Models Own Make up at Ulta

Playing with make up is probably one of my favorite things to do. Unfortunately I don’t get to do it as much as I wish I could. So I decided to turn it around this weekend and finally got to the package from ModelsOwn, which is a UK based brand now available at Ulta.

Price wise ModelsOwn is on par with NYX and other drug store brands. The products come in bright and colorful packaging which makes it even more exciting.

Here is what I got to play with today:

Luxestick Velvet Lipstick in Deep Berry ($8.99) – a great deep color I will definitely be saving for nights out and fall. It’s easy to apply, and lasts a good amount of time, but I definitely recommend using a lip pencil with it!

I-Definer Kohl Pencil Eyeliner in Black Onyx ($7.99) – love this pencil, it’s precise, intense and waterproof. Plus it goes on very smooth, especially when you draw hearts on your hands 😛

Sculpt & Glow Highlighter Powder in Peach Pearl ($11.99) – a summer must have for all of us who’ve been deprived of natural glow by mother nature. Use it on your cheekbones, nose and cupid’s bow for best results. I always put my highlighter on before powder just in case I overdo it, then the powder helps conceal the excess highlighter. What about you? Are you a before or after powder highlighter girl? Confused by the question? Me too! Let’s move on.

Barely There Eyeshadow Palette ($17.99) – a great starter palette if you are just tapping your toe in the world of makeup. It combines dusky pinks, soft nudes and creamy browns for creating a truly natural look. It does come with a few shimmery colors so you can easily take your look from day to night. The palette comes with a dual end brush and being the brush snob that I am, I actually don’t mind this applicator. So kudos to you ModelsOwn! However, I highly recommend using a primer as this product tends to get dusty.

And there you have it! I have successfully played around with some make up and hopefully wrote a decent review for you to enjoy! I believe there is a special promo going on around this line at Ulta at the moment. But I do want to let you know that this product was sent to me for review and this is my honest opinion. Have a gorgeous day everyone!

Pearls and Khaki + Monday Mode Link Up

Pearls and Khaki Pearls and Khaki Pearls and Khaki Pearls and Khaki Pearls and Khaki

I am going to be honest here and admit that this weekend was probably one of the best ones in Milwaukee. The weather was amazing, I worked out, I ran, I did what made me happy. I hope you had a wonderful 2 days as well!

I wanted to share a little update – I will be adding a new link up – beauty related this time, highlighting my favorite beauty products of the week. Outfits are fun and all, but I want to provide quality beauty, skincare and health content at least once a week. So mark your calendars, because Sunday Beauty Brunch is coming back this time to stay!

The jacket I am wearing in the photos is one of the most recent Zara purchases. The combinations of pearls and khaki spoke to me like no other. You will be seeing it on repeat a lot this summer and next fall!

Make sure to check out my picks below that can help you recreate this outfit and don’t forget to join our link up 🙂

As always all photos by Kaitlyn Luckow and make sure to check out Say Hello Story a new project she started with Alex Kanastab.

Right before my first class starts this semester, I am thinking about this quote, about the words of Maryl Streep that have been floating around the internet for the past few hours. I am sure you have already seen them.

“I no longer have patience for certain things, not because I’ve become arrogant, but simply because I reached a point in my life where I do not want to waste more time with what displeases me or hurts me. I have no patience for cynicism, excessive criticism and demands of any nature. I lost the will to please those who do not like me, to love those who do not love me and to smile at those who do not want to smile at me. I no longer spend a single minute on those who lie or want to manipulate. I decided not to coexist anymore with pretense, hypocrisy, dishonesty and cheap praise. I do not tolerate selective erudition nor academic arrogance. I do not adjust either to popular gossiping. I hate conflict and comparisons. I believe in a world of opposites and that’s why I avoid people with rigid and inflexible personalities. In friendship I dislike the lack of loyalty and betrayal. I do not get along with those who do not know how to give a compliment or a word of encouragement. Exaggerations bore me and I have difficulty accepting those who do not like animals. And on top of everything I have no patience for anyone who does not deserve my patience.” – Meryl Streep

And when there are of course many life applications to those, think of her words from a blogger perspective.

