Fall isn’t a time to renew your wardrobe, but also pick up a few new beauty products. I was really excited to learn about some of the new brands that Shopko started to carry, including La Petit Marseiliais and Masque Bar. I knew I could use some new masks, so I picked up Luminizing Charcoal and Pore Refining masks to pamper myself a little this fall. The Luminizing Charcoal has definitely become one of my favorites, and I will be ordering more of it. You leave it on for 20-30 minutes, then peel it off. This mask peels off so easily, I was extremely surprised. However, it still pulls out a lot of the gunk from pores! The pore refining mask is a rinse off, which is a type of masks I usually use, and I love it. Both of these are made in Korea.

La Petit Marseiliais is a brand I used to shop when I lived in Europe, and it was one of my favorites. I picked up 2 body washes in Orange Blossom and White Peach and Nectarine.

Last Tuesday was simply wonderful! I finally managed to leave work on time and make it to a Milwaukee Bloggers Meet Up at the Iron Horse hotel arranged by my friend Katherine of Bordeaux Blvd.

I’ve been living in Milwaukee for over a year now and only met a few of the bloggers in person, so this was a perfect opportunity to put faces to Instagram handles and have some real life time with everyone!

I hope you enjoy photos from the event and check out everyone’s blogs!

Pinstripe Dress – Monday Mode Link Up

pinstripe-dress pinstripe-dress pinstripe-dress pinstripe-dress

Happy Monday! As I get ready to start my short 4 day week and prepare for my Miami and Minneapolis vacations – truly two of the most opposite places one could’ve picked – I wanted to share this easy outfit with you. I’ve been obsessing over Who What Wear collection at Target for quiet some time now. To the point where my manager knows that it’s the only line I shop at Target, and that the rest of my clothes primarily come from Zara and H&M.

This dress is definitely getting a place in my suitcase! Make sure to follow me on Instagram to see what else I am packing on my vacation and if you are in Miami or Minneapolis and want to meet up – let me know!

August POPSUGAR Must Have Box

august-popsigar-musthave-boxaugust-popsigar-musthave-boxaugust-popsigar-musthave-box

I have to admit POPSUGAR Must Have Boxes are one of my favorite types of packages. The element of surprise and the assurance that whatever is inside is going to be good definitely keeps me wanting to collaborate 🙂

This August the box is all about celebrations, gratitude, loyalty and friendship. Just like life should be!

So what’s in my box this month?

1. Cheers Tray by Pastel ($28 fringestudio.com)! I have wanted a tray like this for a long time, just to use as home decor, but also to help celebrate special days with friends and family!

2. 5 in 1 Bouncy Mask by First Aid Beauty ($38 firstaidbeauty.com) I have to admit this quickly became one of my favorite masks, and I have a lot of those 🙂 After about 10 minutes my skin looks brighter and firmer. I have actually used it in the mornings before work, especially on days when I have to get up extra early!

3. Heart Bracelet ($34 dogeared.com) is so delicate and small it’s barely noticeable, and I appreciate the POPSUGAR team for sending it to me as a sign of their appreciation. It also reminds me to keep an open heart everywhere I go.

4. Gold Glitter Candles by Meri Meri ($7.50 merimeri.com) I can’t wait to bring these to the office! September is a big Birthday month on our team!

5. Free Spirit Journal ($16 fringestudio.com) About 2 weeks ago I started a 30 Days of Yoga Challenge. I am not following any specific program, I just find time during the day to do anywhere from 10-60 minutes of yoga, and attend yoga classes at the gym several times a week, but I am using this journal to write down any thoughts that are bothering me, or any reflections that I have during my practice! Want to learn more about my 30 day experience? I will have a post up soon!

6. Shoptiques.com giftcard (shoptiques.com) This is such a cool gift and a great idea! This website allows you to shop boutiques from all over the world! I can’t stop!

I have to confess there were also Goodie Girl Cookies, but Sam devoured those in less than 5 minutes!

Love this post? Use the code PARTY (expires 8/31) to get $10 off your FIRST Must Have Box!

Summer Time Spins

Coming back home after a long weekend of the 4th of July festivities, I thought that I really need to stop by my blog and drop a line. I’ve been checking my mild sunburn in the mirror for about 5 minutes now and writing this post gives me a reason to take a break.

I am however distracted by the Bublr bikes outside and the local life that revolves around them. That’s why the post is random, like my current life.

My body can’t seem to get hydrated, and no matter how much water I drink, the bloodies and mimosas will haunt me for a few days over here. Send electrolytes.

Back to work tomorrow, but it’s already Wednesday – > does a happy dance, but more like 15 happy burpees because Miami in September.

Other than constantly online shopping and spending time in Chicago I found time to enjoy a nature walk yesterday. I don’t have the guts to call it a hike, because you hike the mountains in Colorado, and when you are in Wisconsin, you leisurely stroll through the tall grasses on a bluff overlooking lake Michigan. I love it all the same.

Zeva Vibrating Flat Iron – a Must Have for all hair types + Monday Mode Link Up

Have you ever heard of vibrating flat irons? I sure hope so, because they are the newest and the biggest thing out there. The vibration separates the hair shafts from one another and allows them to flow smoothly through the plates of the iron. This reduces damage, frizz, hot spots, cramping and styling time by about 20%.

