What’s going on?

I quit my Beauty Advisor job at Macy’s to go be a toddler teacher. I couldn’t be more excited! Imagine working Monday through Friday, having weekends and holidays off. Oh, wait that’s how you all live and function out there. Anyways, I am one of you now! My husband couldn’t be more excited too!

We are also trying to decide whether to stay in our current apartment or move. After we saw the other available apartments in our building, my hopes went kind of down. We currently live in an apartment facing the highway, and I can’t sleep on top of the highway anymore, but we have a lot of sunlight throughout the day, the ceilings are high, and I have a ton of storage space. One of the apartments we saw yesterday was all carpeted, that immediately made me feel claustrophobic. The other one was nice, but the bedroom was facing the dumpster, there was no ceiling light in the living room, and no storage space. And they want $800 a month for those? UGH I am frustrated at the moment. So if you live in downtown Minneapolis and know of a great 1 Bedroom, let me know! Thanks!

I also decided to splurge and take advantage of my Macy’s discount for one last time, and get some stuff for myself (and tomorrow we are shopping for Sam). So I got some Origins!

I got Modern Friction and Clear Improvements, have already tried the first one, love it! The samples are of  VitaZing, which I own the full size of and LOVE! and Plantscription Anti-Aging serum! I also got this awesome Origins Mug, and you can decorate it the way you want to! That inside piece comes out and you can stick whatever you like in there 🙂 I tried Modern Friction last night and it’s amazing! The idea is kind of similar to Clinique’s 7 day scrub, but the ingredients are completely different, and so is the effect! Skin is more radiant and soft. Plus it’s not as harsh as Clinique’s scrub, and has a nice scent (as you know all Clinique products are unscented). Okay, you probably all think that I hate Clinique now, I don’t, it’s just there are things that work for some and don’t for others!

I think I will write more about why I decided to quit retail later this weekend, there are some things that I just want to share and get off my chest! One thing for sure – I’ll miss my awesome co-workers!

Have a fabulous day everyone and an awesome Labor Day Weekend!

Cheers,

Z

Makeup No More

Happy hump day! How is your week going? Mine is pretty, well if we put it in my husband’s best friend’s words – shnazzy (is that how you spell shnazzy? I hope so!)

First of all, let me share something with you:

– Working in retail turns you into a mean, spiteful person, who constantly wants to make fun of other people, especially customers. So let’s all try and be a perfect customer to each other shall we?

– Working in retail turns you into a helpful and compassionate person, who is supportive and loving of his coworkers, so lets be that coworker to each other!

– Sometimes helping each other pays off, today it paid off in:

Another thing that’s been on my mind today and honestly for a while is

“I SHOULD STOP BUYING MAKEUP”

Here is why:

And this is how it’s all organized in and on my dresser:

Now being the geek that I have been this past week, I came up with some numbers. So my collection includes:

5 Blushes

3 Powders

2 Bronzers

2 Highlighters

1 BB Cream

1 Tinted Moisturizer

1 VitaZing

1 Foundation

11 Liners:

– 7 gel

– 1 liquid

– 4 pencils

10 Mascaras:

– 1 Primer

– 1 Clear

– 1 Blue

– 7 Black

Lipsticks:

– 1 Lipliner

– 6 glosses, plus whatever is at work (about 3, I think)

– 2 chubby sticks

– 4 lipsticks

2 Serums and 1 Primer (I know these are mainly skincare, but they have snuck in the pictures somehow)

5 Concealers:

– 1 Brightening

– 1 Dark Circle corrector

– 1 Acne corrector

– 2 regular ones

1 Eyeshadow base ( 🙂 )

34 Nailpolishes

4 Shimmer Powders

6 Eyeshadow singles

23 Eyeshadow Palettes, 10 of which include blushes, bronzer and/or highlighters, then 5 of these include lipsticks and glosses

Now you know why I am going to stop buying make up. I don’t know how long it’s going to take me to use those things up, some items will run out/expire faster than others, but the goal is to use up as much items as possible 🙂 And I will definitely keep you updated!

Also, please no judgement on my collection, it is what it is 🙂

Zhenya

Currently Obsessed With…

1. Shamballa Bracelets – those babies are popping up everywhere, from blogs, to Olympian’s wrists:

2. Origins VitaZing SPF 15 – it hydrates, energizes and protects to maintain skin’s momentum all day. I love it!

3. The Balm’s Nude Tude palette and Translucent Powder – Sexy Mama – I just got those from HauteLook.com the other day – and am in absolute delight 🙂

4. Reading Face Forward by Kevyn Aucoin

5. Styling Denim shirts – I’ve got 3 of those already 🙂

Happy Friday everyone, what are you currently obsessed with?

xo,

Zhenya

PS. I also thought that Vika Komova totally deserved gold today, she was wonderful in her last routine!

Review: Origins A Perfect World SPF 25

Today’s post is entirely dedicated to Origins’ A Perfect World SPF 25 Moisturizer. We all want to live in a perfect world, don’t we? Especially if it also protects us from the sun! The brand is rather popular in the US, not so sure about Russia and Europe. This moisturizer usually comes in a packaging like this:

But mine came in a tube, and I got it for free on Earth Day (April, 22) at the Origins counter at Macy’s when I recycled a Physician’s Formula tinted moisturizer.

It ususally retails for $39.50 before tax, but free is better, in my case free turned out to be a pretty good deal, for both my wallet and my skin! It’s perfect for the summer too!

I’ve been using this moisturizer every AM since I got it, it’s not a very good night time product because of the SPF, unless you need SPF at night 😉

It has a light citrus scent, mixed in with the wonderful smell of SPF! It’s easy to apply, it absorbs fast, and it doesn’t create any greasiness. It’s best used if you have dry combination skin (raise your hand if you fall into the same category as me!) As far as I understand, this is a second “edition” of A Perfect World, the first one lacked SPF.

For those of you who don’t know, Origins is paraben, mineral oil, paraffin and other nasty stuff free!

This is what the moisturizer looks like out of the packaging:

It’s really hard to find anything wrong with this product. I do admit, I like having it in a tube more than a jar. I simply believe that it doesn’t come into as much contact with air being in a tube, thus keeping it’s qualities and main features.

I was also rather smitten by it’s expiration date – it’s good for 24 months (that’s 2 whole years), it’s just always seemed to me that such natural products as this one, should last a lot less (compare: The Balm’s expiration date is 6 months after opening).

Overall, this moisturizer is getting a 4 out of 5 stars in my book! And hopefully Origins will have more products like this for other skin types. Have you tried it? What do you think?

Cheers,

Z

Xoxo,

Z
