Happy Monday! I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving! I feel so fortunate I got to spend it with my friend Kaitlyn and her family!

The rest of this long weekend was spent catching up on reading, blogging and organizing my apartment. I also got to see my friend Jessica and catch up on what’s going on in Minneapolis.

Today’s outfit is a layering masterpiece, at least in my book! I am usually not very good at layering. I find it difficult to find pieces that go together, but this time maybe it’s the bordeaux color that helps me pull it off together.

Once again all the photos are by @kaitlyn.luckow and if you like my outfit, you can shop it or similar pieces below:

A Very Mod Style Monday Mode with LATTORI and Link Up

mod style mod style mod style

Do you have a look or a style that you go for regardless of the season? Something you rely on when in doubt? For me it’s the mod 60’s style dresses that help show off my legs, while being work appropriate. I love this LATTORI dress exactly for that reason. It’s easy shape and vibrant colors help you get noticed, but not too much. Styling it was as easy as 1-2-3. I threw on some heels, and viola. That’s why I love dresses. They are an outfit on their own. I always feel better about spending money on a dress if I am in the store too. It’s an easy throw on solution to early morning dilemmas that I am sure we all face each and every day!

I hope you enjoyed this outfit! I have one more LATTORI dress to share and I am saving that one for next week.

Writing this post and acting like everything is okay would be wrong. Let’s be honest, last weekĀ was full of surprises not just for our country, but for the whole world. As some of you may know I became a citizen in July of this year and this was my first presidential election in the US. I’ve voted in presidential elections in Russia before, where you know the outcome of the election longĀ before it’s over. It’s different here, it’s better here and I will always appreciate this country and what it’s done for me. I don’t know what the future holds, but I keep looking forward with hope and love. Hang in there and if you are ever looking for support feel free to reach out any time!

I also wanted to share this new website I’ve recently discovered called Octer. It’s a cool website that highlights current trends, showcases the latest not just in women’s but men’s fashion, as well as beauty, home and kids. I love going on there for inspiration and also to satisfy my online shopping cravings. Items are broken down by categories, then you can filter it by a whole bunch of other criteria, including the stores. That’s how I was able to find my new denim jacket!

Here is to a great Monday and a better week! Can’t wait to see your posts, please link up below and help us spread the word šŸ˜‰

Happy Monday! Today’s post is a little different. Yes there is a style component and a link up, but I also want to talk to you aboutĀ Nature MadeĀ®, the #1 Pharmacist Recommended brand for many key dietary supplement categories (Based on the 2016 U.S. News & World Report ā€“ Pharmacy Times Survey)Ā The vitamins that help me take my health to the next level. Okay, maybe that was an overstatement. These are the vitamins that I actually look forward to taking every morning.

I have recently gone to Walmart to shop for Nature Made vitamins. Walmart offers a great variety and prices on these products. I love shopping for vitamins, reading about the different benefits that they have, and deciding whether or not they fit in with my lifestyle. If you don’t knowĀ Nature MadeĀ®Ā has a variety of vitamins, minerals, and supplements (VMS) to help support nutritional gaps with your health goals in mind ranging from Digestive Support, Heart Health & Function, Energy Metabolism, Womenā€™s Health and much more!ā€

This time I decided to go back to basics and pick the “Multi for Her” gummies with Omega-3s. Now there is a part of me that loves these vitamins for their resemblance to candy, but I do strongly believe that taking your daily vitamins can help your health and overall wellbeing.

I work a lot, go to the gym almost daily, and still want to spend time with my friends and family, so these vitamins fit right in. Needless to say I bought two bottles to help me achieve mind-body balance šŸ˜‰ Next on my list –Ā Nature MadeĀ®Ā Probiotics, that are also conveniently available at Walmart SuperCenters.Ā TheseĀ Nature MadeĀ® Advanced Dual Action Probiotic has been clinically studied and provides dual support to both your small and large intestine for comprehensive coverage to help support digestive balance and healthy gut flora.ā€ ā€

Of course, there is something in this post for you. Make sure to enter here for aĀ chance to win one of 60 Walmart gift cards worth $50 each (No Purchase Necessary).

Now for the style aspect of the post – I’ve been wanting to capture the His for Her trend for a few weeks now, and I feel like this outfit translates it perfectly. I used all of the pieces that I already had in my closet to create this look.

