What is it about a purse that a woman loves? Loves so much that she can never have enough of them? I am one of those women. Call me fashionista, call me hoarder, but when Philip Lim’s collection for Target launched, I was there in line, and went home with 3 purses. Yes, that’s me. My collection keeps growing, in spite of the small closet space. It keeps growing in spite of the fact that I know I don’t need any more bags. It keeps growing…

But there is nothing, I repeat nothing, that compares to the thrill and the joy of a designer, quality, leather thrifted purse. And that’s my brown coach bag right here for you. And that’s why my collection keeps growing! Thrift stores are full of amazing stylish chic purses that will complete your every outfit! Check them out!

My dress is Old Navy, boots are Mexx, bag is Coach, and a hand-knit thrifted sweater, leather gloves from Marshalls.

Make sure to look through other girls’ posts below! And keep spreading thrifted love!

Here is to the 80’s!

We all love different fashion decades, and even though I am a 20’s girl at heart, 80’s fashion appeals to me and has somehow found it’s way into my closet!

OOTD: I Can’t get enough of you… coat

2012-12-01 16.04.05

It’s been less than a day since I finished refashioning my vintage coat, and I already had to wear it! I kept finding excuses to leave the house, and go for a walk, or to the local thrift store (which Sam and I went to and I can’t can’t wait to show you my finds, one of which has already been transformed into something AMAZING!)

I also couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to wear my $1.50 vintage Christian Dior skirt!

My boots are Mexx (bought them ages ago in Russia! I wonder whether that brand still exists?!)

The scarf was thrifted as well, cost me only $3, and came from a small store I used to basically “live in” when I was an Au Pair on the UWS in Manhattan!

And the bag is COACH, thrifted, of course!

It’s going to be an awesome week on my blog, with a sewing project, thrift haul and some refashions coming up!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

I know I did!

PS. I am wearing this coat to work tomorrow 🙂

Weekend Outfits

I hope you all had a wonderful eventful weekend. It was my Birthday weekend for those of you who don’t know. I turned 26 on July 15. I am very upfront about my age, we’ll see how many years it’s going to take before I turn 29 for the 10th year in a row 😉

Anyways, my amazing husband gave me an iPad, so that’s been a new centre of attention in the Hutson household. I also got a gift card to Clothes Mentor, which I can’t wait to go and spend! Anyways, you get the idea.

Saturday we went to a friends wedding and I wore Maria Bianca Nero dress. The dress actually was a hand me down, from a dear friend of mine. I am very upfront about my hand me downs too 🙂 Some of you also know that I’ve been working out like crazy this past week. Well, I just wanted to make sure I fit into the dress. And I did:

Here is a picture of Sam and me and the happy couple:

Today was kind of a chill stay at home day, but we did go for a walk to the Lake of the Isles, and I finally got to wear my $20 Eileen Fisher dress, a Clothes Mentor find btw:

The lining of this dress is silk, so it’s nice and cool, even in 90 degree weather. The belt came from a swap  in NYC (back in the good old days when I lived there – sigh), the bag isCoach from Goodwill, and the shoes are from Target.

I can’t wait to share some of the other things I got for my Birthday with you, and since it’s kind of a Birthday week this week, I’ll be giving something away on my blog, so subscribe if you don’t want to miss out!

Outfit of the Day – March 16

Dress – Mossimo Target

Shoes – Steve Madden

Bag – Coach

Watch – Marc Jacobs

Make up – greens and goldens – I was practicing for St. Patrick’s Day 😉

Thrifting for Treasure: It’s been too long!

It’s been over 2 weeks since I posted my last Thrifting for Treasure. I didn’t want to do one last week, because I only bought two things, but this week’s haul, along with things that I’ve gotten off of freecycle and the items I thrifted a week before, should, all together, make a great post. Plus I was really inspired by Daniel Troppy and his almost daily YouTube haul videos.

The two items I bought last week were a salmon colored Talbots skirt and a cotton Gap black dress. When it comes to skirts, I have noticed myself leaning more and more towards anything high waisted and pocketed. And I know that I have blogged about it a lot over the past few weeks, so I am not going to bore you, but put the pictures up instead!

This week’s thrifting experience was a lot a lot more productive. I went to the Salvation Army in the North Loop district and here is what I got:

A vintage Coach purse, this one was meant for my mother-in-law, but I am not sure if she wants it, or if I am ready to give it up yet, but it’s absolutely stunning! If you are going for a Coach purse – go for the leather ones, don’t buy the fabric bags, even though they cost over $300, they still look cheap!

Next I got a Calvin Klein Dress. I immediately fell in love with this dress, the different layers of fabric add fullness and volume to the skirt. Plus I love how stripes go in different directions.

Remember my post on Trench Coats? Inspired by my husband? Well I just happened to find two trenches at the Salvation Army, and one of them is reversible – so that’s like 3 trenches instead of two 😉

The first one is a Jones New York Coat:

Guess which side I will be rocking more often?

The next coat is actually a rain coat by Ralph Lauren. It’s a bright orange color, which will definitely make me stand out in the Minneapolis crowd!

The last two things were a little hard to explain, but since I got those sewing patterns off of Freecycle, I’ve been dying to get my hands on some new fabric. And well – turns out they sell fabric at the thrift store. What a pleasant discovery! If you are not sure if your thrift store sells fabric – check the linens/blankets section – that’s where I found these two amazing fabrics:

Now I am definitely asking for a sewing machine for Christmas.

I hope you all enjoyed these finds, if you’ve gone thrifting this week, make sure to leave a comment with a link to your blog below, I would love to check your finds out.

Have a great weekend,
