Mock Neck Turtleneck + Monday Mode Link Up

It was such a gorgeous weekend here in Milwaukee, not even the presidential debate could ruin it. I’ve been listening to Regina Spektor’s new album “Remember Us To Life” on my way to and from work lately and her song “The Light” has really been speaking to me. I wanted to share it with you today, and remind you that sometimes we just need to keep trying, keep going and be that light that shines on us. Of course there are days when I am more of a Grand Hotel personage, but remembering that light helps me get through the day šŸ™‚

I’ve been obsessed with Kohl’s “Own your everyday runway” fall campaign, and I have to admit I own quiet a few pieces from that whole line up, including this Elle mock neck sleeveless turtleneck. It’s the softest coziest fall item in my closet at the moment, and did I mention I have it in 2 colors.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s been linking up with us every Monday for Monday Mode Link Up! It means the world to us! Your posts inspire me and help me stay on top of blogging.

Like I mentioned last week, Rachel, Jewel and I will now be picking our favorite posts from last week. These are the two looks that stood out to us the most:

I feel like I’ve moved to Seattle, no really! The soft drizzle of the rain this weekend, not only helped me catch up on my sleep, but motivated me to go to the gym (because what else is there to do?). I’ve been baking and cooking, and roasting squash, you know it must be fall!

This outfit is a combination of my recent purchases, vintage and thrift finds, and the latest turtleneck trend that’s been popping up everywhere!

I hope you had a great weekend, once again, Jewel, Rachel and I are excited to share Monday ModeĀ link up with you, and we can’t wait to see your latest and greatest! Starting next week we’ll be choosing our favorite style post of the week and featuring the blogger in our next week’s post šŸ™‚ Who is excited?

Monday Mode Link Up

Monday Mode Link Up

Every time Monday comes around, I feel kind of cheated. The weekend flew by and instead of being a fun after party, the first day of the week always hits meĀ like a bucket of cold water. I am slowly getting myself into a habit of enjoying this day of the week, being happy and looking forward to a new week!

I spent this weekend in Minneapolis, got to go to my favorite food places, a fashion show, but most importantly, I got to see my friends. I was hoping to have some photos of the outfit I wore by today, but unfortunately I don’t.

September is flying by so quickly, and while some may complain, I am so excited for October! Getting ready for friends and family to visit, Sam’s Birthday, and Halloween! Plus all the pumpkin patches and apple orchards to visit! I need to find some good ones in the Milwaukee area!

I hope you all had a fun filled weekend, make sure to add your latest blog posts to the link up! I can’t wait to check them out!

Neck Scarf + Monday Mode Link Up

Happy Monday, we are back with another Monday Mode Link Up today! This is a look I wore when we toured Miller Brewery a couple weeks ago. I have been into the skinny scarf trend lately. I feel like they go with everything, and are such an easy accessory for everyone to pull off. I am definitely looking to add to my scarf collection now šŸ™‚ Another trend that I am loving and looking to repeat in next week’s post is layering t-shirts under dresses. For me, it’s one of the easiest ways to add some interest to a summer dress and transition it into fall!

If you are in Milwaukee and have a few hours to spare, I would definitely recommend going on the Miller brewery tour. It’s about an hour long, you get to visit the original caves where they stored barrels of beer in the 19th century. And of course there is beer in the end! And did I mention it’s free?

I will be in Minneapolis next weekend for Envision, it’s their anniversary show that I didn’t want to miss. So stay tuned for a lot of Insta updates.

Congrats to Jessica W for winning our giveaway! We would love to see pics, so tag us when you post them! And now for the link up!

Suede story

suede story suede story

Outfit: These faux suede culottes are definitely a favorite. I have to admit that sometimes I am hesitant to put them on, but they are so comfy, they always win me over. I paired them with a fringe hem top, blue slip ons and a denim jacket. Easiest outfit of them all, but I got so many complements the day I wore it.

Life: Yesterday I got to visit Miller Brewery, so stay tuned for photos and recap later this week. I can’t believe I’ve been in Milwaukee for a month already, time does fly by fast when you are having fun (or working a corporate job).

I have a confession to make, I am on a spending ban when it comes to shopping for clothes. Sam has been really good about keeping me in line and resisting unnecessary buys. I do have a few gift cards up my sleeve, but other than that – no new clothes for who knows how long. I am working really hard on getting rid of a few more pieces (selling on Poshmark and ThredUp), keeping only items that fit well and make me happy. So if you see similar outfits, or the same pieces over and over again, you’ll know why!

Coming up: I am trying a new service which allows you to sell new and used makeup, called Glambot. The ad just popped up on my Facebook today, and I realized it was time to get rid of a lot of my palettes. Tuesday my juice cleanse is supposed to come in. I will start it on Wednesday, and will keep track of everything (including lbs, calories, and starvation thoughts) to share with you next week.

Listen: Favorite songs of the week: Throw Down your Guns by Wild Belle and Looking for Knives by Dyan. Can you tell there is a weapons theme going on?Ā I know everyone tends to come up with their own song meanings, but all i can think of when I listen to these two songs is love, and peace.

Stripes

Stripes Stripes Stripes Stripes Stripes

Outfit: Black and white x 2! Stripes are always a good idea no matter what season or place. I wore this oversized top with faux leather pleated skirtĀ and platform sandals. Accidental twinning with Kaitlyn made this look even more memorable šŸ˜‰

Life: Getting used to Milwaukee more and more each day, discovering new places and parks. Absolutely loved Atwater beach, where these photos were taken. Sam and I stopped by the Milwaukee Art Museum today to see American Epics exhibit, wandered through the gift shop, took the long way home along the lake front.

