My Perfect Red

2013-05-20 19.19.53 (1)

It’s a well known fact that red lipstick does wonders, it’s practically a miracle worker (well, that’s if you believe in miracles <— You can tell I just watched the latest Star Trek). It doesn’t only make your teeth appear whiter, but your nose smaller, it basically draws attention to your lips, away from all the other features (that’s only if you want it to) And even though there are people who are so very against it, all I have to say is suck it up and give it a shot!

Who is my perfect red then? This little guy by Faberlic - from the Premium Lipstick collection, #4295. I know that most of you States side are not familiar with this brand, but if you live in Europe, I am sure you heard about it. It’s very similar to Avon and Mary Kay! I was offered to try out some of their products a while back and this red lipstick was one of the items I picked out:

Who is your perfect red and do you wear red lipstick in general? I think it’s perfect for the summer, can’t wait to show it off more often!

Dandelion Queen

2013-05-18 16.35.38

Saturday after all the rain has passed, Sam and I went to one of our favorite places in the Twin Cities – Lake of the Isles. If you’ve never been to the Twin Cities, that  is probably the number one place I would recommend you go to! We don’t have Central Park, like some of you, lucky New Yorkers, but we love what we’ve got!

And of course I had to take advantage of my new Samsung Galaxy camera*, and get some shots!

Mustard, please!

I have done it, I have found the perfect mustard pants! And since I didn’t know what to wear them with today I went for my Ralph Lauren denim shirt. It’s my go-to shirt for almost every occasion, a comfort cloth of sorts! I used to have another “comfort cloth” piece of clothing before that, a gray American Rag cardigan I got at Macy’s a long long time ago! I think it’s still there somewhere in the depths of my closet in Russia!

Do you have any items in your closet that are like this? Let me know, would love to hear what everyone else is obsessing with!

Denim Shirt – Ralph Lauren // Sunnies – Lucky The Weekender // Necklace – GoFavor.com //

Also, check out my latest thrift haul (I will admit, I was too lazy to take pics of everything, so I took a video instead)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Rock Your Denim Vest!!!

2013-05-12 15.27.13

2013-05-12 18.08.57

I’ve recently heard that if you want to see all of the latest fashion trends – go to Forever 21 – that’s where you’ll find them! And that’s true – everywhere you look in that store – you see something different and stylish, plus they have some classy pieces as well! I don’t really shop there that often, so those of you who thought I was now promoting for F21, think again! I did go in there during my trip to Chicago, simply because it was a free standing store! If some of you don’t know, I hate malls, just hate going inside, shopping there is too much for me (I wonder if you fellow thrifters have the same problem?), anyways, the one thing that I saw and liked was the denim vest, and besides if Jessica Alba can rock hers, why can’t I rock mine?

The only problem was – I didn’t have one! So I went off to Salvation Army in the Warehouse district and found a Ralph Lauren one for $6! Just to compare, Forever 21 vests retail for at least $20! My original plan was (if I didn’t find the vest) to get a jacket and chop the sleeves off!

But here it is, my denim vest and the outfit I put together! We also went to Walker where my mother in law is a tour guide, so I got my very own personal tour of the two newest exhibits! Thank you, Sandra!

DIY Friday: Denim Rug

I saw an idea for a DIY denim rug a couple weeks ago! And I knew it was going to be perfect for me, because I had so many freecycled pairs of jeans, that I knew were waiting for their moment! And it finally came! Unfortunately it didn’t use up as many pairs, as I was hoping (only 1 1/2 or 3 pant legs :) )

Here is what you are going to need:

- Old jeans

- Scissors

- Fabric

- Sewing Machine

Then simply follow my easy instructions and enjoy!

I hope this was nice and easy, let me know how your rug turns out!

SAIC 79th Annual Fashion Show

As you know during my last weekend’s trip to Chicago I was able to attend SAIC fashion show! It’s a show put on by sophomores, juniors and seniors of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and they do a wonderful job! I actually have something special coming up on the blog next week, SAIC related, so stay tuned, you don’t want to miss it!

And the show was amazing! We all got to sit in the front row, take pictures and videos with our new Samsung Galaxy cameras (See Disclosure) and chat about the designs in between! I think the most interesting thing for me (other than the clothes of course) was reading the names of the students, and the different scholarships they’ve received!

Now I am going to let pictures and videos do the talking!

SAIC 5

I am wearing: Dress – Diesel (thrifted)//Jacket – The Limited (thrifted)

Boots – A.N.A (thrifted)//Clutch (not pictured) – ETRO (thrifted)

Necklaces – H&M, river pearls (Russia)

I hope you were able to experience some of the fashion show’s ups, because there were no downs ;)

Art, Fashion and What in the World did I go to Chicago for?

2013-05-05 15.37.58

As you know I just got back from Chicago, but not all of you know what I was doing there!

You might have also noticed this badge on my sidebar:

So here goes:

I was contacted by Verizon Wireless to participate in their Fashion and Style Blogger program a couple weeks ago, and at first it seemed too good to be true! They offered to fly me to Chicago, pay for my hotel, take me out to SAIC Fashion show and a dinner at a hip restaurant, get a chance to meet other bloggers, and have fun!

And to top it all off I was also given a new device to play with.

Needless to say I agreed to come even before I asked for that day off at work ;)

The device turned out to be a Samsung Galaxy Camera that comes with 4G LTE, a touch screen, a 21x optical zoom and a whole bunch of other perks (which I am going to talk about in one of my later posts), plus you can upload photos and videos directly to your social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube), it’s packed with editing apps, which definitely saves a lot of time! The only thing that it can’t do is make calls. And the funny thing is, Sam and I were at Best Buy the weekend before looking at that exact camera! So now my camera dilemma is solved and my husband won’t have to listen to me whining. Though he will be definitely taking more pictures for sure!

But I think I am going to stop talking now, and show you what the camera can do!

What does $25 Get you at the Goodwill? And Wild Horses OOTD!

2013-04-21 18.48.30

Last Saturday I got to stop by at one of the Goodwills I rarely go to – the Goodwill in Stillwater! I will tell you right away, that this place is pricey, especially if you compare it to the one in Hopkins! But I was still able to score some amazing finds:

2013-04-20 14.01.43-2

Horse poncho – $9.99

Suede a.n.a. boots – $9.99

Two pairs of tights from Target – $0.99 each

Benefit Dandelion Blush – $1.99 – Yes, I bought makeup at a thrift shop, but in my defense – it was all packaged, sealed and blush makeup has a very long shelf life! More over I think it would’ve been a crime to walk past it and not get it, since this blush retails for $28!

I think I was really excited for everything but the tights. The tights were more of a necessity! But I love my poncho and the boots to death! I would sleep in those boots if I could! And the poncho too, yes, most definitely!

2013-04-21 18.56.20

What does $25 get you at your local Goodwill?

Happy Hump Day! The week is almost over!

Z
