Outfit: Black and white x 2! Stripes are always a good idea no matter what season or place. I wore this oversized top with faux leather pleated skirtĀ and platform sandals. Accidental twinning with Kaitlyn made this look even more memorable šŸ˜‰

Life: Getting used to Milwaukee more and more each day, discovering new places and parks. Absolutely loved Atwater beach, where these photos were taken. Sam and I stopped by the Milwaukee Art Museum today to see American Epics exhibit, wandered through the gift shop, took the long way home along the lake front.

Last week I tried Zumba for the first time, gym is definitely becoming one of my favorite places to go to. Are you as surprised as I am? I have also ordered my very first juice cleanse (Jus by Julie) over the weekend. I won’t start it till August 30, and it’s only a 3 day one, but I will definitely share my experience with you once it’s over.

Outfit: Bright redĀ lipstick, neon belt and my new favorite blue shoes are the key pieces in this simple outfit. The shirt dress is another proof that black and white areĀ my go to colors and I won’t beĀ gravitating away from them anytime soon.

Life: I am officially a Milwaukeean, all moved into a new apartment, finally unpacked and feeling at home. A part of me still can’t believe that I am finally here, a university graduate, working my first corporate job. I’ve been waiting for this moment since November, but it all seems so surreal to me still.

Miscellaneous: Sam and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary yesterday.

I’ve been insanely obsessed with the gym.

Frustrated by the lack of Targets in the area.

Mesmerized by the beauty of lake Michigan.

PS. Thank you Megan for the photos!

Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara

As someone who’s always had very fair eyelashes and eyebrows (practically blonde), I can’t leave my house without mascara. It is my number one must-have and go-to product if I am running late. It was always bizarre to me how a small product like that could make all the difference.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been using the new Rimmel Volume Colourist MascaraĀ that is meant to gradually tint eyelashes over time (at minimum, 2 weeks of daily use). Today I wanted to share a simple tutorial using a couple other Rimmel London products to show you how I go from a day-to-night look with mascara!

I am going to stick to 3 products for this eye look:Ā Rimmel Volume Colorist Mascara, Coulour Precise Eyeliner, and Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Opener (all available at Target).

Step 1: Start by preparing your face. I usually use a CC cream and some powder for a matte effect. I also always make sure to define my eyebrows, they are a frame of your face!

Rimmel Volume Colorist Mascara

Step 2: Apply Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in the inner corners of your eye and along the bottom lash line if desired. Blend it out.

Step 3: Apply Colour Precise Eyeliner. I really liked this product, even though I’ve never tried or really heard of it before. It has a very fine tip, making application a lot easier. It also lasts a very long amount of time. I wore it in the pool yesterday and it never got smudged (but of course I wasn’t doing any diving, just some light swimming).

Rimmel Volume Colorist Mascara

Here are some tips when it comes to eyeliner application, especially if you don’t want it to smudge or go in your crease:

  • Prep your eyelid with some eyeshadow primer
  • Brush eyeshadow or powder over it, I use powder, it makes the look more natural, yet more dramatic
  • Apply the liner by starting out in your inner corner, then outer, and meeting in the middle.
  • Try not to blink until it is dry šŸ˜‰

Step 4: Time for mascara! On a day-to day basis I only apply mascara to my top lashes, but adding it to my bottom ones always makes my eyes look so dramatic!

Rimmel Volume Colorist Mascara

Like mentioned aboveĀ Rimmel Volume Colorist Mascara not only tints lashes over time, but also provides instant volume.

Tips on using the mascara:

  • To see the most intense tinting effect make sure to use this product daily
  • Visible results after 2-4 weeks
  • This product contains a lasting lash-tint complex with natural colorant that gradually darkens your lash color, plusĀ a unique combo of creamy, ultra-black lash volumizing formula.

Monday Motivation

Monday motivation Monday motivation Monday motivation Monday motivation

With our kind of happening at the momentĀ move, my new job, trying to figure out our way around a new city and everything else in between, I decided it would be wise to create some sort of a blog schedule to stick to. My Monday motivation is to figure what thatĀ schedule will be. I am leaning towards a two posts a week schedule, that will allow me to write one style and one beauty related post. I think this will be the easiest thing to do, since I can shoot an outfit over the weekend, as well as focus on a beauty product review or creating my monthly favorites round up. What do you guys think? I don’t want to aim for the moon at this point. I am preparing myself for an exciting, yet challenging stage in my life, and want to take things slow. If any of you have tips on how to do that, they would be greatly appreciated. I don’t want to give up on blogging, as I am enjoying it immensely. However, I don’t want it to take over my free time.

