New Greek Yogurt Collection from HASK

HASK-greek-yogurt-series

HASK-greek-yogurt-series

Hi beauty babes! Oh do I have a lot of beauty updates for you! This month has been filled with trying new products. I am not going to lie, coming home to packages almost every day is nice, but sometimes I don’t have the time to use it all! So I’ve been pacing myself and trying everything slowly to make sure I can write the best review possible.

There will be a few hair care products this week, so hopefully you can find something new to try for yourselves.

I am going to kick off this weeks beauty post series with a review of HASK Greek Yogurt Collection. I know I know it’s not always a good idea to put food in your hair, but when the brand did it for you already, why not?

HASK has recently come out with a Greek Yogurt series which includes:

  • Repairing collection: Blueberry and Acai
  • Color protection collection: Pomegranate and Cranberry
  • Hydrating collection: Fig and Honey

I have to admit picking just one was difficult because I could use all of these lines for my hair. It’s color treated, dry on the ends and fragile. My hair has more issues than Vogue I am telling you. But I finally decided to commit to trying the Repairing collection.

The cool thing is for this series HASK bottled up rich Greek yogurt and infused it with essential fruit extracts to create a formula that instantly feeds your hair with moisture and makes you hungry when you are in the shower. Good thing I like food 😉

The packaging is also kind of cool for a drugstore product as such. Each product in the collection features a dual chamber delivery system – the inner formula is Greek yogurt, which is packed with protein, calcium, minerals, potassium and vitamins. The outer formula contains essential fruit ingredients to give your hair the benefits it craves! Once squeezed, the inner Greek yogurt formula and outer fruit extract blend together to provide a perfect mixture of ingredients that leave you with soft cared for hair.

Aside from the shampoo and conditioner I also got to try a deep conditioner and that must have been my favorite of them all. I just love the effects of Greek yogurt mixed with Blueberry & Acai. I feel like my hair has been incredibly damaged by the last couple of visits to the salon, so I need all the restorative products I can get.

Have you tried HASK products? What do you think? Do you have any favorite products or remedies for strengthening your hair?

What’s in my gym bag? – Beauty Brunch Link Up

whats-in-my-gym-bag

As promised #BeautyBrunch is now a weekly weekend Link Up! Today I wanted to talk about one of the biggest parts of my life and how it impacts my beauty routine – working out at the gym.

Since moving to Milwaukee and starting my job at Kohl’s I’ve been going to the gym at least 8 times a month. I go to the WAC which is a wonderful facility and has so many locations! I love it.  During the week I mostly do cardio like running on the treadmill, elliptical or stair master. On the weekends I take a strength class and do yoga. I have also recently started to use Kayla Itsine’s Bikiny Body Guides and these are the 28 minute workouts I do at home 2-3 days a week. I know this seems like a lot, but it’s much needed because I work in the office.

There are a few other things you should know about my workout routines. I always work out at night during the week, weekend workouts are the only morning ones due to class schedule. That will explain my product choices.

whats-in-my-gym-bag

Let’s start with hair care, because that’s the biggest part of my gym beauty routine. As you can see there are 2 sets of shampoo/conditioner. One is Clairol Shimmer Lights, aka the purple shampoo. I use it once a week to brighten up my balayage. I always think this product is going to stain my apartment shower, and use it only at the gym. If you have bleach blonde hair I highly recommend this set. I got it at Sally’s Beauty Supply a couple years ago, and since I only use it once a week, it’s lasted me a very long time. Do you have a favorite purple shampoo? Do tell, because I am always up for trying new things!

The other shampoo and conditioner set is OGX Biotin and Collagen series. It’s essentially the thickening series filled with high performance blend of powerful ProVitamin B7, collagen, and hydrolyzed wheat proteins. I love the smell of these products and how my hair feels after.

But a shampoo and conditioner duo are only as good as the leave-in treatments I use after. I have two as well. Once again my obsession with having two of almost everything is surfacing. Don’t worry, I also think it’s weird 😉

The first one that I use is Argan Oil of Morocco Creamy Hair Butter by OGX. The cool thing about this product is that it can be either left in or rinsed out. If you choose to rinse it out, then it acts like a mask. Otherwise you can use it as a leave in treatment, which I prefer to be completely honest. I feel like my hair has been extremely weakened by all the bleaching that’s why I like to use this as a leave in. This product contains argan oil, silk amino acids, soybean oil, coconut oil, and shea butter extract. Plus OGX is an extremely affordable brand.

