Velvet 90’s

How are you? I am still stuck in the 90’s. Not sure why, maybe because of all the velvet that reminds me of that decade. This Ragstock dress is no exception, I might even wear it on Valentine’s Day, because why not?

Let’s talk a little about Valentine’s Day, shall we? Here are a few thoughts that I would like to share and tell you how mine is going to pan out a week from Sunday.

  1. It’s a Sunday, so I will get to sleep in, snuggle up with everyone, and by everyone I mean Sam and Mason (our dog).
  2. Drink unbelievable amounts of coffee. On my way home from my late night class yesterday I caught myself thinking that “Wouldn’t it be nice to come home, drink coffee and do homework?”. Yes, my friends think I am weird.
  3. Valentine’s day is always our half-versary (is this even a word?), since we got married on August 14. This is how I actually remember when we got married, because we’ve forgotten our anniversary on a number of occasions.
  4. Sometime around 1 pm Sam and I are going to go get me a cake. I don’t like the sweet thick icing cakes, so we are going to go to Lund’s & Biyearly’s and I am going to pick out something completely ridiculous. Last year it was a Butterfinger cake. And the year before it was a chocolate cake with (I swear) 2 lbs of raspberries on top! Man I love my cake. We are going to spend the next 2 weeks trying to consume the cake. It will probably dry up and I will have to throw away at least a quarter.
  5. Then I am going to realize I have homework to do, and will spend the rest of my day working on some group project that involves creating a unique idea and implementing it without spending any amount of money.

And this is how we do Valentine’s day Hutson style! Happy Thursday friends!

PS. Romance is not dead, maybe…

Luminess Air Airbrush Cosmetics Review

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Luminess Air and Hawkemedia. All opinions are my own.

I have recently completely changed up my makeup routine. I switched from the BB cream I’ve been using to Luminess Air Airbrush Cosmetics. It’s been amazing, and it’s pretty safe to say I am never going back to regular makeup again.

I never thought airbrushing to be that of a big deal like other bloggers made it seem. It’s pricey, seemed like it would take too much time, and I was fine with the products I currently had. And then I tried it. Airbrushing is the bomb, I tell you! It helps create an even skin tone, makes me look younger, and keep my skin matte longer.

My favorite part is the application. I am a firm believer that you should avoid touching your face as much as possible, and this is the perfect tool for me. And I actually like the feeling of air blowing on my skin, though I was terrified I was going to airbrush myself in the eye by accident.

You simply start by matching your color on luminessair.com by uploading a photo, or going directly into purchasing the kit and selecting a color from there.

Since my skin tends to get oily, I went with the Matte foundation, and a medium color. When I received my Aqua and White Luminess Air kit it actually came with two different shades, which is perfect, because my skin tone will definitely change once the summer is over.

The airbrush system is extremely easy to use at home. I simply watched a video on how to correctly use the stylus and went from there. (The video part is REALLY important, don’t skip out on that!)

I had a photoshoot with my friend Ania of Alacloth Vintage last week, and she definitely noticed the difference in my skin. bbb1

As you can see from the photos it’s perfect for covering up blemishes and any imperfections that I have. I’m pretty excited I had the opportunity to try out the Airbrush system, because I would’ve never bought it for myself.

Have you ever tried an airbrush system? What did you think?

Style Resolutions 2015 – #ThriftStyleThursday

We all have goals when it comes to personal style. Yesterday 2015 style resolutions even got brought up during #stylechat on Twitter! Today I though I’d share some of mine:

1. Wear more solids. I haven’t really been into patterns, and now every time I shop or thrift I seem to be gravitating towards solids (unless it’s a swimsuit!), I have cleaned out my closet a few times over the past month, and even though I have quiet a few patterns left, I am going to be wearing them with a lot of solids.

2. Wear more vintage. I go through “vintage craze” stages, and if before it was accessories, now it’s definitely clothes (denim, shirts and sweaters in particular). I have a couple velvet dresses that I can’t wait to show you.

3. Wear more handmade. I am trying to make more time to knit, crochet, sew and DIY some pieces for myself, as well as for my Etsy store, hopefully 2015 will be a good year for that, and I will stay organized and on top of stuff!

4. Wear what I already have. Thrifting lets me switch up my wardrobe every week. I could shop at a thrift store every week if I wanted to, but this year I am going to make an effort to wear what I already have, and shop less.

5. Have fun! I want to inspire with my outfits, but I also want to have fun! So if you see me wearing my husband’s graphic T-shirts, don’t be alarmed! I’m just having fun!

Peace and Grunge

Happy Friday and a flash back to the 90’s. With the weather finally warming up and spring being here, I can’t stop but take more and more outfit photos outside. My almost 18 year old photographer is amazing, and I love her so much for dealing with me almost every day! Thank you Elvira, you are a star!

Being busy is hard. Being busy and blogging almost every day of the week is hard. Being Zhenya is hard. But in spite of all that, it’s still fun and amazing. And I count my blessings every day when I get to share my post with you, because I get to share my life, my passions and my dreams with you.

Grunge is something I WASN’T in high school. But it was amazing to try on, and I’ll be honest, I loved it!

90’s style love it or hate it? Do tell!

And even though I am a day late for #ThriftStyleThursday, I know these girls have some great ideas and inspirations for you:
