My Philip Lim

Yes, I got up at 7 am on a Sunday to go to Target and shop the Philip Lim collection! I am not going to extensively write about the experience, I am sure you’ve all been there done that (or not), but it was very civilized, no one was running or trampling over other shoppers’ bodies. This definitely wasn’t the Black Friday Wal-Mart edition.

I was the third in line, one of the store employees came out and talked to us, made sure we were all going to behave and assigned one of the shoppers son as a bouncer :)

He also kept calling him Lin, so we had to correct him :)

I got all I wanted and maybe even more, those of you who follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen it all, and you also know that I will be giving away one of the items that I bought. So if you missed out on the whole thing, don’t worry. Plus I don’t think this collection will sell out like Missoni did a couple years ago. Sure some items will, but there will be plenty left!

Also, consider opening a Target card, if you are like me (a crazy shopper and all), you do have good chances of saving some money! Another way to go is through ShopKick app, I redeemed a $5 gift card right at the register. It wasn’t much, but everything helped. I think I ended up saving a little over $10!

Savers Thrift Haul

One of my favorite Savers in the Twin Cities area is located in Woodbury, and last Saturday I finally got to go there! And of course I scored :) How could I not! I will be honest with you though, some of the finds might surprise you, but it’s all about confidence and whether or not you can pull it off ;) I also feel like some of you who have just started following me, might enjoy not just a picture, but a video post! Here is my Thrift Haul, which includes an answer to a question every thriftier has asked themselves at least once: What’s inside those jewelry jars? You know the ones they price at $10-$15 and fill with chachkies? I always thought they were broken pieces of jewelry and was going to repurpose them, but it turns out that all of the pieces are absolutely fine!

Everything but the watch and the necklace around it came from the Savers Jewelry Jar! Watch is Marc by Marc Jacobs, and the necklace that I am wearing as a bracelet is vintage, it used to belong to my grandma, I brought it from Russia!

In my next post we’ll talk more about the Mustard color wool jacket! I have a very easy solution to the oversized jacket problem!

Have a great weekend!

I don’t know about you, but I am going sailing!

Thrift Haul Where Shoulder Pads come to DIE!

Let’s call it my Christmas Thrift Haul! My finds are as unpredictable, as Minnesota weather! Megan from Mr C. & Me and I have been planning this thrift trip for a while, but last weeks SNOWPOCALYPSE delayed it. This weekend it rained… Yes, Global Warming is getting the best of our winters (I can always go back to Russia for that, but I hear it’s not going that well there either :) )

I also dragged Dominika with us, and the clothes that she got is absolutely amazing! Especially (SPOILER ALERT!) vintage Christian Dior pants! But more on that later!

Our first stop was Arc Value Village in Richfield, where we found the Dior pants, as well as some Ed Hardy shoes. But being the geniuses that we are, we didn’t get the pants.

Then we hit up Goodwill in Bloomington, and Dominika found this amazing fuchsia shirt, and well, that’s when we went back to Arc to get those pants! Thank goodness they were still there!

Our next and final stop was Savers in Bloomington, and that’s where I ended up spending most of my “thrift allowance” money (Okay I just made that up! I don’t have a thrift allowance, but I try and follow the “$20 limit per store” rule that I stole from Sammy Davis. Maybe I should give myself a monthly thrifting allowance? What do you think?)

And here is what I got:

Fabric first!

2012-12-16 21.26.15

The top one is a really bright pink, and unfortunately my iPhone camera doesn’t do this fabric justice. The only thing I was really bummed about was the price. I paid $8.99 plus tax for 7.5 yards. Now the original tag was still attached to the fabric, and it read $7.50! What’s up with that Goodwill??? The middle and the bottom fabrics are meant for a dress I am planning on sewing sometime in the future! Hopefully soon!

I also got this awesome vintage pattern, and the great thing about it is – ONE SIZE FITS ALL! So come to me with your fabrics and we can make you a dress like this. I am planning on altering the sleeves, though!

2012-12-16 21.28.38

And finally the dresses! All vintage, all from Savers, $3.99 each! I love each and every single one of them!

2012-12-16 21.27.03

2012-12-16 21.28.10

Of course two out of the three dresses came with shoulder pads, but I took them out faster than a blink of an eye! Now only to figure out what to do with them! They are so pretty, I can’t just throw them away!

2012-12-16 21.32.51

So? What do you think? Did I do well? Not so well! It all came to under $30! Don’t forget to check Megan’s blog and see what she got!

Have a great week!

Old Navy Haul (Super Cash in Action)

You all know how I feel about certain brands, and that I will never wear Aeropostale or Hollister or whatever else junior high girls wear these days. I am 25 for Christ’s sake!

Surprisingly I’ve been able to find certain items at Old Navy that I like. Remember my post about Easter? That skirt came from ON, as well as some of my new T-shirts for the summer, which I don’t think I’ve shown to anyone, but I’ve been wearing them to work, and in all honesty, I’ll be extremely happy if they last me through the summer. Those t-shirts and all of my dresses, heh!

Anyways, today’s haul was in a way “sponsored” by my previous shopping trip to ON, when I was given $20 in super cash. If you don’t know how Super Cash works, it’s basically a 50% off coupon, that includes clearance and sale items and everything in between. And my super cash was going to expire on 4/17!

And it was cold today, and I wasn’t sure whether I should go, well you know, the usual blah blah blah

I ended up coming home with 2 bags full and all I spent was $25!

So here is what I got:

$4.17

$1.94

$1.94

$1.94

$6.12

$3.05

$3.05

$3.07

My receipt and another coupon :) Yes, they are doing everything to lure me back in, and they are succeeding!

I can’t wait to show you how to style and accessorize these items! Especially the sweaters, since I have a special make-over in mind for those! I am sure you’ve noticed how loose everything is! Yes, I am into loose tops this season, skinny jeans and loose tops, what can be better?

Let me know what you think about this haul, and ON as a brand in general!

Cheers my fellow fashionistas and shopaholics ;)