When I choose to rinse out the OGX hair butter, I follow up with Nexxus Humectress Luxe Lightweight Conditioning Mist. I have written a very detailed blog post about this Nexxus series before, so if you are interested in reading it, you can check it out here. This product contains Vitamin E, Coconut Oil, and Honey Extract. Once again it aims to strengthen your hair and reduce breakage. I spray it on towel dry hair and comb through. Easy 🙂

Now that I am done walking you through my hair care, let’s talk about skin care. I use Exposed Skincare Microderm Scrub. I have to admit I use it as a face wash and feel like it gets the job done.

Next I apply Pevonia Power Repair Hydrating Toner. It’s a spray so no need to pack cotton rounds for the gym!

Lastly I use Brevena Restore and Hydrate Overnight Cream. This skincare line is made in Minnesota, and I have been using this moisturizer for a while now. Sometimes I use it as a day time cream. Breaking all the skincare rules over here, I know. This lotion contains Macro B Complex®, Hyaluronic Acid, Jojoba Oil and Vitamins C and E.

Well there you have it, the contents of my gym bag 😉 What skincare products do you use? Would you be interested in a more detailed post about my workouts?

Make sure to link up your latest beauty posts! I can’t wait to see what products you have been trying out:

My Balayage Experience at Get Dolled Up Salon with Melissa

get-dolled-up-milwaukee-balayageget-dolled-up-milwaukee-balayageget-dolled-up-milwaukee-balayage

I love getting my hair done period. So when Melissa from Get Dolled Up reached out to me offering a balayage and hair cut experience at a Shorewood based salon I couldn’t say no!

I switched from highlights to balayage in 2014, when I saw an picture on Instagram and knew that my hair didn’t have to look stripey, but could have a beautiful blended effect. And have been a balayage convert ever since.

Melissa spent about 4 hours on the cut and color but it was so worth it! Last time I got my hair done I wasn’t happy with the cut. The girl cut out a weird bang portion that I was looking to get blended in, resulting in me requesting Melissa to take about 2 inches off.

The balayage looks amazing, I got baby lights added, which I’ve never had before, they make the blond strands stand out even more. I also got to try Schwarzkopf hair dye again after a very long break. Schwarzkopf is a really popular brand in Russia, but having been living in the States for a long time, and coming from Minneapolis, which is Aveda central, it was a nice change.

Now bleached hair can be tricky to take care of, that’s why I also want to share my favorite products that help me keep my hair looking blonder and healthier longer.

best-hair-care-products-for-balayage

  1. Shimmer Lights Shampoo and Conditioner – use these once or twice a week to keep your hair from looking too yellow.
  2. Maple Holistics Grapeseed Oil – rich in vitamin E, it’s perfect for hair growth. I love deep conditioning my hair and massaging my scalp with it about once a week.
  3. Coconut Curls by OGX – even though my hair is pretty straight, I use this product on my ends to keep them from being too dry.
  4. Matrix Heat Buffer – a must have spray for every time I use a styling tool, like the GHD curve featured in last weeks Beauty Brunch Post, a blow dryer or a straightener.
  5. Matrix So Long Damage Iron Tamer – a cream type of heat protectant. I use this on damp hair more than anything. The heat buffer (#4) is perfect for dry hair.
  6. L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil – perfect for a finishing touch to make my hair smooth and shiny. See the full review on L’Oreal’s Extraordinary Hair line on my YouTube channel.
  7. Dessange Paris Color Restorative Top Coat Serum with UV filter – same idea as the oil above, but the UV protectant makes it my number one choice!

I hope you enjoyed my hair transformation and find my list of products helpful! Let me know if you’ve tried any of the above and what your opinion is! Have a product that works for you? Please share that as well in the comments below!

Happy New School Year to all the Gophers and everyone who started college classes today! Major FOMO over here, so major I can’t even, but the fact that I don’t have any more homework to do definitely helps 😉

Today I partnered up with Folica to share a few of my favorite college hairstyles and hair care tips.  There are two essential tools that I think ever girl needs in college: a straightener and a curling iron. I don’t know what I would’ve done without the two! Thanks to Folica I got to try two new styling tools: Solia Superhot Professional Titanium Flat Iron and 1″ Salon Curling Iron/Wand by Hot Tools.

3. Side cornrows. These are also a golden opportunity for creating glitter roots! Stay tuned for more on that soon! Back to school hair styles with Folica.com

4. High pony or half pony. The 90’s are back not only in fashion, but in beauty as well! My mom used to call this high pony a palm tree. So there you have it – a palm tree with you wherever you go, even though the summer is almost over! Back to school hair styles with Folica.com

When it comes to hair care, I follow two simple rules: choose what’s best for your hair and switch between brands often. That’s why I went with Grow Gorgeous Density Shampoo and Conditioner as well as Grow Gorgeous Density Shampoo and Conditioner set. When you have fine, color treated hair like mine, these two product lines make the most sense.