I got my hands on the Zeva Professional Vibrating Flat Iron about a week and a half ago (thank you Susan) and I can’t stop. Let me give you a little back story. A few weeks ago I vowed to stop using heat styling because my hair has become so damaged from all the bleaching here in Milwaukee. Alas all of the local hair stylists have failed me, so now I get my hair done in Chicago (more on that later!) but even with all the proper care, I was still concerned about heat tools.

Then Zeva came along. I agreed to try it, however I admit I was skeptical at first. How good were these vibrations going to be? Turns out they were amazing. I was able to quickly style my hair at 230 degrees!

Bonus – dual voltage, so when we travel to Europe next year, I know which styling tool I will be packing!

Have you ever tried a vibrating flat iron? What are your thoughts?

If I were to tell you about a weekend in life, it would be this one! I spent it in Madison celebrating the opening of AC Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin. I’ve been living in Wisconsin for a little over 9 months now and was incredibly honored to be one of the 5 bloggers invited to this event.

The new hotel is located in downtown Madison on Webster St only a block away from the Capitol. I didn’t know what kind of treat I was in when I first arrived. And for those of you wondering, of course Sam came with me 🙂

We quickly checked in to our room on the 8th floor. Our windows faced Lake Mendota and the view was amazing. I also had a surprise waiting for me in the room – local wine from Wollershein Winery, and cookies from Baking for Good Bakery.

That night all of us met for dinner at Eno Vino on the 10th floor of the hotel. I was so excited to meet all the other bloggers at the event and enjoy the amazing food and drinks that night.

Friday morning we all gathered downstairs for the official opening ceremony and wine smashing. It was amazing to hear Arne Sorenson, the CEO of Marriott International speak and tell the history of the hotel. AC Hotel started as a Spanish brand founded in 1998 by Antonio Catalan. In 2011 AC Hotels formed a joint venture with Marriott. There are now 100 hotels under the AC brand!

The next speaker was Nigel Barker, yes the Nigel Barker world-famous fashion photographer who was a judge on 17 seasons of America’s Next Top Model. Turns out he is the brand ambassador for the hotels. I couldn’t have asked for a better occasion to meet him.

After all the morning festivities Sam and I spent the afternoon exploring Madison, and I will definitely write a separate post about that, so stay tuned.

Friday night I got to attend one of the best parties of the year Curating the New Madison. There were drinks, food, entertainment, art, music and a lot of good conversations. I wish you could all be there and experienced it. I would highly recommend going out to AC Hotel for a drink! You must try their gin and tonic! It’s delicious!

Here is to European flavor now located in the heart of the Midwest <3 I want to say a big and very special THANK YOU to everyone who made this weekend possible: Ideas that Evoke, especially Marissa and Sam, Sarah, Marriott, all of the staff at AC Hotel Madison, Nigel Barker, the amazing bartender who makes the best gin and tonic and so many more people! Thank you thank you thank you!

New Greek Yogurt Collection from HASK

HASK-greek-yogurt-series

HASK-greek-yogurt-series

Hi beauty babes! Oh do I have a lot of beauty updates for you! This month has been filled with trying new products. I am not going to lie, coming home to packages almost every day is nice, but sometimes I don’t have the time to use it all! So I’ve been pacing myself and trying everything slowly to make sure I can write the best review possible.

There will be a few hair care products this week, so hopefully you can find something new to try for yourselves.

I am going to kick off this weeks beauty post series with a review of HASK Greek Yogurt Collection. I know I know it’s not always a good idea to put food in your hair, but when the brand did it for you already, why not?

HASK has recently come out with a Greek Yogurt series which includes:

  • Repairing collection: Blueberry and Acai
  • Color protection collection: Pomegranate and Cranberry
  • Hydrating collection: Fig and Honey

I have to admit picking just one was difficult because I could use all of these lines for my hair. It’s color treated, dry on the ends and fragile. My hair has more issues than Vogue I am telling you. But I finally decided to commit to trying the Repairing collection.

The cool thing is for this series HASK bottled up rich Greek yogurt and infused it with essential fruit extracts to create a formula that instantly feeds your hair with moisture and makes you hungry when you are in the shower. Good thing I like food 😉

The packaging is also kind of cool for a drugstore product as such. Each product in the collection features a dual chamber delivery system – the inner formula is Greek yogurt, which is packed with protein, calcium, minerals, potassium and vitamins. The outer formula contains essential fruit ingredients to give your hair the benefits it craves! Once squeezed, the inner Greek yogurt formula and outer fruit extract blend together to provide a perfect mixture of ingredients that leave you with soft cared for hair.

Aside from the shampoo and conditioner I also got to try a deep conditioner and that must have been my favorite of them all. I just love the effects of Greek yogurt mixed with Blueberry & Acai. I feel like my hair has been incredibly damaged by the last couple of visits to the salon, so I need all the restorative products I can get.

Have you tried HASK products? What do you think? Do you have any favorite products or remedies for strengthening your hair?
