Sipping my Tuesday morning coffee, blogging, thinking about all the changes that are about to take over my life.

As ready as I am ever going to be. Don’t get me wrong, I am extremely excited to go to the U, but I am also nervous. It’s going to be first day of school for me, when I thought I was done with school 6 years ago.  Everyone has been so supportive though, and Sam, he is amazing. He has helped out so much, he is so proud of me. But for the first time in many years I am not going to work. My blog and social media will be my only source of income, so if you see a sponsored post here and there, please don’t judge. If you don’t see a post from me for a few days, or maybe a week, please don’t judge. Find me on social media, tell me you miss me, I will always reply.

I have never wanted to be a professional full-time blogger, I always wanted a career.

I keep reminding myself – I am ready, I am ready, I am fine…

Something parisian, yet something so 7th grade for me. Another fall trend to try, and I am so glad I did. See you soon downtown. And thank you Rachel for the pictures!

Do you wear turtlenecks? How do you style them? Here are a few of my favorite ones for fall! Major turtleneck crush over here!

I love Apple. If you know me, you know that I have a strong attachment to my phone, my Mac, and my iPads. There, I said it and it’s out! That’s why when I first posted the Acer tablet preview, it was so hard for me to get into it. It wasn’t even on for over 2 weeks. Given we were road tripping at that time, but still. And then something happened. After almost giving up on it, I decided to give it another shot. I brought it into work, where we use a different tablet on a daily basis (which I hate, and if you want to know what it is, ask me on social media ;) ), knowing that I’ll have time to play with it there. I started by changing the background image from abstract grey squares to an image of Central Park and the Upper West Side where I used to live. Think it helped? Have we met?

Then for a while I stuck to the social media apps, like Instagram and Twitter. The tablet is just as fast as my phone, and I could easily type anything I needed.

Soon I discovered Newssstand, and after adding a few favorite topics here and there (I am going to make you guess which ones), I became a devoted reader and sharer. When I read something I like, it always goes up on my Twitter, and for some reason the way Newsstand is set up, makes it so easy and effortless for me. I also get several free articles per month per certain publication (like New York Times, or Financial Times) without having to subscribe to them.

I am still looking for a good photo editing app, giving audible a try, and wondering about all the ebook apps, like Play books, which unlike Kobo has free books.

5 Easy Steps To Refresh Your Makeup

5StepsToRefreshMakeup

Excited for fall, back to school, and inspired by Hayden Panettiere’s style, locks and looks, I headed to my local Target to purchase some Neutrogena products. I knew I would find something that would help me create my all day look in a few easy steps, and keep it looking fresh no matter what I do.

NeutrogenaTarget

I often attend events or go places after work. So instead of reapplying all makeup, I use these simple tips to refresh it in under 5 minutes.

5StepsToRefreshMakeup HaydenPanettiereNeutrogena

1. Start by applying Shine Control Powder all over your face. This powder blends invisibly, creates a flawless look, and doesn’t clog pores. And you never have to worry about picking out the right shade, because there is only one!

NeutrogenaShineControlPowder

2. Next apply Healthy Skin Blends Blush. It’s oil free, non-comodegenic, and creates an illuminating look. Contouring products are definitely my favorite, and this blush just made it to the top of the list.

NeutrogenaHealthySkinBlends

3. Mascara touch up is a must! I often only wear it on the top lashes during the day, so when the time comes to touch up, I apply some on the bottom lashes, for a more dramatic look. Healthy Volume Mascara conditions, coats quickly thanks to a  super-sized brush, and has been tested by Ophthalmologists.

4. And now for the lips. I wear a nude or a coral color during the day, like MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Fresh Papaya, but always go for something bolder for the night.

5. Hair needs a touch up too. And Triple Repair Fortifying Leave-In Treatment is perfect for that. Simply squeeze a little produce into your palm and work it into the ends. In fact, the entire Triple Repair line is so good, I recommend it, especially if your hair has been color treated, or damaged.

Thanks to Neutrogena, my makeup looks fresh throughout the day, and my makeup bag is a lot smaller!

For the past couple of days I have been in full fall mode, putting together looks for my Instagram, pinning images to my Fall Fashion and Style board on Pinterest, wishing the august humidity would go away.

I can’t wait to wear plaid, see more of it on the Runway at NYFW that’s coming up, and see how you wear it.

Train Ride

2014-08-18 14.55.48

Last Friday we took a train to St Paul. The green line has been up for a couple months now, and that’s the train I’ll be taking to the U every day for the next two years of my life, so I was more than excited to check it out.

