Spontaneous weekend getaways are my favorite. Sam and I used Valentine’s Day as an excuse to go down to Chicago and enjoy the 60 degree February weather that we had here! Today I want to share my weekend in outfits. Enjoy my journey from riverwalk to the beach, from Logan Square to Lincoln Park with a little West Loop and Village thrown in between, and don’t hesitate to link up with us 🙂
Disclosure: POPSUGAR sent me this Must Have Box to try #sponsored #ad
I have been loving Popsugar Must Have boxes lately! Their contents is stellar! And the January box is no exception. This box includes a Goldfaden MD peel for the beauty products/skin care addict. This peel alone costs $84, while the entire box is only $4o! A must-have subscription box indeed – you read it here first 🙂 You can save an additional $5 off your first box by using code SHOP5.
The Russian in me is incredibly happy about the Peppermint Tea from Dean and Deluca! I can’t wait to drink it.
Who can say no to a scented candle? I go through about 3 a month! Here is to Glade!
As far as the Happy Notes go, I can’t wait to share them with my co-workers. Wouldn’t you want to come to work on a Monday and see a happy message on your screen? I know I would!
But the calendar is hands down my favorite, and the best part – you can use it as note cards! I will definitely be utilizing it this year.
Make sure to try the PopSugar Must have box if you haven’t already. And do take advantage of the $5 discount, you won’t regret it. Get your box here.
Have you heard of athleisure? It’s my favorite trend ever, because you get to combine workout clothes with everyday clothes, like jeans and this Gap body top. I also can’t get over these Reeboks I thrifted for $5.55!
Do you athleisure? Make sure to tell me by leaving a comment below!
Please join us for the weekly link up and let us know if you’d like to co-host! I’ll be sending out a reminder email later this week with a sign up doc 🙂
Hello loves, i hope you had a great week! I took about a week long break from posting on Instagram, and it felt so great! I know a lot of you missed me, but I am back now. You see this much needed break helped me get my ideas and thoughts together, and I can’t wait to share more of my real life with you, like the no make up post work out Zhenya.
Fun fact, last weekend was my high school reunion. The Russian high school I graduated from in 2003 and sworn to never go back to. And I haven’t really. Partially because I’ve been living here for so long, partially because I hated high school. However there was something inside that was pushing me to go. Of course I wasn’t going to make it, but I wanted to talk to the people I spent 10 years in school with, the people that I wrote and passed notes to in class, the people that shared my hatred for gym class with, the people that pushed me to do better, be better.
I hope you all have people in your life who motivate you and help you better your best! Here is to the memories!
Outfit details: Pleated Midi Skirt – Zara sale ($19.99), Williams Ankle Boot from Free People ($30 on clearance), Ettika chocker, and white vintage sweater ($2.99) – yes, I am back in the thrifting game! I can’t wait to show you more of my thrift and vintage finds, I love the local thrift stores here 🙂
Thank you for linking up with us every week! We can’t wait to see your posts!
I switched from highlights to balayage in 2014, when I saw an picture on Instagram and knew that my hair didn’t have to look stripey, but could have a beautiful blended effect. And have been a balayage convert ever since.
Melissa spent about 4 hours on the cut and color but it was so worth it! Last time I got my hair done I wasn’t happy with the cut. The girl cut out a weird bang portion that I was looking to get blended in, resulting in me requesting Melissa to take about 2 inches off.
The balayage looks amazing, I got baby lights added, which I’ve never had before, they make the blond strands stand out even more. I also got to try Schwarzkopf hair dye again after a very long break. Schwarzkopf is a really popular brand in Russia, but having been living in the States for a long time, and coming from Minneapolis, which is Aveda central, it was a nice change.
Now bleached hair can be tricky to take care of, that’s why I also want to share my favorite products that help me keep my hair looking blonder and healthier longer.
- Shimmer Lights Shampoo and Conditioner – use these once or twice a week to keep your hair from looking too yellow.
- Maple Holistics Grapeseed Oil – rich in vitamin E, it’s perfect for hair growth. I love deep conditioning my hair and massaging my scalp with it about once a week.
- Coconut Curls by OGX – even though my hair is pretty straight, I use this product on my ends to keep them from being too dry.
- Matrix Heat Buffer – a must have spray for every time I use a styling tool, like the GHD curve featured in last weeks Beauty Brunch Post, a blow dryer or a straightener.
- Matrix So Long Damage Iron Tamer – a cream type of heat protectant. I use this on damp hair more than anything. The heat buffer (#4) is perfect for dry hair.
- L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil – perfect for a finishing touch to make my hair smooth and shiny. See the full review on L’Oreal’s Extraordinary Hair line on my YouTube channel.
- Dessange Paris Color Restorative Top Coat Serum with UV filter – same idea as the oil above, but the UV protectant makes it my number one choice!
I hope you enjoyed my hair transformation and find my list of products helpful! Let me know if you’ve tried any of the above and what your opinion is! Have a product that works for you? Please share that as well in the comments below!
Happy Sunday beautiful people! This year I am bringing back the weekly Beauty Brunch section on my blog, where you’ll be able to find lists of my favorite products, reviews and all other beauty related updates.
I want to start this series with a GHD Curve review, a styling tool that I have been using for the past couple of months. It’s a barrel shaped curling wand that has replaced all the other wands I own. This ghd tool combines patented tri-zone technology and the optimum curling temperature to help style all hair types and textures. From my personal experience it’s definitely easier to use when your hair is on the longer side. I recently got a hair cut and it’s a bit challenging to curl my hair. I also recommend using a heat protectant when styling with GHD Curve. Another helpful tip – hair spray before and after the use! That will make your curls last longer.
Hi and welcome to a new category on my blog – the monthly book club! This is inspired by an actual book club that I am beyond excited to be a part of. My friends Sarah and Kaitlyn of The Duck and the Owl are the ones who set it up, and everyone that you keep seeing in my group photos on Insta is in it too! This month we are reading The Mothers by Brit Bennet.
I look forward to reading this book, and I will be sharing my review and thoughts at the end of the month. Meanwhile, if you would like to read along, we would love to have you!
