Channel Your Inner Blog Hero

There is this fun challenge going on IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers) and I think that’s the 17th one already. I’ve finally decided to participate. The idea is to basically: “Try and identify your super-strength as a blogger. Are you a swift, sleek Cat Woman-type? Or maybe you’re a working girl by day and a super-blogger at night, a la Superman! If you feel there isn’t a superhero you can relate to as I did, make up your own. You can be a Super Beauty Maven or Fashionista Flash (Just making stuff up). Let your imagination run wild and have fun with this!”

Sunday night, yet again my husband was making fun of one of my dresses. And kept saying I looked like a Jedi. Now you see, with Sam, most of my dresses to him look like Jedi apparel. I wonder what he would say if I got an actual robe! Lol

Anyways, he went and dug out his light saber, and I decided – what the heck, will post pictures on my blog, entertain him, myself and you guys!

And that’s how I chose my superhero – a Jedi, master of blogging! And even thought Jedi apparel isn’t very appealing, there are ways to dress up any outfit!

Who is your inner super hero?

PS. I know that with a red light saber I am more of a sith, but that’s the only light saber we have 😉

Highs and Lows of the Week

Another week flew by. I noticed how faster the time flies now that I am married. It’s been almost 3 months since I made the BIG move back to the States. Almost 2 months since I’ve been married. Wow, no one ever told me I’d better capture every days memories. I guess one day I’m going to wake up, and I’ll be 30! But isn’t it the age to be?

Anyways, the highlights of the week have been:

1. Getting into the Links a la mod round up on IFB (that’s for Independent Fashion Bloggers – if you didn’t know!)

2. The release of the new iPhone 4S, which I will be getting very soon!

3. My great finds at the warehouse district Salvation Army!

4. TAZO tea, especially it being on sale at Target, and the available coupons, making it really really cheap and worth stocking up on!

5. Tresemme dry shampoo! That has been a life saver! For a someone who has a habit of taking evening showers, this product has been a miracle! It keeps my hair looking clean throughout the day, lasting through the evening! Love it!

Now on to the lows of the week:

1. Death of Steve Jobs

At least there are loving jokes going around Internet about him, and we know he definitely got into Heaven after reading this one!

2. Kate Middleton turning down Vogue cover.

This has been a total bummer for thousands of fashionistas around the world, but she did it, the Duchess of Cambridge declined this offer.

Good thing is, I look so much like her on my new DL, so if Vogue needs a dupe – I’ll do it! Just give me really HIGH heels 😉

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I have decided to join bloglovin’! If you haven’t heard about it, well it’s basically a website, that lets you follow all your favorite blogs, no matter what domain they are on!

I thought it would be very handy for me, because I read a lot of fashion blogs a day, and not all of them are on WordPress. I would also love for you to follow my blog if you are already using Bloglovin’!

And finally – check out that cool icon I got on the right! Isn’t it fab?

Highlights of my Day! (SHOES, duh!)

Number 1: I got my Minnesota driver’s license (not in the mail yet, but I got it). For those of you who don’t know – to get a license in this wonderful land of 10,000 lakes, you gotta take the Permit Test! Wha??? Yes, you heard me. So I studied, studied, studied, and viola – passed it! I was also excited about getting a new picture on my license, and have my weight change from 120 to 117 lb! The lady at the DMV and I have also decided that my eye color is Grey! Took us a while to figure it out, she was going to put it down as blue, but my eyes are anything, but… Well anyways, once the license actually comes in the mail, I’ll let you all take a look 🙂

Number 2: Thrifting! I totally planned that! You know me! After I was done at the DMV, which was located on Lake and Chicago, I went east to check out the local Savers. On the way there, though, I got sidetracked to St. Vincent’s thrift store and got the most amazing $4 pair of shoes you can get!

The coolest thing is that they are made in Brazil, so I wanted to use this moment and say hi to all of my Brazilian friends out there! You girls are a ton of fun!

And last but not least: Sam and I made Peanut Butter/Hershey Hugs Blossoms – aren’t they tasty looking?