How many times do we leave a comment on someones post in hopes that they will in return go to our blog?

How many times have we asked for #followforfollow or joined a link up party?

How many relationships have we built, but how many have we destroyed?

Are our priorities as bloggers straight, or are we willing to sell our soul for a free dress or shirt, or a pair of shoes?

Have we been focusing on the real world or the one online, and how honest have we been with each other and with ourselves?

Happy September!

Two Awards One Post

The Friday post is going to be all about giving back, or as we call it in the Blogger world – featuring. And I am going to do this through an amazing tool, called blog awards. I have received two over the past 3 weeks, and since I never found time to blog about the first award, by the time I got the second one, it was so overdue, well you get it…

Anyways the two awards that my blog got were the:

1. Sunshine Award

2. One Lovely Blog

How exciting is that? I really appreciate all of my blogger friends, and would love for you to go check out their blogs as well.

I was nominated for the first award by Konstantina, and this award comes with this super cute picture of a flower –

And the rules are the following:

° Include the Award’s logo in a post on your blog

° Answer 10 questions about yourself

° Nominate 10 other bloggers

° Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blogs letting them know they have been nominated

° Share the love and link the person who nominated you

1. My favorite color: Black

2. My favorite animal : Bunnies and Dogs

3. My favorite number : 8

4. My favorite drink : Wine, Frozen Margaritas, or tea

5. Facebook or twitter : both

6. My passion: DIY, thrifting, especially when it involves going to the Goodwill outlet!

7. Prefer giving or getting presents: Giving!

8. My favorite pattern: Houndstooth! Yes, I am obsessed!

9. My favorite day of the week: Saturday

10. My favorite flower : tulips, lavender, roses

And now on to the nominees, aka the blogs I love to read:

And now on to the One Lovely blog award, which was passed on to me by Kristin from Thank you so much Kristin, I really appreciate it!

The rules are as follows:

-Thank the person/people who nominated you and link back to them in your post.

-Share seven possibly unknown things about yourself.

-Nominate fifteen or so bloggers you admire.

-Contact the chosen bloggers to let them know and link back to them.

So the seven things about me that you probably don’t know (yeah that’s a hard one)

1. My Russian accent kicks in on certain words, like vodka, cookies, and some others, we constantly make fun of the way I say those words at work!

2. I love free stuff, and sometimes hoard fabrics, cosmetics, make up, etc. I’ll let you know if and when it’s going to get dangerous.

3. I think one of the best gifts you can give another person is a book, or gold!

4. I still have nightmares about Russia, going back, someone taking away my passport, and me not being able to come back to the States.

5. I secretly think Target is evil, but I shop there anyways.

6. I really don’t care that much for AC.

7. I love to watch my husband play video games!

I honestly hope these facts were good enough 🙂 Now on to the nominees in this category:

2. Bargain Beauty

5. The Whimsy Papers

9. Cardis Parties and Bacardis

12. M&J Blog

Whew, now I can check this post off my list! To give you an idea of what’s coming up on my blog next week, here is an approximate list of posts, which are of course subject to change 😉

– outfit that i wore to my friends wedding and recap of the wedding itself,

– outfit with the cardigan I upcycled with lace applique last week

– DIY color block bag – part 2 – yes, I am planning on finishing that!

– a vintage skirt refashion

These are just a few, I can’t wait for next week, have a fabulous weekend everyone!

A Case of Makeup Plagiarism: Hey Revlon, create new product much?