Why were we headed to St Paul? To check out Mickey’s Diner. If you’ve seen Mighty Ducks, you know what I’m talking about.

The diner, the food and the downtown St Paul are definitely charming, and small. I fell in like. I am glad you are only a train ride away now, St Paul.

Tech Talk and Style: iPhone 5 Power Jacket

iPhone5PowerJacketGold

Got my iPhone ready for college! I may not be all ready, but it sure is. Ever since I saw my friend’s Kate power case, I knew I wanted one. I have a strong addiction connection with my phone, and I knew I didn’t want to be connected to the outlet at the U all the time. Mobile Fun had the perfect iPhone 5 Power Jacket case for me, gold, with a kickstand, so I can watch YouTube and Netflix without having to prop my phone on a book or purse. The case adds a lot of weight to the phone, which I love. I had a really hard time adjusting to the lightweight of 5, after I had to give up my 4s, so the case helps a lot. Of course it makes the phone a lot thicker for my pocket, and I tend to carry it in my purse more, which also helps me stay off it.

The case lights up when the phone is being charged from it, there is a power button conveniently located in the lower right corner of the case. I normally plug it in at night, and after the phone is charged, the case begins charging automatically. I just love that.

The only downside: I can’t plug the AUX cable in the car anymore, since the case adds so much depth to the jack.

I’ve got the power! How about you?

Floral Embroidery

BlueEmbroideredDress

I have been loving the floral embroidery trend this summer, and couldn’t wait to try it. I was even considering doing my own embroidery on a dress I’ve already owned. But then I thrifted this beauty in Colorado. And I knew we couldn’t part. The beauty of an embroidered dress, you may ask? No need to accessorize. Just throw on your favorite pair of shoes, and a purse.

Denim In Denver

IMG_5209.JPG
Right before we left for Colorado, I stopped by my friend Jameson’s garage sale and picked up a few things (more like half of an entire new wardrobe!). This denim dress included! It was brand new with tags, and I can’t even remember what I paid for it.
IMG_5212-0.JPG
The dress was perfect for our day trip to Denver and Boulder with my friend Marina and her husband.

Ironically enough I don’t have a picture of the back, so I can’t completely show you how awesome it is. You’ll just have to believe me on this one!

We also had a chance to visit Celestial Seasonings tea factory! It was really insightful and for a big tea drinker like me, was super informative. It is a free tour offered in Boulder. So make sure to check it out, but they won’t let you take any pictures, as you may as we’ll be a tourist from Lipton!

Beauty Brunch: Camille Albane Salon in Maple Grove

IMG_5139-0.JPG
My last hair cut wasn’t the bomb. I had a really hard time with it. It looked good when my hair was curled, but when it was straight you could see it wasn’t blended enough and my top layer stuck over my bottom one a good 2 inches. And you know it’s not a good hair cut when you come to work and your co-teacher tells you that it looks weird. I do appreciate the honesty though.

So when an opportunity came up to visit the new Camille Albane Paris Salon in Maple Grove, I knew I couldn’t miss it.

Last Wednesday after a long and tiring day at work, I drove up 169 all the way to Maple Grove to this brand new salon. The calming white interior, Coldplay through the speakers and incredible staff helped me relax and forget about my troubles almost instantly.
IMG_5131.JPG IMG_5133.JPG IMG_5130.JPG
Black capes are non-existent at Camille Albane Paris. You wear a white robe instead, which creates the atmosphere of a spa, and not a salon.

Tammy, the manager, and my stylist for the night was attentive and addressed all my concerns, answered all questions and was so much fun to talk to. She even saved my pink extension I got at Glamorama ;)

In addition to the haircut I also got a balayage. It was a little different for me, because Tammy didn’t wrap my hair in Saran Wrap, like they usually do at Aveda. The formula that they use doesn’t dry out as fast, so that wasn’t necessary.

IMG_5125.JPG
IMG_5135.JPG IMG_5137.JPG
Camille Albane Paris was founded in France, where they have the laboratories and create all of the products. The other salon in the United States is located in Boston.

Camille Albane is a breath of fresh air among the existing salons in the Twin Cities area. It’s new, different, and adds to the edge that we’ve been missing here in the Midwest.

And this Wednesday, August, 13 the salon has it’s official opening. I would love to see you there! So if you are planning on coming make sure to send your RSVP to RSVP@lolaredpr.com. Hope to see you there.
