Happy Monday! I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving! I feel so fortunate I got to spend it with my friend Kaitlyn and her family!

The rest of this long weekend was spent catching up on reading, blogging and organizing my apartment. I also got to see my friend Jessica and catch up on what’s going on in Minneapolis.

Today’s outfit is a layering masterpiece, at least in my book! I am usually not very good at layering. I find it difficult to find pieces that go together, but this time maybe it’s the bordeaux color that helps me pull it off together.

Once again all the photos are by @kaitlyn.luckow and if you like my outfit, you can shop it or similar pieces below:

And now for the Link Up: The blogger of the week is Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge. Please leave your links below and help us spread the word be it through Twitter, Instagram or Facebook by using hashtag #MondayMode ūüôā

Writing this post and acting like everything is okay would be wrong. Let’s be honest, last week¬†was full of surprises not just for our country, but for the whole world. As some of you may know I became a citizen in July of this year and this was my first presidential election in the US. I’ve voted in presidential elections in Russia before, where you know the outcome of the election long¬†before it’s over. It’s different here, it’s better here and I will always appreciate this country and what it’s done for me. I don’t know what the future holds, but I keep looking forward with hope and love. Hang in there and if you are ever looking for support feel free to reach out any time!

I also wanted to share this new website I’ve recently discovered called Octer. It’s a cool website that highlights current trends, showcases the latest not just in women’s but men’s fashion, as well as beauty, home and kids. I love going on there for inspiration and also to satisfy my online shopping cravings. Items are broken down by categories, then you can filter it by a whole bunch of other criteria, including the stores. That’s how I was able to find my new denim jacket!

Here is to a great Monday and a better week! Can’t wait to see your posts, please link up below and help us spread the word ūüėČ

Crushed Velvet

The velvet trend is one of my favorites this fall! I recently got this Crushed Velvet Swing Dress at Forever 21 for only $12.90 (I actually got it in both colors), and have been loving it! It’s so soft and easy, plus you can style it in so many different ways! It makes a nice addition to my vintage velvet dress collection.

Are you wearing velvet this season? How do you style it?

Make sure to stop by the blog every Monday to check out the weekly Monday Mode Link Up, I love seeing everyone’s stylish outfits and beautiful faces!

And lastly please¬†check out my top velvet pieces for everyone’s wardrobe:

Outfit: Bright red¬†lipstick, neon belt and my new favorite blue shoes are the key pieces in this simple outfit. The shirt dress is another proof that black and white are¬†my go to colors and I won’t be¬†gravitating away from them anytime soon.

Life: I am officially a Milwaukeean, all moved into a new apartment, finally unpacked and feeling at home. A part of me still can’t believe that I am finally here, a university graduate, working my first corporate job. I’ve been waiting for this moment since November, but it all seems so surreal to me still.

Miscellaneous: Sam and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary yesterday.

I’ve been insanely obsessed with the gym.

Frustrated by the lack of Targets in the area.

Mesmerized by the beauty of lake Michigan.

PS. Thank you Megan for the photos!

Naot Trunk Show + Donation Event May 5-7

NAOT TRUNK SHOW

When it comes to fashion, there are very few things I love as much as shoes.

Today I wanted to share an upcoming event that will take place here in the Twin Cities. It’s hosted by Naot Footwear & Schuler Shoes, and will go¬†Thursday, May 5 9:30 am¬†through¬†Saturday, May 7 at 6:00 pm in 10 Schuler Shoes locations throughout the metro area.¬†

The event will¬†benefit¬†Good in the ‘Hood,¬†a nonprofit dedicated to helping the urban poor and those that have been marginalized by difficult circumstances. Through youth mentoring, internships and adult advocacy programs, they are able to offer effective support for those desiring to move forward in life.

Everyone who attends the trunk show will be able to contribute to¬†Good in the ‘Hood¬†just by simply trying on shoes.¬†Try on a pair of Naots, and they will donate a pair to those in¬†need. If you buy a pair, they will donate two pairs. It’s fashion for a cause!

