Kid Koala Nufonia Must Fall Review

Kid Koala Nufonia Must Fall

Kid Koala Nufonia Must Fall Kid Koala Nufonia Must Fall

Kid Koala Nufonia Must Fall is a beautiful love story between a robot and a human, spiced with everyday issues and troubles we all face unraveled before my eyes last Saturday night at the Walker Art Center. Having gotten the tickets as hand-me downs from my in-laws, Sam and I didn’t know what to expect. And that was the best part.

The show featured a puppet theater, that we got to tour afterwards, video, a string quartet and a nest of electric instruments. You could watch the musicians, or the screen, or the puppeteers, and be equally entertained. The experience could be described as entertainment borderline fascination.

T4 Robot is the main character, who works as a customer service rep then a sandwich maker is the main character.  He wears over the ear headphones and records everything that’s going on around him on cassettes. He seems to be in his own little world, wrapped up in his problems. After T4’s boss replaces him with a new robot that features 8 arms, and can do 4 times more work, T4 leaves the building, he shares the elevator down with a girl named Malorie, who becomes his love interest. Malorie has a coy smile, a pet cricket and two tickets to go on vacation. As the story unfolds her interest for T4 becomes obvious, and not to spoil things further, I recommend checking out the show if it comes to your city.

As dramatic as some of the scenes were, quiet a few generated laughter. There were even a few local references here and there (Target, Surly and MSP airport here’s looking at you).

In the end it was a story of how our daily struggles are nothing compared to the love and laughter we share with those close to us.

Knit Skirt

DSC_0432 DSC_0434 DSC_0430

This knit skirt doesn’t get out that much, but likely it’s still cold in Minneapolis, so I can wear it out a few more times before spring finally gets here.

Last week I was on break and it started off with a trip to Milwaukee with Lexi, meeting new friends (here is looking at you Sarah and Kaitlyn), exploring new neighborhoods, and catching up with old friends. Fascinated by lake Michigan, I didn’t want to leave. Only 4 more months left.

In the next few months I will be trying to cross some stuff off my Minneapolis bucket list, so stay tuned for that and follow along!

Last Friday I had a chance to finally see Samantha Rei and Apatico new F/W 2015 collection that I have been stalking on Instagram and Facebook since the end of last year. And it was amazing! The collection made the 28 year old me want to go to prom, get married, and go to all sorts of fabulous events that I have been lucky enough to attend again. The whimsical spirit of the designer, perfectly paired up with Apatico’s head pieces in the 1912 Gale mansion was some sort of a new age fashion time machine, make me forget the year and the date on the calendar.

Rei’s collection, inspired by 1920’s Shanghai was filled with sequins, beading, fur and feathers in black, lavender, gold, silver, mint, royal blue and forest green. It was magically unforgettable for this trouble maker.

Thank you again for an amazing night Samantha!

And if you ever wondered what a top knot does to your hair… Well, here is the answer!

{27 DRESSES} Dress 1: It’s my Birthday

Have you seen that Birthday episode of How I met your Mother, where Lilly goes –

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!

?

And I am actually excited to be 27! But 26 has been really good to me! I like my job, I love blogging, I really feel like BeingZhenya.com has actually gotten somewhere over the past year, and it’s only going to continue developing and being there for you, to hopefully inspire and encourage you! We got a house, I mean who would’ve thought that a small town girl from Russia would actually be living far far away from home and doing what she loves!

I do get an occasional hater who comments and says – Zhenya, you moved all the way from Russia, now work at a day care, shop at thrift stores, your life sucks. And even though those comments get deleted, I just want to tell you, that life is what you make out of it, and I feel like my life is just beginning now, and it’s wonderful. I hope you all have a wonderful day today, and a wonderful life. And now a few shots from my Birthday that we celebrated with my family yesterday!

Enjoy,

Z

I have finally decided to stop caring, and start wearing my weekend aka nice clothes to work. You know when you have a job which implies getting dirty? And you start saving the better clothes for the weekend? Kind of? Well, there are only so many weekends in the year! And after wearing this to my daycare job today, and hearing the compliments from parents and my co-teachers, this rule stays 🙂

Dandelion Queen

2013-05-18 16.35.38

Saturday after all the rain has passed, Sam and I went to one of our favorite places in the Twin Cities – Lake of the Isles. If you’ve never been to the Twin Cities, that  is probably the number one place I would recommend you go to! We don’t have Central Park, like some of you, lucky New Yorkers, but we love what we’ve got!

And of course I had to take advantage of my new Samsung Galaxy camera*, and get some shots!