I hope you find what’s good for your hair, style it like never before, and have an amazing school year!

PS. Folica is a great resource not just for purchasing tools and hair care products, but hair inspirations, glam guide and latest news from the beauty world!

PPS. I also have a fun announcement! Next Monday Rachel of Rachel’s Lookbook, Jewel of Style Optimist and yours truly are starting a hot new trendy link up for all you style, fashion and beauty bloggers out there! Stay tuned for more info! Psssst – there will be a giveaway too!

Beauty Brunch: Camille Albane Salon in Maple Grove

IMG_5139-0.JPG
My last hair cut wasn’t the bomb. I had a really hard time with it. It looked good when my hair was curled, but when it was straight you could see it wasn’t blended enough and my top layer stuck over my bottom one a good 2 inches. And you know it’s not a good hair cut when you come to work and your co-teacher tells you that it looks weird. I do appreciate the honesty though.

So when an opportunity came up to visit the new Camille Albane Paris Salon in Maple Grove, I knew I couldn’t miss it.

Last Wednesday after a long and tiring day at work, I drove up 169 all the way to Maple Grove to this brand new salon. The calming white interior, Coldplay through the speakers and incredible staff helped me relax and forget about my troubles almost instantly.
IMG_5131.JPGIMG_5133.JPGIMG_5130.JPG
Black capes are non-existent at Camille Albane Paris. You wear a white robe instead, which creates the atmosphere of a spa, and not a salon.

Tammy, the manager, and my stylist for the night was attentive and addressed all my concerns, answered all questions and was so much fun to talk to. She even saved my pink extension I got at Glamorama 😉

In addition to the haircut I also got a balayage. It was a little different for me, because Tammy didn’t wrap my hair in Saran Wrap, like they usually do at Aveda. The formula that they use doesn’t dry out as fast, so that wasn’t necessary.

Camille Albane Paris was founded in France, where they have the laboratories and create all of the products. The other salon in the United States is located in Boston.

Camille Albane is a breath of fresh air among the existing salons in the Twin Cities area. It’s new, different, and adds to the edge that we’ve been missing here in the Midwest.

And this Wednesday, August, 13 the salon has it’s official opening. I would love to see you there! So if you are planning on coming make sure to send your RSVP to RSVP@lolaredpr.com. Hope to see you there.

Beauty Brunch: What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag?

20140729-080117-28877844.jpg

What do you bring with you when you are on vacation? Do you pack all the necessary skincare, makeup and hair products? Or do you bring the bare minimum?

Road tripping is definitely different from air travel, I don’t have any restrictions on size and number of products, but I didn’t want to overpack! So here is everything I packed on my trip to Colorado.

20140729-074154-27714793.jpg
20140729-074155-27715043.jpg

To be honest a few of the things were packed in hopes of finally using them up, which actually did happen with a couple of the products.

Do you think I overpacked or didn’t pack enough? What’s in your travel makeup bag?

Beauty Brunch: Bath and Beyond

beauty-brunch-detox-bath

A couple weeks ago I asked Sam to pick up a new body wash for me at the store. Here is what he came home with. I think he did pretty well, don’t you?

olay-body-wash

Sand, water, salt and wind. Summer obviously calls for constant manis, pedis, and pampering. Detox baths are relaxing, rejuvenating and according to some, even help weight-loss. I have 4 recipes for you today, enjoy!

I was pleasantly surprised by the L’Oreal ones ($5.99 each at Target), they both work great on my color treated hair, leaving it soft and shiny. Arvazallia product was already featured on my blog, so make sure to read the review here!

What hair products have you been using lately?

Thanks for tuning in to another beauty brunch! Have a great week!

Arvazallia Hair Products Review

arvazallia-hair-care arvazallia-hydrating-oil-mask arvazallia-premium-argan-oil-hair-treatment I have been loving my new hair cut, and the balayage I got a couple months ago, but it’s summer now, and my hair needs an extra UMPF! So in my attempts to beef it up, I have been searching for new hair products, that would help it. That’s when I came across Arvazallia (or they came across me on Brand Backer). Today I am going to share my tips and reviews on these two products: Premium Argan Oil Hair Treatment and Hydrating Argan Oil Hair Mask Before I even started using the products, the brand representative filled me in on how to use them. That was so helpful, since sometimes, there are many ways of using one product, but there is not enough room to list it on the packaging.

