Thrift Style Thursday Link Up

Between sponsored posts, photoshoots and accounting classes, I try and find some downtime.┬áI have always loved this bridge connecting Sculpture Garden and Loring Park. And while Sculpture Garden lays there, demolished, sculptures removed, trees cut down, waiting for its reopening next June, Loring Park is still there. A little green oasis in the middle of the Hennepin/Lyndale construction mess. I find this comparison to be a strange yet applicable allegory to my life. I’m moving from Minneapolis where I’ve lived for the past 5 years. The move is exciting, stressful. I tend to worry, question my decisions, look for signs. But then I remember that I need to take ownership, stick to my guts, and keep going. It’s time to move on, and I will be doing just that!

I’ve been dying to wear this olive skirt for a while now. Sometimes I wonder if it’s too short for me, but today it was just right! The elephant print top has been my go to during hot and humid summer days, it has an open back, and is so breezy, I’m so close to being a covergirl čśë

And now for the link up – share your looks, whether they are thrifted or not, and make sure to help spread the word about this link-up through social media if you have a chance! Thank you, can’t wait to see your looks!

Copper Dress + Vigil for Orlando

copper dress copper dress copper dress copper dress copper dress

We spent all weekend moving from our house, to Sam’s parents’ basement. I woke up Sunday morning and told him how happy I felt. He replied – that’s because when you lived in New York you lived on the ground floor. He was right. Sometimes it still surprises me how well my husband knows me. I will talk about home ownership, and our house more later this week. But I am so happy in this ground floor “apartment” of ours for the time being.

Last night we took a walk through downtown, all the way to Stone Arch Bridge and around, it was beautiful. We ended it at the vigil for Orlando victims in Loring Park. So much sadness, but so much love at the same time. And love is the greatest of them all, remember it this week.

This copper dress is a little something I found at Target recently, it’s a WhoWhatWear line, I own the same one in black. It has spaghetti straps, but last night was chilly, so I threw this Francesca’s crop top over it. Sometimes a crop top makes all the difference. And of course my new favorite TOMS čśë

Happy Monday!

We will not give in to hate, we will not give in to fear. We never have and we won’t start čîł

Black Jumpsuit

Last night my friend McCall and I went to a Clothing Collective fundraiser at Aria that in collaboration with Wipe Every Tear is committed to ending the sex trade in the Philippines. You could shop donated clothes, listen to live music, grab bites to eat, and be social.

McCall wore an amazing jumpsuit that reminded me of a similar black one I got from The Mint Julep Boutique, and wore to Chan’s party a couple weeks ago. So I am sharing both on the blog today!

We ended our night getting beer with Sam at Inbound Brew Co!

I hope you have a┬áHappy Friday! Here is to friends, black jumpsuits, beer and $12 worth of cheese that I ate last night čśë

Last Tuesday my friend Morgan messaged me and asked if I was free later that day. After I said I was she proceeded to invite me to a photoshoot with other bloggers somewhere out in Eden Prairie. That invitation turned into one of the best nights of last week! Not only did I get to participate in a fun shoot and see some drone action, I got to meet two incredible ladies behind AM Photography┬á(you can read more about the shoot on their blog), as well as a lot of local bloggers whom I’ve never met before.

PS. I will now be accepting all the blonde comments and jokes! And make sure to check out this live video from the shoot because everyone did a stellar job introducing themselves and it’s fun to see someone you’ve been seeing online in real life!

Blogger Husband

couples photoshoot ideas

Last Saturday Sam and I had a photoshoot in downtown Minneapolis with our friend Chan┬á(he took our graduation photos). He asked us if it would be okay for him to photograph us as a couple. I have no idea how Sam agreed to that, but when Chan sent us some ideas Sam said he was going to put his own spin on it. Needless to say, I’ve never laughed so hard in my life during the shoot and after it when the photos were ready. So here is to Sam, thanks for being a part of my life for 10 years, and being married to me and handling my crazy, and making sure none of this blogging bullshit gets to my head for almost 5!┬áAnd to Chan, who captured the relationship dynamics perfectly!

Being done with one of the most difficult semesters of my college life feels incredible. I am definitely enjoying this time I get to spend at home, reflecting and preparing myself for the next stage of my life. The ability to spend a lot of time at home is also something I am going to cherish, since Sam and I are getting ready to sell our house. We’ve learned a lot being home owners, living here, and now leaving here.

