How much red do you own? How much do you wear? Use? Writing this post I have come to realize that red, apparently, is my favorite color. From the clothes and accessories that I wear, to the makeup that I use, to the color of the tube of my new favorite toothpaste, red is everywhere in my life.

I have to be honest here for a minute, being in college, late nights, doing homework or catching up with my favorite show, sometimes I fall asleep with all my makeup still on. Which also means I don’t brush my teeth at night either. And then I have to lie to my dentist… So I knew that to get myself out of this rut I needed a motivation, some incentive, that I would respond to. And the easiest fix was switching the toothpaste. Colgate® Optic White® Express White Toothpaste provides an easy and fast way for whiter teeth fast. It contains the professionally recommended ingredient hydrogen peroxide to whiten faster.

2015-02-24 21.38.37

I got my tooth paste at Walmart, they have a really nice end cap display with all the products which is very easy to find.

2015-02-25 09.14.30

There is definitely more motivation to brush my teeth at night now ;)

Some additional facts:

  • Colgate® Optic White® Express White Toothpaste has 2 times more of the professionally recommended whitening ingredient (vs. Optic White Sparkling Mint TP).
  • Whiter teeth in just 3 days, just by brushing.
  • There will also be a roaming demo in 550 stores on 2/28/15 to promote the new product. Ambassadors will be roaming aisle giving out $1 off coupons good on Express White Toothpaste. Make sure to check the store list for a location near you).
  • There are 3 sizes available: 3oz & 4.5oz are now available, and the 1.45oz travel size will hit select stores on March 14th.

At Woodbury Lane we believe that great style is defined by pairing simple, quality pieces with a subtle trend.

I know how much work and time and love Katelyn has put into WL, and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Set for Spring with Rachel’s Lookbook and Lyst

About a week ago Lyst offered me an exciting opportunity to create a wish list using their app, but there was a twist! The wish list wasn’t for me, it was for my friend Rachel of Rachel’s Lookbook! Rachel and I have been blogger friends, turned real life friends for a few years now, and Lyst helped us treat each other to a special surprise this Valentine’s Day. I know we wouldn’t have been able to make it this fun without them!

So Rachel and I created wish lists for each other, and I must admit, it was very hard not to peek and see what she had on hers. The only thing we exchanged was our sizes! Fortunately enough when your friend is a fashion blogger you get a good sense of their style and taste. I also remembered from a few months ago, when we were talking about Christmas gifts, she mentioned Michael Kors. I knew she loved that brand, so make sure to check out Rachel’s post and see what I surprised her with and the original wish list I created for her.

Rachel did an amazing job picking out my gifts! I got lucky, because everything she ordered came from NastyGal – one of my most favorite online stores! And with all the goodies I got, I am more than ready for spring! I will share more of the pieces and looks on the blog within the next couple of weeks.

I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day and a special someone to spend it with!

Marsala #ThriftStyleThursday

Marsala is not really my color, and I had a really hard time finding a piece for today’s post, and I know Carissa posted a refashion today, so here is a little bit of mine! This was a turtleneck that I found and the sleeves were too wide. But nothing a pair of scissors couldn’t fix! A turtleneck muscle T, why not?

I styled it two different ways, one with my brand new culottes and another with boyfriend jeans. Which outfit do you like the best?

Make sure to check out everyone else’s post and please share your thoughts on Marsala in general!

Last Friday I had a chance to finally see Samantha Rei and Apatico new F/W 2015 collection that I have been stalking on Instagram and Facebook since the end of last year. And it was amazing! The collection made the 28 year old me want to go to prom, get married, and go to all sorts of fabulous events that I have been lucky enough to attend again. The whimsical spirit of the designer, perfectly paired up with Apatico’s head pieces in the 1912 Gale mansion was some sort of a new age fashion time machine, make me forget the year and the date on the calendar.

Rei’s collection, inspired by 1920’s Shanghai was filled with sequins, beading, fur and feathers in black, lavender, gold, silver, mint, royal blue and forest green. It was magically unforgettable for this trouble maker.

Thank you again for an amazing night Samantha!

Pop of Color – #thriftstylethursday

Today’s #ThriftStyleThursday is also a #ThrowBackThursday to last fall, my first semester at the U and the nice and sunny weather, and a day I spent exploring the area around campus.

I wore this light blue linen wrap dress with bright magenta tights and my favorite olive leather jacket.

This was also the last time I wore this dress. As much as I miss it, it was time to donate it.

Tights are a great way to add a pop of color to any outfit!

Make sure to check out everyone else’s #ThriftStyleThursday posts! Thank you Kristi for coming up with this week’s theme :) Next week we will be styling the Pantone color of the year – marsala!

Nothing makes my day like a pair of good pants! I received them from Mint Julep Boutique last week and couldn’t help but wear to work the next day. Everyone loved them! People are naturally drawn to bold eccentric patterns, and these pants were a perfect example of that. No one said how much they liked my black top, it was all about the pants.

