Floral Fall Trend

Blogging is an interesting and weird thing. We go online, write a post, upload some photos, create a SEO title and put in some keywords. Then we share it on social media. Sometimes we share a lot, sometimes way too much. But then you meet people who share your interests and passions, you make friends, you attend events. And somehow in the end it all makes sense, so we keep doing it.

And while you are contemplating your existence now, I am sharing my favorite part about transitional seasons – fall floral trend, that is until the first snow falls.

Florals and Flare

Gap flare trouser pants – thrifted, Merona grey cardigan – thrifted, Mossimo black booties,
American Rag top – Macy’s, BeingZhenya necklace – ONecklace.com, Watch – Marc by Marc Jacobs,
Lucky Sunnies – TJMaxx

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful outside and I couldn’t NOT spend at least half of my day in the park. It’s very easy when you have my job. I might have caught a little sun on my nose as well!

I sort of fell for the flare trend again, and was specifically shopping for wide bottom jeans last Sunday at Goodwill. I am so glad these cost only $4.50. They are truly magical, like in that Sisterhood series, they make my legs look so skinny, I love the visual illusion and silhouette they create. And I’ve never gotten so many compliments on my pants before.

Too 70’s? What do you think about flare?

Spring Casual {Thrift Style Thursday}

Casual-Spring-Look-Thrift-Style

Express jeans – thrifted, Converse – TJ Maxx, Pink Clutch – Clothes Mentor Minnetonka, Black top – thrifted, White sweater – thrifted, Floral scarf – thrifted, Black leather jacket – TJ Maxx

Thrift style is affordable, fun and unique. Today’s thrift style thursday is all about a casual, laid back look. And this is what you might spot me wearing on a warm (40F) spring day here in Minneapolis.

Even though spring is still far away from becoming a reality, the snow is melting, and so is my snow phobia. I am not kidding you guys, I thought I was being suffocated by snow banks. Backing out of the driveway was the most dangerous venture I’ve been on since college. And snow dams were nothing out of the ordinary. Plus I am still expecting mother nature (aka winter) to strike back!

Layering-for-spring-thrift-style

But I can literally smell spring coming, everything is melting, and my wardrobe is waiting in anticipation for the warmth. I love styling for spring, as much as I love styling for fall, even a little bit more. Spring to me means summer is just around the corner, and that’s sailing, beaches, friends, and fun.

Styling for spring can be a bit of a challenge though, and I do recommend sticking to layers, especially during those cold weeks of march/april. Here I have a black silk top, under a white silk sweater. My black leather jacket is another perfect spring accessory I am stealing from my fall wardrobe. I added the floral scarf for fun, and trends. Florals are always in.

The jeans, even though they look like boyfriends, are actually skinny, with some natural wear and tear. I rolled them up, because there is nothing wrong with showing off a bit of skin.

Finally bright bold accessories, like this neon pink clutch, and pink Converse are my must haves!

I have been collaborating with Romwe a lot lately, and I am sure you’ve noticed! I don’t think I would’ve picked this website if I didn’t like their designs and clothes! I have a few packages on the way and I can’t wait for them to get here, so I can show you what I got! But if you have never been on their website, theses images should give you a pretty good idea! DIY Friday: Florals, Florals Everywhere (two refashions in one!)

Today’s refashion is going to be quick and easy and as summery as it can get! A couple weeks ago I thrifted these Guess capris:

2013-05-18 13.00.08

2013-05-18 12.59.14

What an awkward length!

2013-05-18 13.01.00

But what an amazing floral print! Besides I’ve always loved Guess 😉

2013-05-18 13.05.16

The first refashion that I am going to suggest is a no-sew refashion. All you need to do is simply roll up the pant legs like this:

2013-05-18 13.04.53

But I already had a pair of summer shorts like this, so I decided to chop the excess off and hem each pant leg!

2013-05-18 13.02.05

2013-05-18 13.25.53-2

And the new shorts were done:

2013-05-18 13.07.42

2013-05-18 13.07.33

My question is – HOW SHOULD I STYLE THESE?

Please comment below 🙂

Happy Friday,

Maxi skirt transformation!

I have been looking for a perfect maxi skirt since the beginning of the summer! Needless to say they are in style right now, but I wanted it for a different reason too. You know how you can hike it up and wear as a dress? That is exactly what I was going to do! I finally found the skirt that I liked, and I knew it’s color would go well with pieces that I’ve already had in my closet, including the accessories. Here is the skirt:

And the close up on the pattern:

The maxi skirt as a skirt:

With some accessories:

And a belt

Now the same skirt as a dress:

I added this BCBG jacket for a more work-appropriate look!

This skirt/dress also looks great with this turquoise necklace

Tomorrow I will show you another necklace that looks great with this dress. It is going to be a “refurbished” necklace, that belonged to my Grandma. But I am not going to give it away just yet!

Happy Saturday everyone! What are you going to treat yourself to this weekend?