I wasn’t originally going to even write anything, because these images are pretty self explanatory, but this case of plagiarism just wants to make me laugh, or cry, I don’t know! The funny thing is – I found the Revlon picture on some blog last night, and left a comment that Revlon has completely ripped off the chubby stick, I literally had to look twice! And I work at Clinique! So I left a comment on that blog and the author didn’t even post it, you know those blogs when your comment is awaiting moderation and then it never appears? (oh wait I do that on my blog too! But that’s so none of you would be offered sex toys from Germany or Russian brides). I just wish people would’ve been more honest and open to criticism, besides, I wasn’t saying anything against her, just the company! I also hope that you understand that even though I work at Clinique, I still use other brands, including drug store ones, but hey Revlon is going off my list, with it’s crappy nail polishes and awful PhotoReady!

Have a fabulous day everyone, I know I will!

PS. The pictures were taken off of Revlon’s FB page and Musings of a Muse, who also provides a great review and compares Revlon to Clinique and Tarte!

Everyday Fashion From Around the World: Alya from Ukraine

Hey everyone, and I hope you are as excited to read this post as I am to write it! I love adding on to the Everyday Fashion From Around the World segment on my blog, and today’s blogger is Alya, she calls herself a beautyholic 🙂

One fine day she discovered herself in the world of beauty on YouTube, and just couldn’t give it up.

She now has her own channel, where she posts videos about make-up, hair, outfits, etc.

She’s lived in the city of Dnepropetrovsk in Ukraine her own life. Today she is going to share with us what an ordinary Ukrainian Big City girl would wear on an ordinary day. Dnepropetrovsk girls like to look pretty, but they are not extremely concerned about what they wear. Alya is no different. She likes skinny jeans and loose tops, or skirts and heels. But let the pictures speak for themselves.

Top: Pimke, Jeggins: Zara, Shoes: Bronx,  Purse: “a la” Zara

Dress: Incity, Unknown brand red belt, Shoes: Bershka

Jacket: Stradivarius, Dress: Incity, Unknown Brand shoes

You can find Alya here:

Let me know if you and your outfits want to be featured on my blog, and I will definitely post them here!
Have a fabulous day,

Zara
не мне платье Incity, безымянный красный пояс и туфли Bershka
на мне куртка Stradivarius, платье Incity, и какие-то безымянные лаковые туфли

Всем отличного дня,

Don’t Judge the Post by it’s Title

Oh but we all do that, as well as books, people, magazines, stores, etc… Sometimes people click on the link to my blog, see the title of the post, and later ask me – what was your post about? I find it hilarious 🙂  Sometimes I just make things up, to mess with them. Yes, I am that kind of person, I like messing with people. Won’t you just shiver and shake at the thought of that!

A couple days ago a lady from church added me on FB, the whole friending experience resulted in her sending me a message asking about my blog. She asked me how she can get there (there – meaning my blog). I didn’t quiet understand what she meant (had a total blond moment), I thought she was asking me to blog about her. Well she was just asking for a link. Apparently me posting links to my blog all over my wall isn’t enough! Oh well, that’s not my problem.

So back to the original subject of this post, TITLES! I was checking out “Freshly Pressed” section, and came across a post about yard/garage sales. I got super psyched about it, since it’s right up my alley. Well, the guy was blogging about how he finds toys at garage sales, especially the ninja turtle ones. You can check it out here if you want

Another post I was disappointed by was a DIY project – the bullet necklace. The idea is amazing, but the way it was carried out – meh! I really wish the author figured out a way how to spread out the shells, and have them individually laid out. She could’ve used some foam sheet, like this blogger

Well, here is the link to the Bullet necklace anyways:

There are a lot of post where the title basically gives it away, which is fine by me! I do like a little mystery though! The secrecy, the planning, the idea! I hope you all enjoy today’s post, stay tuned for an upcoming post on my wedding dress shopping!

PS. On my wish list right now:

Blog :)

My poor blog has been suffering from me being gone. And even though I am working long hours this week, and I am still blogging my views have gone down, which makes me extremely sad, but oh well. I promise I will return next week with all the beauty and DIY posts, but for today, here is this. All of us out there blogging our hearts out!

Tomorrow if I have time in the AM I will blog about one of the orphan graduates, who is now serving in the military, and who I was able to talk on the phone today!