Also, my hair is still longer in those pictures. I miss it. I went and got a haircut last Friday, and am still getting used to it. I always have a hard time finding a good stylist in the Twin Cities. I don’t care how many layers you are going to cut, I don’t like layers. So I immediately went back to taking biotin and rubbing my scalp with apple cider vinegar. Go figure.

Once again this semester I have more ideas than free time, so just make sure to follow along on my Instagram. I am more likely to reply to any of your comments there too!

Happy Monday, can I disappear through the wall now?

On a happier note, I’ve partner up with Mint Julep Boutique to give away a $25 gift card! That’s where my hot pants are from! So enter and get yourself a pair! I know you want to ;)

For today’s #ThriftStyleThursday post we all styled our favorite pair of thrifted jeans. Thanks Brittany of Lipstick and Yarn for the idea!  And I couldn’t settle on one. So I picked my top 5 pairs!

I love jeans, I have too many pairs, way more than I can ever wear, and I also don’t wash them. I keep my jeans nice and dirty hanging on the pipe rack that Blake built for me. Okay, I guess I should rephrase that. I wash them when they get really dirty. And by really I mean really. A few months ago my friend Melanie (who designs Massimo jeans for Target) told me about denim snobs. Denim snobs are people who can’t spend less than $200 on a pair of jeans, and believe in preserving indigo, so only hand wash their jeans when it’s necessary.

wash-raw-denim-1-622

Step 1: Fill a sink, tub, bucket or other jean-sized vessel with lukewarm water and a small amount of ultra-mild detergent. Woolite Dark is a good bet, but it’s very concentrated, so start with just a couple of teaspoons. Take a deep breath, ignore the anticipated slights from the hip police running through your mind, and put your smelly-ass jeans in the tub. Make sure they’re fully submerged (this may require you to weigh them down).

Step 2: Soak them for about an hour, giving them a stir half way through to loosen any dirt that’s worked its way into the denim.

Step 3: Remove the jeans, drain the tub (of course), and rinse them thoroughly with cold water to remove detergent residue. Roll them up in a dry towel that you don’t mind staining blue to remove some moisture.

Step 4: Hang them out to dry. (Note: Make sure you hang them in a place that has good air movement, as you don’t want your jeans to mildew. Also, take care to hang them somewhere that won’t be ruined by a steady flow of indigo-infused water.) Do not tumble dry, as all that heat will undo your good work. Once your jeans are dry, pull them on and proceed to beat the hell out of ‘em till they need a bath again.

I normally wash my jeans inside out on cold, and never put them in the dryer. It’s worked great for me so far. Here is also a great video I watched in my fashion ethics class last semester.

Now go check out everyone else’s denim posts, I can’t wait to see what everyone styled this week myself!

Last week I got to shoot some new pieces from Target’s Denim line, and wanted to share one of the looks with you. I am in love with these khaki denim leggings. It’s the most comfortable pair of jeans I’ve tried on. I have two pairs already, but I think this khaki one is a must have, especially now that I know they look so good with my chucks! I feel like these shoes don’t get out too much, and now they will. Have we talked about my shoe obsession? Yeah, that is real… Ask Sam!

Chicago was amazing! I originally went there to get my Russian passport, and the lady didn’t want to give it back to me. And I know that she just misunderstood, but she was so snotty about it, trying to tell me to come after lunch. It took me 5 minutes to explain to her that I was there to pick it up, and not submit paper work for a new one. I guess my Russian isn’t good enough anymore. Never again! And to be completely honest, I got it in case of an emergency. Here is hoping I never have to use it!

But we spent an amazing day with my friends Lera and Ken, and are already planning trips for spring break and summer. Hopefully that’s when I get to get all my thrift shopping done and finally go to Lincoln Park and catch up with all of my friends.

Happy Thursday everyone! Tomorrow I leave for Chicago! I am so excited! Sam and I are headed down there right after class! So I have to pack pack pack tonight. Pack for the both of us. I am quickly trying to finish up all the homework I can possibly and impossibly have, because I want to spend as much time with my friends as I can. Sam and I haven’t had a date night for a while, so that’s going to be a whole date weekend. So I am really glad I decided to renew my Russian passport, because otherwise this trip wouldn’t be happening ;)

This week’s #ThriftStyleThursday theme is Winter White out, and for the first time this January I wish we had more snow. I guess it’s all on the East Coast today! Mother Nature is just screwing with us all here in the Midwest. I am still expecting shit to hit the fan in February.

So thank you Megan of Eclecticity for coming up with a theme for this week! Let me know what you think of my outfit, I kind of cheated and it’s not all white, but, let’s be honest, I didn’t even wear all white on my wedding day, so….

Don’t forget to check out everyones posts, all the images below are clickable and the #ThriftStyleThursday logo will take you to our Facebook page, so make sure to like that as well!
