Thursday linkups are a way to make new friends too. I’ve never really met any of you in person, but every week I get to know you better. Social media works in mysterious ways. I was reading the New York Times over the weekend, the wedding announcement section, and about half of the couples met online (that included but wasn’t limited to Tinder, Ok Cupid, etc.). If someone can meet a significant other online, it only makes sense we can use it to find new friends. Lately, I’ve been meeting more and more local bloggers through Instagram, going out for coffee or drinks, sharing my blogging experience, etc. It’s so easy to network these days, don’t miss your chance!

I wore this thrifted Trouve knitted dress, paired with my favorite thrifted lucky jacket, and my vintage Coach cross body bag. I think a good denim jacket is a must have in everyone’s closet, and a neutral color dress is a perfect layering piece for any season!

Make sure to join the linkup, share your looks and posts, and help us spread the word if you have a minute!

Whatever, I am getting French Fries

Zara has once again proved itself to be my happy place with this T-shirt. I love french fries, and this 70’s inspired font and color of the T.

Winter break has come and gone, and school starts again on Tuesday! It will be my last full semester at  the University of Minnesota. I can’t believe I am only a short hop skip and a summer class away from graduation and starting my job in product development!

Happy New Year!

Shabby Apple Tulle Skirt

I hope everyone had a happy 4th! I am really excited to share these photos that my friend Blake shot last week at the Rose Gardens by Lake Harriet. If you’ve never been there, and you live in Minneapolis – it’s a must see/go place this summer.

The skirt is from Shabby Apple, and it’s the kind of tulle skirt I’ve always wanted to have. I had a really hard time deciding between the lengths, but went for the maxi. It is so unique and special and makes me feel, well, like a princess.

I paired it with a few of my favorite pieces, like the graphic Tee from Minneapolis Institute of Art, and two of my button downs. The skirt calls for heels and fancy necklaces, as well as red lipstick and a lot of smiles.

A few of my friends, my husband and I are starting Whole30 tomorrow! So stay tuned for updates, and some delicious recipes! Meanwhile, twirl!

Moto 360 Experience

IMG_0779Thanks to internship/work/Verizon, I was able to get a Moto 360 on my wrist for about a week. Now I’m finally ready to share my thoughts about it.

Moto 360 is a smart watch, Android operated, and probably the cheapest one on the market, starting at $250. It’s incredibly stylish, useful and perfect for people who are always on the go.

Moto 360 can only be paired up with an Android operated phone, so I got a second phone to carry around with me, and if you remember from a couple years ago when I had the Nokia Lumia in addition to my iPhone, I didn’t really like it that much. But this time I got a Moto X in wood, and it was actually a great phone to have. I didn’t feel like I needed a case for it, and I could just plug my AUX cable in the car and listen to my favorite stations on Pandora. I have a charging case on my iPhone, kind of a Mophie knock-off, which is too thick and I have to take it off in order to plug it back in.

Back to the Moto 360 though! It let me read my emails, if I had my contacts on the Moto X phone, it would let me read those too. It showed me traffic on the way home. It counted my steps, tracked my activity, and motivated me to actually walk more! It responded to my voice! There really was no reason for me not to like it. Not to mention my husband’s and friends’ reaction when they saw it.

Of course there were a few things that bothered me. The battery barely lasted me all day, I would often come home with less than 10% battery left. The watch itself was too big, and if I positioned my wrist in a certain way, it would push the side button showing me all screen background options possible. The new upgrade that I installed last week made the watch way more user friendly, than before. And finally the wide variety of apps available can be overwhelming

To be 100% honest though, I don’t think I will be getting the watch and switching to android any time soon. I know it may be narrow minded of me, but I love my Apple products, so I am going to stick to what I know, and get the next best thing when September comes around.

My Milly

IMG_0750

IMG_0749

Last Monday I went to the very first Minnesota Blogger Bash. It was one of those rare times that I got to go to St Paul. Having lived in Minneapolis the whole time I’ve been in Minnesota, I rarely go to visit the other twin. The best part about going to St Paul and the meet up was car pooling with Tamara of Champagne and Macaroons, and Jess of Mimi and Chichi.

And of course I needed a new outfit for the event. Luckily I had Monday off and stopped by Opitz on Excelsior Blvd. If you’ve never been there, and you are reading this post, you need to go there now! It’s an amazing Outlet here in the Cities (there is another location in Minnetonka, which I don’t like as much to be honest). But they have all possible and impossible designer clothing there for a fraction of the cost. I scored this Milly dress for $30, and splurged on a Zac Posen dress that was $70.

Blogger Bash was amazing, I always enjoy hanging out with new and old blogger friends. And I really appreciate everyone who stops by to say hi! You make my day!

Did you come to the party? What did you think?

PS. A couple spoilers for the upcoming posts – My new favorite lipstick, 4th of July post featuring Sam (!!!), and why I never want to be a full time blogger 😉