Last week I tried Zumba for the first time, gym is definitely becoming one of my favorite places to go to. Are you as surprised as I am? I have also ordered my very first juice cleanse (Jus by Julie) over the weekend. I won’t start it till August 30, and it’s only a 3 day one, but I will definitely share my experience with you once it’s over.

Listen: Here are top five songs that are on my Spotify playlist this month:

Outfit: Bright redĀ lipstick, neon belt and my new favorite blue shoes are the key pieces in this simple outfit. The shirt dress is another proof that black and white areĀ my go to colors and I won’t beĀ gravitating away from them anytime soon.

Life: I am officially a Milwaukeean, all moved into a new apartment, finally unpacked and feeling at home. A part of me still can’t believe that I am finally here, a university graduate, working my first corporate job. I’ve been waiting for this moment since November, but it all seems so surreal to me still.

Miscellaneous: Sam and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary yesterday.

I’ve been insanely obsessed with the gym.

Frustrated by the lack of Targets in the area.

Mesmerized by the beauty of lake Michigan.

PS. Thank you Megan for the photos!

Monday Motivation

Monday motivation Monday motivation Monday motivation Monday motivation

With our kind of happening at the momentĀ move, my new job, trying to figure out our way around a new city and everything else in between, I decided it would be wise to create some sort of a blog schedule to stick to. My Monday motivation is to figure what thatĀ schedule will be. I am leaning towards a two posts a week schedule, that will allow me to write one style and one beauty related post. I think this will be the easiest thing to do, since I can shoot an outfit over the weekend, as well as focus on a beauty product review or creating my monthly favorites round up. What do you guys think? I don’t want to aim for the moon at this point. I am preparing myself for an exciting, yet challenging stage in my life, and want to take things slow. If any of you have tips on how to do that, they would be greatly appreciated. I don’t want to give up on blogging, as I am enjoying it immensely. However, I don’t want it to take over my free time.

Sam and I went to Milwaukee for a hot second over theĀ weekend. It was a really short trip, we left MinneapolisĀ on Saturday around 8.30 am, and came back on Sunday around 6 pm. All we wanted to do is get keys to our new apartment, and move in as much stuff as weĀ fit the night before into his mom’s car (which is a lot bigger than ours). When we were unpacking, some of the boxses’ contents was a total surprise to me. You see, the stuff has been packed since end of May, early June, so I forgot what was in what box. And the onlyĀ labeling I did was writeĀ “Fragile” on some of the boxes.

One of the reasons I am really excited about our new apartment, and why we decided against getting a house, is the opportunity to downsize. I have piles of stuff I’ve been planning on using in my DIY projects, clothes that I will “someday” wear, office supplies, etc. I think I’ve been able to downsize significantly since we sold our house, but I want to organize everything as well. That’s why a couple weeks ago I bought two books on the KonMari method. I will definitely keep you posted on how that goes. So stay tuned.

All of the photos in the post are from my photoshoot for ALACLOTH! I have some rad jeans one too! I will definitely miss my Minneapolis blogger/social media family, so if you are in Milwaukee or know someone there, send them my way! I am a firm believer that blogger friends are the best friends!

Knit Skirt

DSC_0432 DSC_0434DSC_0430

This knit skirt doesn’t get out that much, but likely it’s still cold in Minneapolis, so I can wear it out a few more times before spring finally gets here.

Last week I was onĀ breakĀ and it started off with a trip to Milwaukee with Lexi, meeting new friends (here is looking at you Sarah and Kaitlyn), exploring new neighborhoods, and catching up with old friends. Fascinated by lake Michigan, I didn’t want to leave. Only 4 more months left.

In the next few months I will be trying to cross some stuff off my Minneapolis bucket list, so stay tuned for that and follow along!

Surgery and Other Things

12188031_10156290541995604_1323498973396175827_o

Hi friends,

Typing today is difficult, literally. I had an elbow surgery last week, and am still in a splint, which is supposed to come off tomorrow (can you hear me yell CAN’T WAIT!!!), but I’ve been down to one hand when it comes to typing, doing dishes, putting on makeup, and all the other things you do with two hands.

Here is the list of things I miss doing with my left hand/arm the most:

  1. Doing my hair and makeup.
  2. Flossing.
  3. Driving.
  4. Wearing my wedding rings.
  5. Typing.
  6. Cooking and cleaning.
  7. Knitting and crocheting.
  8. Carrying stuff.
  9. Opening a jar.
  10. Being able to hug Sam and scratch Mason at the same time when I sit between the two of them on the couch.

Over the past two weeks I had an amazing opportunity to travel to Milwaukee and Seattle for job interviews. And this story, unlike the trip and fall has a happy ending. I have a job lined up after college. It’s still surreal and I sometimes have to pinch myself, but I am beyond excited.

12184077_10156290797255604_4055501933607648329_o

Milwaukee was unbelievably warm at 70 F when we landed on Thursday. A strange mix between St Paul and Chicago, it was captivating. I couldn’t stop exploring, and may have ended up barefoot in the streets, because I couldn’t take my heels any longer. But it’s all snapchat history now.

12241046_10156311880320604_5292109361112765307_o

Seattle was amazing. I’ve never been to the West Coast before, and it was beautiful with all it’s rain, water and mountains. There is a Russian place called Piroshky Piroshky, and even though they didn’t have the Vatrushka I wanted, I got my Russian pastry fix and a discount on top of that. I also got to meet a lot of amazing people and see one of the fastest growing companies that has been making a lot of news from the inside.

I will be back more often now, I promise. I think I’ve promised it at the end of every post lately, but I will be, I am going to try!