I hope you had a Fantabulous day! I love you all, and thanks for reading 🙂

PS. I did make it to Savers and it didn’t impress me much. I will do a more detailed review later in one of my upcoming posts, where I will talk about the most popular thrift stores in Minneapolis! So stay tuned!

Guest Blog Post Announcement!

Hi everyone,

I have some exciting news. I wrote a guest post last week for one of my Twitter-friends. The post will be about Russian fiancees/wives in the US. Plus there is a pretty big chunk about mail-order brides in there too! The post will be in Russian and will appear on a different blog. If anyone is interested I can translate the post into English. Just let me know in the comments.

Have a great week everyone. I know I will. Though mine is already filled with the madness plane ticket related!

Don’t Judge the Post by it’s Title

Oh but we all do that, as well as books, people, magazines, stores, etc… Sometimes people click on the link to my blog, see the title of the post, and later ask me – what was your post about? I find it hilarious 🙂 Sometimes I just make things up, to mess with them. Yes, I am that kind of person, I like messing with people. Won’t you just shiver and shake at the thought of that!

A couple days ago a lady from church added me on FB, the whole friending experience resulted in her sending me a message asking about my blog. She asked me how she can get there (there – meaning my blog). I didn’t quiet understand what she meant (had a total blond moment), I thought she was asking me to blog about her. Well she was just asking for a link. Apparently me posting links to my blog all over my wall isn’t enough! Oh well, that’s not my problem.

So back to the original subject of this post, TITLES! I was checking out “Freshly Pressed” section, and came across a post about yard/garage sales. I got super psyched about it, since it’s right up my alley. Well, the guy was blogging about how he finds toys at garage sales, especially the ninja turtle ones. You can check it out here if you want

Another post I was disappointed by was a DIY project – the bullet necklace. The idea is amazing, but the way it was carried out – meh! I really wish the author figured out a way how to spread out the shells, and have them individually laid out. She could’ve used some foam sheet, like this blogger

Well, here is the link to the Bullet necklace anyways:

There are a lot of post where the title basically gives it away, which is fine by me! I do like a little mystery though! The secrecy, the planning, the idea! I hope you all enjoy today’s post, stay tuned for an upcoming post on my wedding dress shopping!

PS. On my wish list right now:

Blog :)

My poor blog has been suffering from me being gone. And even though I am working long hours this week, and I am still blogging my views have gone down, which makes me extremely sad, but oh well. I promise I will return next week with all the beauty and DIY posts, but for today, here is this. All of us out there blogging our hearts out!

Tomorrow if I have time in the AM I will blog about one of the orphan graduates, who is now serving in the military, and who I was able to talk on the phone today!

Blogs I Read…

Some of you out there probably think that all I do is write my blog, well I do that, but not just that! I also read other people’s blogs! And today I wanted to share the ones I read the most. How and where do I find them? Honestly, all over the place, sometimes on WordPress, sometimes through Twitter, or Facebook. So here is a list of some of my favorite blogs, that I think you would enjoy reading too!

This is a blog written by an engaged couple, and their names, as you may have already guessed, are Spencer and Jana. For those of you lovers of romantic stories out there I highly recommend reading their engagement story! I really like the He says/She says idea, you can easily distinguish who the posts are written by!

A blog written by 3 (correct me if I am wrong) wonderful girls, one of which I have the privilege to know in person! I love the design ideas published there!

A blog about UWS (where I used to live, but which I love, sigh) written by Cheryl. I have more of a personal connection with this blog, nostalgic, if you want to put it this way! Very often images of streets stand in front of my eyes, I start remembering my time there, and miss it even more.

Also a NewYorker, just like the previous author, Sammy blogs about vintage fashion, but not vintage fashion alone. She has great inspirational, motivational, and other types of -ational posts, which I love. Also check out her YouTube channel! The Thrift Wars are a BLAST!

I just had to throw this one in here. Not because I love UO, but also because they have some great posts, really worth reading! I loved the one about Annie Novak, and her roof top organic farm in Brooklyn! Intrigued? Check that blog out!

I will be updating this list, and will definitely create a blogroll, so that you can access these awesome sites directly from my home page!