Savers Thrift Superstore Grand Opening in Coon Rapids, MN

2013-04-23 19.00.21

Tonight Sam and I went on a little adventure to Coon Rapids. We rarely go up there, but this time we had a perfect reason – the opening of the new Savers! I received a special invitation and a gift certificate to jump start my spring shopping!

The store was packed! Everyone who is a Savers Club Card holder got an email to attend this event! The parking lot was filled (good thing it was a big one!)

My number one goal was to find the store manager and get my hands on the rewards certificate! I also ran into another Minnesota blogger – Jackie of Teal and Lime!

We got a quick tour of the store, (THANK YOU, HEIDI! You were amazing!) and went on to shop!

As some of you may know I have an exciting event coming up, which is 100% blog related (I had someone ask me if I was getting married the other day 🙂 ) Anyways, there were a few things that I pulled off the racks, which included a size M Sisley blazer, a French Connection dress, a few vintage pieces, but I ended up not buying anything, because the line was ridiculously long! I think Sam and I are going to hit another Savers this weekend, and hopefully it’ll be a more calming experience! Plus I had to go pick something up from FedEx (again for my upcoming mystery trip! – are you intrigued yet?)

As usual there were rows and rows of clothing, shoes, books, household goods, anything that you can imagine! And there were people everywhere!

As it also turns out one of their first sales that night was Leaves of Grass signed by Walt Whitman himself! I was just thinking about him and that book a few days ago, his poem “I hear America Singing…” was going through my head…

It is a great store, reminded me a lot of the one in Oakdale (size wise especially)! There is so much to look for, that I know I wouldn’t have possibly had time to look through everything in the few hours that it was open! And even though this store is out of the way, I will definitely considering coming back here in the future!

I hope you all had a great day, keep on spreading thrift love and joy!

My Adventures in Juicing

Yes, dear readers, I fell a victim to one of the most popular trends that can take place in your kitchen – juicing! Having watched some documentary on Netflix, I think it was called Hungry for Change, I started researching and googling different juicers everywhere I went! I kid you not, I tweeted about juicers, stalked people on Instagram, asking them which one they use, etc etc

And finally I got one! A GE 800 watt Juice Extractor:

537018_10152762267430604_1277097443_n

This juicer usually runs for about $50, and is considered a good started juicer. I bought it for $25, at the Salvation Army Target Overstock in the Warehouse District in Minneapolis (let me know if you need directions 😉 )

There were two juicers there at the time, this one, and another, I forget the brand, but it cost $60! Knowing me, and my husband, who didn’t want to spend the extra money, I got the cheaper one, besides it came with the box, which made me trust it more! I also took it all out, including the instructions, read everything 3 times over, including 20+ reviews on the internet (which went from great juicer to this product sucks) and headed for the check out!

Let me be honest with you, so far it’s great! I am not going to say that it’s the best $25 I’ve ever spent, no I don’t think so, but I got myself a pretty good deal, a great juicer, and a healthier diet thanks to it!

Of course when you buy a product like this your first urge is to juice everything in the house, even the foods that don’t go in there! Hold your urge! Talk to friends or read blogs about juicing, then start your process!

Here is what I learned after 1 week of everyday juicing:

– Never ever juice a grapefruit!

– Tomato juice is actually pink, not red!

– One cucumber contains about 12 oz of juice!

– Carrot juice is neon orange and I love it!

– One 8 oz glass of fresh juice will last you up to 5 hours with no food!

– There are way more people who juice on Instagram than I thought!

– Juicing is considered a part of raw foods movement

– Some people recommend to detox using fresh juice 3 days out of the month, every month!

– I have been doing dishes more regularly with the juicer!

– It’s better to juice into a tall glass than a short glass (just because it’s easier to prevent spilling)

– You can use left over pulp for muffins or combine it with cat/dog food!

There is so much to learn about this, and even though I sound sarcastic at times, I am absolutely happy with my new toy! Sam on the other hand isn’t, he says it’s gross! And asks me not to let him smell it 🙂

Now about the juices! I have been trying to document each and every one of them on Instagram last week, to make it easier for me when I was going to blog about it! I think it worked:

Carrot and apple juice (about 2 apples and 4 carrots for 8 oz)

526384_10152773020280604_2000751850_n

Orange, carrot and kiwi juice (I can’t remember how much I used of each fruit now, but I know for sure there was only 1 kiwi!)

559894_10152775717700604_1141979427_n

Cucumber, celery, tomato (loved this combo, and cucumber juice alone!)

60601_10152778257195604_1094788448_n

Pineapple, celery juice

555863_10152779335565604_1194666629_n

Have you ever tried juicing? If so, how did you like it?

Have a great day everyone,

Xo,

Z
