Athletic Aesthetics + Workout Tips {Thrift Style Thursday}

Today’s Thrift Style Thursday post is all about athletic, and for me it means being in shape, and working out. That’s why I am sharing a post I wrote a couple months ago for Goodwill blog, here in Minnesota. You can check out the original here! Also my hair is still long in the pics, and guess what? Can you really find workout clothes and gear at a thrift store? Can it really work? Will you be able to hit up your local gym in that attire? Find out what I thrifted, as well as a few tips and tricks for at home workouts! Having been a thrifter for over 10 years, I never even thought of thrifting for workout gear. Yes, there was an occasional sweatshirt that I would buy, but those were mainly for my DIY projects.

I am one of those people who works out at home, with an occasional run or some basketball in the driveway or park. But with a foot and a half of snow on the ground – at home it is.

During one of my latest thrift trips I went specifically looking for workout gear. Prepare to be amazed at what I found! Because I sure was. The new St Louis Park Goodwill is right next to a gym, so it was only natural for the cashier to ask me, if I was going to the gym next door after thrift shopping.

Here are a few tips for working out at home: 

Find the right spot

Some rooms are too warm, and the extra heat can make you sick. Usually the basement works out the best. Another helpful tip is to have a fully carpeted room;  that way you won’t slip. This helps you avoid possible injuries.

Choose your workout

There are so many out there available, so how can you pick the right one? Think about how much time you have? Do you have 5 min, 10, 15, 30? Do you like yoga, pilates, cardio, high intensity interval? It’s recommended that you switch up your workout routine on a regular basis, I usually do cardio and high intensity intervals, with separate workouts targeting different body zones in between.

Take it outside

When the temperatures get warmer, take advantage of the many trails and parks we have in the Twin Cities. The chain of lakes is one of my favorite places to be. Seeing other runners and bikers definitely pushes me even more.

Buy thrifted

Shorts, tops, and other workout clothes can be pricey, but you can score some amazing tops and bottoms for under $10! And let’s be honest, we are all going to be sweating!

Have fun

Smile if you are working out at home; smiling releases tension. Think of it as a game. Don’t worry about what you look like. Enjoy your results. Celebrate. Don’t torture yourself, because in the end, it’s your body and your health!

I scored an amazing jacket at Old Navy yesterday for 98 cents! And got my 10 year green card in the mail. Overall, it was a good day! Now to find those overalls!

Proskin 28 Day Blogger Challenge: Week 1

A couple weeks ago I came across a #BloggerChallenge on Twitter, and not knowing what it was, decided to look into it! And it turned out that it was, well a blogger challenge, organized by Proskin! I have heard of that brand before, but didn’t know exactly what they were about. After looking into it, I found out that Proskin is a brand that makes leggings that are supposed to tighten your skin and help you loose inches off your thighs!

So I decided to give it a shot. I was always curious to see if such things worked (especially after reading all the claims on their website!). I applied for the program, filled out my social media info and got approved almost instantly!

The leggings shipped extremely fast and got here (US) from England in about a week, and of course I immediately put them on! They are not just nice looking, but nice feeling leggings too! They are incredibly easy to style and I know I’ll be wearing them a lot more in the fall with all my dresses and skirts:

How Proskins Slim Works

What the Microcapsules contain:

So why not try it, and see if they work! I will be posting measurements once a week for the next four weeks to help track my progress (or maybe a lack of it). But keep in mind, I work out, and try eat somewhat healthy on most occasions ;)!

A representative of Proskin also told me that to reach better results it’s important to wear your pair of leggings for at least 8 hours a week. Which I am going to admit will be hard, but possible! So here we go!

По-русски: Мне всегда было интересно проверить работают ли там всякие чудо штаны, ремни, пояса и так далее! Поэтому когда я увидела в Твиттере один интересный хештэг, я решила попробовать легинсы Proskin на себе! Это британская фирма, которая не так известна в США. Ну и пиарятся они засчет блогеров, это понятно! 

Чудо-штаны мне прислали на прошлой неделе, и я конечно же сразу в них влезла! Они очень удобные, черные, надписей, кроме как названия бренда на поясе нигде больше нет. Смотрятся с платьем очень даже ничего. Так что носить можно. Конечно же в наше жаркое лето их особенно не поносишь, а носить, как сказал мне представитель компании нужно как минимум 8 часов в день. Что в моем случае проблематично, но возможно. Сложнее всего я думаю будет на выходных.

Хочется конечно отметить, что кроме этих чудо штанов, я также занимаюсь спортом и пытаюсь (да, именно пытаюсь) правильно питаться! 

Ну посмотрим! Заказала я все это конечно больше из любопытства и потому что на халяву. А то что штаны пропитаны чудо микрокапсулами в состав которых входит кофеин, ретинол А, витамин Е, алое вера, керамиды и жирные кислотоы, не может не радовать! 

В общем в путь!