Another perk of being on a short spring/summer vacation is reading. I went to the library and checked out some books that I could read for fun, that weren’t textbooks, that weren’t mandatory, these are the books I can truly enjoy.

And finally, I’ve been able to enjoy cooking, baking, and making all sorts of treats for myself and my loved ones. My latest obsession is the new┬áTAZO┬« Chai Latte.┬áThereÔÇÖs something about that rich and creamy taste with every sip providing a spicy and sweet escape. And the best part about the new TAZO┬« Chai Latte K-Cup┬« pods is that you can explore a world of flavor from the comfort of your home.┬áGrowing up in Russia, tea has always been a big part of my life, especially black Indian tea, which probably partially explains my obsession with this product.

TAZO® Chai Latte combines the flavors of sweet cinnamon, fragrant cardamom, and spicy ginger. There is a perfect amount of sweetness and spice, with spice coming in at the end for a much needed kick. Needless to say this drink contains a perfect amount of caffeine, which makes this drink my new morning favorite.

NEW TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® pods are made from milk, tea leaves and spices. Brewing the drink is a two step process, you start by adding a powdered mix, which is basically a sweetened dairy blend, to the cup before you brew. Then brew the K-Cup® pod as usual, stir and enjoy!

And finally, I wanted to make sure to share that TAZO┬«┬áhas partnered with New York Times Bestselling author and host Padma Lakshmi to celebrate the release of the new K-Cup┬« pods. Tea and chai have always been a part of Padma Lakshmi’s life and family heritage and she is excited to celebrate the flavors of chai with TAZO┬«. In addition, she has also┬ádeveloped recipes that pair perfectly with a cup of chai and you can find them by visiting┬áTAZO.com/chai/pairings.┬áTo┬álearn more about this collaboration visit┬áTAZO.com/chai!

Fabletics’ Mall of America Store Opening Sat May 21

Kate-hudson-fabletics1

Fabletics, the fashion-forward activewear brand co-founded by award-winning actress Kate Hudson, is opening its seventh brick-and-mortar store at the Mall of America on May 21, 2016, which is tomorrow čśë I’ve always been interested in the brand, the activewear they offer, and the celebrities behind it. To be completely honest I sometimes go for runs in my husband’s old t-shirts, but I’ve been getting better lately.

I was surprised to find out that this is already their 7th store (and the first one was only opened last September), it’s pretty impressive for a company that started out completely online. But┬áI am glad they delivered upon customer demand, and it’s going to be interesting to see the store and the full selection of products in person.

I guess trying on clothes in a physical store isn’t going anywhere for a while! Talk about the importance of shopping experience! The MOA store will offer

  • Mobile points of sale
  • Free shipping from the warehouses of out-of-stock items
  • Virtual shopping cart to help customers complete their shopping online after their in-store visit
  • Fun monthly events with champagne and a DJ to launch our new collection
  • Free, in-store workout classes hosted by Fabletics Masters

To celebrate the new store, guests will enjoy the following at the grand opening event:

  • 20% off all purchases
  • Complimentary ÔÇťLive Your PassionÔÇŁ tote bags
  • Light refreshments, including champagne toast
  • Performances by acro yoga artists

In addition, the first 50 customers will receive a complimentary pair of black capris with a purchase.

The store is located on Level 1 South (S142) near Macy’s!┬á

Knit Skirt

DSC_0432 DSC_0434 DSC_0430

This knit skirt doesn’t get out that much, but likely it’s still cold in Minneapolis, so I can wear it out a few more times before spring finally gets here.

Last week I was on┬ábreak┬áand it started off with a trip to Milwaukee with Lexi, meeting new friends (here is looking at you Sarah and Kaitlyn), exploring new neighborhoods, and catching up with old friends. Fascinated by lake Michigan, I didn’t want to leave. Only 4 more months left.

In the next few months I will be trying to cross some stuff off my Minneapolis bucket list, so stay tuned for that and follow along!

Christmas is over, so is my fall semester. I can’t believe I did it yet again. Let me tell you, college second time around, especially when you are 29 is hard. Hard, but doable. Now it’s just waiting for the grades to go up.

I am really excited for 2016. I will be graduating, moving for work and basically starting all over. Don’t worry, Sam and Mason are coming with!

Meanwhile, here I am at the Cedar Lake Beach in my babushka scarf, wishing that there was less snow and more sand.