Sam and I went to Milwaukee for a hot second over theĀ weekend. It was a really short trip, we left MinneapolisĀ on Saturday around 8.30 am, and came back on Sunday around 6 pm. All we wanted to do is get keys to our new apartment, and move in as much stuff as weĀ fit the night before into his mom’s car (which is a lot bigger than ours). When we were unpacking, some of the boxses’ contents was a total surprise to me. You see, the stuff has been packed since end of May, early June, so I forgot what was in what box. And the onlyĀ labeling I did was writeĀ “Fragile” on some of the boxes.

One of the reasons I am really excited about our new apartment, and why we decided against getting a house, is the opportunity to downsize. I have piles of stuff I’ve been planning on using in my DIY projects, clothes that I will “someday” wear, office supplies, etc. I think I’ve been able to downsize significantly since we sold our house, but I want to organize everything as well. That’s why a couple weeks ago I bought two books on the KonMari method. I will definitely keep you posted on how that goes. So stay tuned.

All of the photos in the post are from my photoshoot for ALACLOTH! I have some rad jeans one too! I will definitely miss my Minneapolis blogger/social media family, so if you are in Milwaukee or know someone there, send them my way! I am a firm believer that blogger friends are the best friends!

It’s never too early to start planning for fall! Last Wednesday was a nice cool day here in Minneapolis (compare it to almost 100 degrees today), so I got to wear my new Steve Madden booties I got through ThredUp.

Booties were such a hit this spring and last fall, that I went ahead and got myself a few pairs, preparing for the season and my new job. Of course I had to get several different pairs all in different colors – black, brown, and olive. You will definitely be seeing them in the upcoming posts.

And now for the link up (yes, I know I am a day late šŸ˜‰ )

Last week I got the most beautiful and fragrant delivery from Brown & Greene Floral right on time for my Birthday. This beautiful bouquet combined my favorite roses and peonies with sweet-smelling mint in a beautiful vase that I will definitely be taking to our new apartment with us.

Brown & Greene Floral Market is the mostĀ adorable little corner storeĀ in Southwest Minneapolis on the corner of 44th Street and Beard Ave South. They produce such gorgeous florals, you will fall in love. I had so much fun integrating my bouquet into the interior of the house. From simply setting it on my night stand to using it as a centerpiece for dinner, to making it the center of the living room, these flowers immediately became a family favorite. I’ve never enjoyed a bouquet of flowers as much as I’ve enjoyed this one before.

This July they are celebrating their 15th anniversary with a number of events {European flea market, floral design class, a vase drive and a huge soiree at the end of the month}.

Summer is finally here and I am so glad to be spending all my free time outside, but with the sunshine, the heat and the humidity comes the question of hair care. While some would say ā€“ why bother? I think itā€™s extremely important to take good care of your hair, especially in the summer months. Besides, if the products you are using leave you feeling like a celebrity, who can say no to that?

You know you are Russian when your hair products are infused with caviar! But I wouldnā€™t have it any other way! Therappe and Humectress line by Nexxus New York Salon Care is a replenishing hair care line with caviar complex! Nothing fishy here, not even the smell! The line includes a line of shampoo, conditioner, lightweight conditioning mist, masque and serum infused with caviar complex to help your hair retain moisture. Itā€™s perfect for normal to dry hair. My hair has been on the drier side, especially since I started getting balayage, so this line is my new go-to. I look forward to washing my hair so much more now, and actually have to remind myself not to do that every day. The products are enriched with concentrated Elastin, Keratin and Wheat Proteins to increase hairā€™s strength and manageability. In addition, new Protein Care Actives penetrate the hair fiber to repair protein structure, making hair stronger from within.

I am absolutely in love with the masque and caviar serum. The masque has a butter like texture that you wonā€™t want to wash out, I use it once or twice a week depending on my hair condition, so if I spent too much time at the beach, or outside, I know my hair will need that extra masque boost.

The serum is the very first serum Nexxus has ever created! How awesome is this? It features concentrated conditioning oil encapsulated in pearls and suspended in a water-based rebuilding serum rich in nutrients and protein. You can use this serum on damp or dry hair. The best part is you can use it as often as you want, no harm in that, only benefits.

Now as important as hair care is, you canā€™t forget about styling. I stick to one simple rule of summer hair style ā€“ make it as easy and effortless, as possible. And Nexxus has a line for that. I was able to test Finishing Mist, Dry Shampoo and Mousse by Nexxus New York Salon Care.