A huge thanks to Kaitlyn for taking the time out of her day to take pictures with me! You are absolutely wonderful! Make sure to check the blog she writes together with Sarah – The Duck and The Owl.

Luminess Air Airbrush Essentials

luminess-air

Testing out and reviewing new beauty products is probably one of the main reasons why I love blogging so much. Today I wanted to share my review of the Airbrush Essentials from Luminess Air.

I started using Luminess Air products about a year or so ago, and quickly fell in love with the ease of application, ability to determine the coverage, and the long lasting effect of it.

This fallĀ I’ve partnered up with Luminess Air again to bring you a series of reviews that I will be sharing over the course of the next few months.

I started with the Airbrush Essentials. A set of 3 products aimed to target different skin concerns. The set includes:

  1. Porcelain – helps create the smoothest, most flawless skin.
  2. Eraser – erases uneven skin texture and large pores.
  3. X-out – conceals dark circles under eyes.

All of these products are meant to be used pre-foundation. Porcelain is a primer, Eraser is a serum, and X-out is a concealer. So you are getting a variety of products in this set.

Now when it comes to using them, I definitely prefer Porcelain most days, with a little X-out thrown in as needed.

Now if you’ve never used airbrush makeup, I would recommend starting out with as little as possible and gradually layer up. When applying multiple layers of product, like I have here, don’t over-do it. Less is more, and a little goes a long ways are the two rules that areĀ definitely appliedĀ to airbrush cosmetics. My other tip, always use finishing powder. I’ve been trying out Luminess Translucent powder, however I am not impressed with the brush and how the dispenser is set up. So I would definitely not recommend that.

Overall Airbrush Essentials set impressed me with theĀ performance, color (that was a concern, because I thought it wouldn’t match or layer with the foundation well) and ease of use. I do appreciate Airbrush Cosmetics for eliminating the need to touch my face, and its ability to conceal almost everything.

Have you tried Airbrush Cosmetics? What did you think?

Mock Neck Turtleneck + Monday Mode Link Up

It was such a gorgeous weekend here in Milwaukee, not even the presidential debate could ruin it. I’ve been listening to Regina Spektor’s new album “Remember Us To Life” on my way to and from work lately and her song “The Light” has really been speaking to me. I wanted to share it with you today, and remind you that sometimes we just need to keep trying, keep going and be that light that shines on us. Of course there are days when I am more of a Grand Hotel personage, but remembering that light helps me get through the day šŸ™‚

I’ve been obsessed with Kohl’s “Own your everyday runway” fall campaign, and I have to admit I own quiet a few pieces from that whole line up, including this Elle mock neck sleeveless turtleneck. It’s the softest coziest fall item in my closet at the moment, and did I mention I have it in 2 colors.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s been linking up with us every Monday for Monday Mode Link Up! It means the world to us! Your posts inspire me and help me stay on top of blogging.

Like I mentioned last week, Rachel, Jewel and I will now be picking our favorite posts from last week. These are the two looks that stood out to us the most:

Every time Monday comes around, I feel kind of cheated. The weekend flew by and instead of being a fun after party, the first day of the week always hits meĀ like a bucket of cold water. I am slowly getting myself into a habit of enjoying this day of the week, being happy and looking forward to a new week!

I spent this weekend in Minneapolis, got to go to my favorite food places, a fashion show, but most importantly, I got to see my friends. I was hoping to have some photos of the outfit I wore by today, but unfortunately I don’t.

September is flying by so quickly, and while some may complain, I am so excited for October! Getting ready for friends and family to visit, Sam’s Birthday, and Halloween! Plus all the pumpkin patches and apple orchards to visit! I need to find some good ones in the Milwaukee area!

I hope you all had a fun filled weekend, make sure to add your latest blog posts to the link up! I can’t wait to check them out!

Neck Scarf + Monday Mode Link Up

Happy Monday, we are back with another Monday Mode Link Up today! This is a look I wore when we toured Miller Brewery a couple weeks ago. I have been into the skinny scarf trend lately. I feel like they go with everything, and are such an easy accessory for everyone to pull off. I am definitely looking to add to my scarf collection now šŸ™‚ Another trend that I am loving and looking to repeat in next week’s post is layering t-shirts under dresses. For me, it’s one of the easiest ways to add some interest to a summer dress and transition it into fall!

