Garters prices start at $20, and go up, depending on how much accessories you want to add on it. So today I am going to show you a garter that I made (for absolutely nada, because I had all the necessary materials at home). Plus, without even knowing it, I added a blue ribbon, and thus have my “something blue” covered.
So here is what my garter looks like
To make a garter similar to this one all you need is a strip of lace, elastic, some ribbon and a needle and a thread.
1. You want to begin by stitching the lace together (I did a simple running stitch), the goal is to create a long enough tube, so that after you insert elastic, there will be enough material to create the ruffle!
2. Now you need to turn it inside out, and the trick is to use a crochet hook or something similar.
3.Next you want to insert the elastic. I usually use a safety pin, that way it’s easier to pull through.
4. Now you want to tie the elastic (make sure you measure it first, or your garter will be too loose or too tight). And sew the ends of the lace tube together. I do that by inserting one inside the other, folding the edge inwards, and stitching it by hand.
5. And finally you are going to tie the ribbon, or add any other sort of accessory!
Good luck!