Finishing Mist with fluid-fix complex helps me lock my waves in place if I am using my curling iron, as well as provides a lasting hold with a brushable finish.
Mousse with Keratin Protein offers styling with natural movement and beautiful fluidity, perfect for my on-the-go lifestyle.

And finally, the dry shampoo with pearl extract is truly a godsend. Dry shampoo would be one thing I would take to a deserted island, itā€™s that big of a necessity. I especially like this one, because it offers a quick refresher, without using too much of the product!

Nexxus New York Salon Care has turned my summer hair care routine around, making my hair more manageable, touchable, and fluid!

Kelly Baker Brows

Kelly Baker highlighter brush, highlighter and brow pencil in blonde, Lavish Lashes eyelash and brow extension cleanser and Black Diamond coating sealant

Last Thursday I had the most amazing opportunity to go check out The Brow Studio in South Minneapolis. I had an appointment for lash extensions and brow shaping. And while I’ve had my brows done before, I never had lash extensions, falsies for a night yes, but nothing more.

I got to have my appointment with Brook Schlosser, who is the local lash pro. She is theĀ owner and lead esthetician of The Brow Studio. She’sĀ attendedĀ Kelley Baker’sĀ first master class in LA and one on one trainings.Ā The Brow Studio also carries Kelley Baker products exclusively in Minnesota.

I did some lash extension research before the appointment. My biggest concern was the after care, but I was able to find answers on The Brow Studio’s Facebook page! Which made me realize how few companies post helpful information on their social media these days!

My appointment for lashes was about 2 hours long. I admit I did take a nap during. Brook went over everything with me before she started. The application process, how she picks the lashes for application, what the lashes were made of, literally everything. I had a lot of questions. And when I finally got to open my eyes I was wowed! I’ve never had better, longer lashes like these before.

Now emotions aside, what has it been like? I couldn’t get my lashes wet for the first 24 hours. After that I’ve started using a wash cloth to wash my face, because it’s easier not to get too much product in the eye, and go around the lashes. Brook also sent me home with eyelash extension cleanser, as well as Black Diamond Coating Sealant (which I’ve been using every other day) to help maintain the extensions. Those products are definitely a must-have if you want to extend the life of your extensions. When getting lashes done it’s important to remember that they will fall out as your natural lashes go through their life cycle. That’s why touch ups are always a good idea.

I still can’t get over the fact that I don’t have to use mascara. I look ready for the day when I wake up!

Now for the brows, it was the quickest, most useful brow shaping experience I’ve ever had! After Brook waxed and trimmed my brows, she taught me a couple new helpful tricks, that I wanted to share with you!

  1. Start with highlighter under your brow, draw a line along the bottom of your brow (the full length of your brow, not just under the tip like I used to).
  2. Blend it out with a flat brush.
  3. Follow that same line you’ve just created but with a brow pencil. Then continue to outline Ā the rest of your brow.
  4. Now fill in the outline you’ve just created.
  5. Brush and blend it out.

I can definitely say I’ve been looking more put together after my visit to The Brow Studio, and I love it!

The Brow Studio is located atĀ 616 W 54th Street, Minneapolis, MN. For more info check out their website and Facebook page. And make sure to follow them on Instagram!

Thrift Style Thursday Link-Up // July 7 // Blonde Power

Blonde power Blonde power Blonde power Blonde power Blonde power Blonde power Blonde power

Last week I mentioned my Schoola haul. This week I really wanted to share this Blonde Power shirt by Pam + Gela and how I styled it for Thrift Style Thursday. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve gotten so many compliments on this tee, I want to wear it every day!

Heels and vintage Lee jeans cut offs made sense, and the location was more than perfect. Alacloth took me to Milwaukee street, located right across from the Seward Pizza Luce. If you’ve never been to Milwaukee street, you must go! It’s 2 blocks of pedestrian historic heaven, charm and beauty. You won’t want to leave!

And of course the fact that it’s called Milwaukee street, and I am moving to Milwaukee made complete sense. Sadly, it was probably my last photoshoot with Alacloth for a while, but she’s promised to visit me in Wisconsin. Plus we are already planning on going thrifting there!

I hope you all had a happy and safe 4th of July! I’ve never been so busy over a holiday weekend before. I went to a BBQ, a housewarming, fireworks in Bloomington, and at Steph’s house. Hung out with so many friends, I couldn’t have asked for more! We did have a scare when one of the neighbors lost their dog, but they found her today all safe and sound!

I think it’s time for the link up! Share your outfits below! I can’t wait to check them out!