Use #NaotGivesBack to join the conversation on social media! And maybe I’ll see you there ūüėČ

Selling Clothes on ThredUp

Make Money with ThredUp

If you follow me on Snapchat (username @BeingZhenya) or Twitter, you know that I’ve been frantically cleaning out my closet. And not just because it’s spring cleaning, but also because I am moving and will be downsizing from a house to an apartment. To make parting with all my clothes easier, I wanted to¬†be able to earn some money off of it. Having sold on Poshmark in the past, I knew I didn’t have time for listing and photographing every single item several times, that’s when I remembered about ThredUp.

ThredUp is a San Francisco based company that buys your gently worn or new clothes, accessories, shoes and sells them on their website. The process of selling to ThredUp is extremely easy.

thredup First you order the clean out kit, and if you would like for ThredUp to donate the items they don’t buy the kit costs $12.99, otherwise they recycle or donate the items making the kit free. I obviously went for the free kit option (I am on kit #4 at the moment).

The kit comes in the mail in a cute polka dot¬†envelope. The insides contain the clean out bag, as well as the instructions on what to send, it’s very self-explanatory and easy. There is even a list of accepted brands for your convenience.

Then the fun part begins, you get to clean out your closet. This is my favorite part to be honest, because I actually get to go through everything and reevaluate my wardrobe. I have to be honest I can’t downsize it to 20-30 items, but if I am ever able to, I will let you know how I did it.

The bag is very roomy, you can fit a lot in it, I would say maybe an equivalent to a 10 gallon garbage bag to give you some idea!

Finally, you drop the bag off at the nearest FedEx location, or you can even have them pick it up from your house if you’d like.

Once the ThredUp team receives the bag they process it, and it can take anywhere between 2-3 weeks. This is probably the longest waiting period of the whole process, but they keep you updated via email, which is really nice.

After the bag has been processed, they will email you with your earnings. I made about $50 off my first bag, and $125 off my second one. I am curious to see what bags 3 and 4 will hold.

Payout is done via PayPal, and you have to wait 14 days before you can cash out, otherwise you can use the money to shop ThredUp if you wish. I will have a separate post about my shopping experience with them soon!

So there you go, a new great way to make money, clean out your closet and maybe even a reason to shop!

Let me know what you think of ThredUp!

Chambray + Gray

Button downs have been my go-to lately. Whether it comes to creating an outfit, or adding a layer, or even using them as an accessory (more on that later this week). This thrifted chambray shirt is my absolute favorite, it’s thin enough, it’s oversized to the right size and shape, it’s color matches almost everything in my wardrobe. And to me it made perfect sense to wear it with this Zara dress.

As you can probably tell, it was freezing on the day of the shoot! Well, Minnesota weather has been a lot nicer to us lately. I was on the phone with one of my best friends who lived in the same town in Russia for a while, and now lives in Texas.¬†She wants to see the snow, I don’t. Isn’t the grass always greener? Or snow always whiter? Whatever they say…

Here is to Monday and a first full week of classes!

Whatever, I am getting French Fries

Zara has once again proved itself to be my happy place with this T-shirt. I love french fries, and this 70’s inspired font and color of the T.

Winter break has come and gone, and school starts again on Tuesday! It will be my last full semester at ¬†the University of Minnesota. I can’t believe I am only a short hop skip and a summer class away from graduation and starting my job in product development!

Happy New Year!

Whole30 is over and I feel amazing! I am going to stick to it for the next few weeks, and then, once school starts… well, I don’t know. Sam lost 15 lbs, I lost nothing! My friend Kate lost almost 13!!! I am kind of upset I didn’t lose any, but I kind of saw it coming. It’s hard to lose weight when there isn’t that much to lose. I would love to be around 115 lbs (I am currently 125), but then I will get thrown under the bus for not promoting positive self-image, when in reality that’s all I am promoting. It’s all about being healthy, strong, and confident.

I started 6 week 6 pack workout with Jillian Michaels, and that’s been going great. So far level one has my butt kicked. I am sticking to 5-6 workouts a week, and have somehow managed to stop Mason from biting me on my moving limbs.

I know I sound kind of whiny in this post, I had a tough day at the internship today, I am still deciding “should I stay or should I go?”, and the answer right now is one big SIGH.

At least these blue skinny jeans look good! Target, baby!