If you are in Milwaukee and have a few hours to spare, I would definitely recommend going on the Miller brewery tour. It’s about an hour long, you get to visit the original caves where they stored barrels of beer in the 19th century. And of course there is beer in the end! And did I mention it’s free?

I will be in Minneapolis next weekend for Envision, it’s their anniversary show that I didn’t want to miss. So stay tuned for a lot of Insta updates.

Congrats to Jessica W for winning our giveaway! We would love to see pics, so tag us when you post them! And now for the link up!

Jus by Julie Experience and Aftermath

Jus by Julie

Jus by Julie

I would like to start this post by saying that starting this Jus by Julie cleanse was my own personal decision, this is not a sponsored post, I paid for everything and all opinions are my own.

Okay now that we got this out of the way, let’s talk about the cleanse. Juice cleanses are popular, there areĀ cold press juicers, then there are centrifugal juicers. The first ones are healthier and extract the most vitamins and nutrients which makes them pricey, the second ones are cheaper, making them more affordable. The juicer I have at home was a $30 score from the Target Basement in Minneapolis.

I went with Jus by Julie partially because I knew a few people who did it, and partially because it’s Ā based out of Brooklyn. (If you don’t know this about me, I am forever and always in love with New York City.) I paid $120 for my 3 day cleanse, which included 18 juices and 12 energy/booster shots.

The juices were different from what I expected. A lot of them included rice milk, and some seemed more like smoothies to me. The booster shots were interesting, some I could take like a shot, some I had to add to 16 oz of water, because drinking them up without diluting them was impossible.

In addition to the juices the cleanse allows you 1-2 cups of tea or coffee a day, plus some steamed vegetables and egg whites. I didn’t actually eat anything because I wasn’t hungry. The juices are incredibly filling and with the amount of water I tried to drink in between, I felt like I couldn’t consume any more food.

Before I started the cleanse I seriously thought I was going bombard social media with complaints of how hungry and miserable I was. However that didn’t happen. Nor did I really have any desire to eat. By the end of day 3 I just wanted the cleanse to be over with, because looking in the mirror at my face was terrifying, my cheekbones started showing even more than they normally do, and to myself I looked sick.

I didn’t lose any weight (I started at 124 and finished at 124), which I personally think was due to the high amount of sugar that the juices contained (at least 16 grams per juice). I felt sick and bloated by the end of day 3.Ā And to be honest, I don’t think this juice cleansed me of anything, but rather messed up my digestion.

Now that it’s been a couple weeks I finally feel like my body has been restored back to normal. I was disappointed in this program. Next time I do a cleanse, I will definitely look more closely into the nutrition that is in the juices.

Happy New School Year to all the Gophers and everyone who started college classes today! Major FOMO over here, so major I can’t even, but the fact that I don’t have any more homework to do definitely helps šŸ˜‰

Today I partnered up with Folica to share a few of my favorite college hairstyles and hair care tips. Ā There are two essential tools that I think ever girl needs in college: a straightener and a curling iron. I don’t know what I would’ve done without the two! Thanks to Folica I got to try two new styling tools: Solia Superhot Professional Titanium Flat Iron and 1″ Salon Curling Iron/Wand by Hot Tools.

4. High pony or half pony.Ā The 90’s are back not only in fashion, but in beauty as well! My mom used to call this high pony a palm tree. So there you have it – a palm tree with you wherever you go, even though the summer is almost over!Ā  Back to school hair styles with Folica.com

When it comes to hair care, I follow two simple rules: choose what’s best for your hair and switch between brands often. That’s why I went with Grow Gorgeous Density Shampoo and Conditioner as well as Grow Gorgeous Density Shampoo and Conditioner set. When you have fine, color treated hair like mine, these two product lines make the most sense.

I hope you find what’s good for your hair, style it like never before, and have an amazing school year!

PS. Folica is a great resource not just for purchasing tools and hair care products, but hair inspirations, glam guide and latest news from the beauty world!

PPS. I also have a fun announcement! Next Monday Rachel of Rachel’s Lookbook, Jewel of Style Optimist and yours truly are starting a hot new trendy link up for all you style, fashion and beauty bloggers out there! Stay tuned for more info! Psssst – there will be a giveaway too!
