Story of the day: I am at Jo-Ann Fabrics with my mother-in-law, shopping for my Singer sewing kit. They had 2 in the entire store! It wasn’t even on the top shelf, it was on top of the top shelf. Plus there was no price tag anywhere! (So if any one working at Jo-Ann Fabrics is reading this, please organize your store better). Now I knew that this kit was $20 at Target, and I was more than shocked when the girl at the register rang it up as $32.something before tax! Now most of the stores do price matching, so I opened my mouth, and out came all the reasonings why they should reduce the price of the sewing kit. Now the girl wasn’t helping, even after I showed her the picture on my phone. Finally she sent me over to another register and the nice manager gave me Sunday’s (!) sale price, so I only paid a little over $18! Moral of the story: The customer is ALWAYS right!

Anyways, DIY Fridays are back, especially now that the sewing machine is in da house! Okay, I am dropping the gangsta talk, but you know what I mean. And if you are lucky enough, I might drop another DIY once a week in addition to Fridays!

Today, I am going to teach you how to put a horse on a tote bag! First you need to find a pattern for a tote! I used this one - http://www.skiptomylou.org/2009/07/17/how-to-make-a-simple-reversible-totebag/

Then find a picture of a horse, it’s better if it’s just an outline, print it out, and cut it out too! (duh!):

Now transfer the horse onto the fabric of your choice, I had some felt scraps. You don’t need the special fabric marker or soap or anything, I just used a pen!

 Then you cut out the fabric horse, and pin it to the fabric you’ve picked out for the tote! Now the important thing is – sew the horse to the tote BEFORE you assemble the tote!

Now this is where the story ends, because in spite of the fact that the tote was laying around for a couple days, it is now on it’s way to Iowa to my sister’s-in-law house, because that’s a part of her Christmas gift. I am sorry for not taking a picture, but it is what it is, at least now you know how to put a horse on a tote!