Premium Argan Oil Hair Treatment

• Makes frizzy and difficult hair Soft, Silky, and Easier to Manage
• Awakens dull hair by giving it a Magnificent Shine
• Nourishes, Restores, and Strengthens over-processed, damaged, and brittle hair
• Residue-free oil Absorbs Quickly and Leaves Hair Feeling Light and Smelling Great
• Moisturizes dry scalp and Protects from harmful UV rays
• Heat Protectant that protects your hair from damage caused by hair irons
• Enhances color treatments to ensure an even application

This is a very versatile treatment that can be used many ways. We recommend to get the maximum results for your hair that you apply it to damp or towel-dried hair and then reapplying after styling.

Step 1: Pump 2-4 pumps of oil into the palm of your hand and rub your hands together.

Step 2: Run your fingers through your hair working the oil throughout your hair beginning from the root and working outward towards the ends. If you have naturally oily scalp or longer hair, you can apply from mid-length downward and then work your way up towards the roots.

Step 3: Allow your hair to air dry or you can blow dry your hair and style as usual. Because of the detangling effects of the oil it helps to improve drying time. It also acts as a heat protectant and helps protect your hair from heat damage when blow drying or using hair irons.

Step 4: After you’ve finished drying and styling your hair, apply another 1-2 pumps of oil using the same process to control loose out of place hair and to further condition your hair and give it a beautiful and radiant shine.

My experience: This is a great smelling product in beautiful packaging. I also feel like I don’t have to use as much of it. It’s often hard to remember to use a small amount of product for me. I tend to overuse everything.

Hydrating Argan Oil Hair Mask

• Deeply Conditions, Hydrates, and Moisturizes Hair Giving it a Soft and Silky Texture
• Repairs, Restores, and Strengthens weak, damaged, and over-processed hair
• Revives Dull and Dry Hair Improving its Manageability and Elasticity and giving it a Beautiful Shine
• Nourishes Hair with the Highest Quality Cosmetic Grade Argan Oil Rich in Essential Vitamins and Nutrients
• Protects and Shields Hair from Damage Caused by Heat Styling

How to apply: Arvazallia Hydrating Argan Oil Mask should be used in place of your hair conditioner. Apply a generous amount of the mask to clean shampooed hair that is still damp or lightly towel-dried. Comb the treatment through your hair to allow it to be evenly distributed throughout your hair. Allow it to absorb into your hair for 5 to 7 minutes and then thoroughly rinse the mask from your hair. Next style your hair as usual.
How often to use: Arvazallia Hydrating Argan Oil Mask should only be used 1-2 times per week.

Maximizing Your Results: For deeper conditioning, restoration, and to further improve manageability and shine following the mask treatment, apply 1-3 pumps of Arvazallia Premium Argan Oil Hair Treatment to your hair after styling.

For Thick or Coarse Hair: For very thick or coarse hair you can add and mix in 2-4 Pumps of Arvazallia Premium Argan Oil Hair Treatment to the Mask prior to applying it to further improve manageability, elasticity, and shine. My experience: I love using this mask in place of my conditioner. Once again, it helps me not to overuse products. I keep a plastic wide tooth comb (I got from Gift with Purchase at Estee Lauder) in my bathroom just for that. Overall these products are definitely benefiting my hair. And if I were to pick a favorite, I wouldn’t be able to do that, because both of them are now an essential part of my hair care routine.  The biggest downside for me though is that these products are made in China. I searched my stash high and low and only found one other product (out of hundreds) that is made there as well.

{Bare Love Hair} Luxury Hair Fuel Review

Hair is every woman’s pride and joy! And today I’m going to share with you one of my newly discovered secrets. A product by Bare Love Hair – Luxury Hair Fuel.

2013-08-19 09.50.02

Luxury Hair Fuel is hair and scalp treatment that is supposed to help rid hair of dullness and dryness and if used on the scalp, it prevents flaking and dryness.
There are two different ways you can use this product:
– applying it to towel dry hair prior to styling,
– massaging it into the scalp prior to shampooing.
And all you need is one pump!
Since my hair has been rather dry this summer, due to spending a lot of time outside in the sun, I thought this was a perfect product for me to try!
Surprisingly, one pump is enough, and two is too much! Trust me, you don’t want to overdo it, even if you have long hair, you’ll end up with greasy locks and that never looks attractive.
The good:
– it’s an all-natural blend of skin-compatible oils,
– it moisturizers and adds shine,
– smells beautifully,
– helps control frizz and defines hair’s natural curl
– it’s made with a unique OlioLove Technology that is exclusive to the brand.
The bad:
– it’s pricey $28 for 1 oz,
– the pump spits at you when you are trying to get the product out and squirts all over the place, which leads to product waste,
– your hair will look greasy if you do two or more pumps.
